Hello! My name is Peter Chien and I'm a 19 year old student living in Toronto, Canada. In 2013 I'm going to be playing on Pokerstars to get Supernova (2x pretty easily, maybe more if I play a lot or move up)

I'm a cash game player who's been playing online poker since September 2011. In the first few months I struggled and was stuck at 10NL for quite a while. In January 2012 I got a stake from C Biscuit Stables (the best place in the world) and I had great coaches and a skype group of 100 players to talk about poker with which really helped my game. In the summer I had 4 months off from school and I spent all my time on poker, when I wasn't playing I was watching videos or talking strategy with people, and by August I was playing 100NL. Since then I've become a partner at C Biscuit and have been staking players. I haven't been playing much in the past 4 months but I'm looking to get back into the game! I'm going to keep playing both 6max and full ring cash games and I'm going to be adding in some tourneys as well if I have the time.

I've also been making Youtube videos, so far mostly poker strategy videos but I'm going to be vlogging this year as well, making videos where I talk about things or go to places.

An episode of a series that I'm in the process of making

This year I'm going to apply for Pokerstars Team Online. I know I'm not very likely to get in but I'm going to do everything I can to make myself more attractive to Pokerstars, including posting here regularly, making more Youtube videos, and posting in my blog. I'm not allowed to post a link but I'm sure you can find it.

I'll update this thread with some interesting hand histories and post a graph at least every week.

Thanks for looking

Peter

I can't begin to comprehend why you would ever think making free youtube videos with decent information in them is a good idea, maybe you'll make team pro but thanks to idiots like you poker will be dead in the next 10 years so your career will be shortlived.

Yeah, a whole bunch of reasons why I make videos, I don't think I'm just giving away free information but I feel like I get a lot back in return.

First I'm not really great at learning things so I need a way to force me to study and really understand concepts, and for me that's telling all my poker friends I'll make a video about something and then actually learning everything and presenting it in a way that's understandable.

I decided not to make videos on things I already understand though, but because they were taking me a long time to make them, not because I want to keep information to myself, so I guess not the right reason you want. Because of this I probably learn way more from each video that I make than anyone watching them does.

Also I've always wanted to make youtube videos but never had anything good to put up since I'm not particularly funny and don't really have any other skills. Poker gave me the opportunity to make videos and get people to my channel so it has been really great already, I would have never had the confidence to do it otherwise.

I guess that's all just personal stuff, but it's really unrealistic to think poker will be dead. There are lots of bad players now who either don't care that they're losing or are just unwilling to learn, and as long as they still play, there will be money to be made by good players. If there are more good players because of training sites that turn losing players into winning ones or make it easier for someone who's never really played before to decide that they want to be a professional poker player, that just means they will each get a smaller piece of the pie.

Thanks for saying my videos have decent information though

I don't think it's that unrealistic. Think what the games were like until ridiculously cheap training sites came along. Some of the information you are giving on youtube is a lot more useful than training site material, and it is completely free and easy for anyone to access.

Yeah it will exactly make sure that each person gets a smaller piece of the pie, and why the f would you want that if you are good already? It's just absolutely ludicrous to me that anyone would want to educate the masses in the way you are.

Yeah, let's go on and shut down 2p2 as well, don't let the fish to learn anything sheeesh. Because you were born with poker knowledge and had started c-betting even before your umblical cord was cut, correct?

@OP:
Good luck! And thanks for the videos. The best way you can learn a new concept is by trying to teach it to someone else.

There are significant differences between 2+2 and youtube, and the information of 2+2 is only enough to take you to a certain level.
Almost everyone who understands higher level stuff doesn't really post strategy because they realise it's bad for the games. Hence the unbelievably amount of crap in SSNL and MSNL forums.

I already told you why I personally want to put up videos and educate people, there is a lot more to it than just giving away information for free. It's free for you to watch but I do get something in return.

I'm trying to say that training sites will not make the game die as long as there are players who are okay with losing and do not put the work into their game to improve. Having information available to everyone gives more people the opportunity to win the games, which is good for the game.

Let's shut down schools as well since people can learn there

You're very welcome, I hope you enjoy them. And that is one of the many reasons I love making videos.

Having information public is way better for the game than having information private. It lessens the gap between the very best players and mediocre players and allows lots of mediocre players to be profitable enough to play. It is much better to have 20 guys winning 50k each than 1 guy winning a million. Sure, on average the winners are making less, but there are more people who are able to play poker.

The reason these players don't post strategy is because they don't get anything in return for it by making a post on 2+2. Many of them make videos for training sites, write articles for websites/magazines, or do private coaching.

Though the information may be out dosn't mean people will apply it correctly. People shouldn't be so scared.

Yep, and if information is out there, you have access to it too.

Happy new years everyone, I put a video up of my goals and resolutions for 2013.

GL Peter.

What stakes are you starting off at? straight back in at 100nl? or grinding your way through the micros?

Also with your instructional videos, i dont think there doing anything to ruin the game, the people who are watching/looking for them videos have the willingness to learn the game anyway, so they will get the hands on the material if they want to.

But the real fish arent interested in learning anyway, also with the increased advertising on TV, i also dont see Poker dying any time soon.

I think I'm going to be playing 50nl as my main game for a while but I'm adding in a bunch of 100 and 200 tables when they're good. I'm not rolled for 400 but as soon as I have 10k or so I'll be playing in those a bit as well.
