Four years ago, I stumbled upon a forum post:

"If you want to get better in poker while we pay your buy-ins, send me a message."

Back then, I didn't even know what a stable was. I had just won the big 3.30 for 1.4k and felt amazing. So, I shot them a message and started playing for them. I was grinding $2.5 180s every evening after my marketing job, and I moved up to ~$15 ABI, which felt great back then.

Unhappy in my job, I quit and went solo traveling to figure out what makes me happy. COVID hit, and after two months, I had to go home. No job, no plan, so I jumped into poker again. That's what I'm still doing now.

Currently grinding ABI $40, aiming to be a good professional.

Why this blog?
Poker's a rollercoaster, time flies, and I think it's fun to document the road and look back once in a while. Also no one in my non-poker life knows what I'm doing, hope this turns into something I can show them with pride. Lastly I care too much what other people think of me, it would be great to gradually normalize the idea that not everyone has to agree with my views and reduce the fear of judgement over time.

Next year's poker goals?
Had the worst year in my journey so far. Results are poor, and hoped that I played a higher ABI by now. What can I do next year to achieve better results?:
Play 450 games a month. Regular speeds count as 1, turbos/hypers count as 0.5.
Focus on normal speed MTTs.
Play top-end buy-ins. No playing lower just to feel comfortable.

Off-game wants?
Stick to my morning routine every playing day: coffee in the morning sun while writing in my diary, 10-minute morning exercise, a stroll to the grocery store, breakfast while reviewing the previous night's HRC sims.
Walk after every session
Run at least 3 HRC sims after each session. (I`ll often run ~10 sims but don't go as in depth as I should)
Focus on one postflop topic, don't jump from topic to topic, study in depth for one hour a playing day
Been following this for a few months; it goes quite easy but I don't want to add more before it's fully integrated into my life.

What I need to fix:
Stop being a phone addict! Too often, I open Twitter or Instagram and scroll (deleted 90% of accounts I follow in the last few days).

Get better in poker, but you get what you deserve, so can't say much about that.
There is so much else, but throughout this blog I`ll update and add more.

How often I'll update:
To be honest, I've never made a blog post or done anything publicly. I want to update every Monday as that's a day off for me. If there's not much happening in a week, I might update once a month.

The first week is in the books, and, of course, the first week is always a roaring success. I mean, who doesn't execute all their plans flawlessly and kick off the year fantastic?
It's Tuesday, January 2nd, and after one whole hour, I decided to end my session. I didn't sleep well the night before; my girlfriend had to wake up early, and after her alarm, I didn't fall back asleep.

When I'm tired, I punt around, I snap act, and try to do cool and fancy plays for no reason. Not having any patience and anything small can be a tilt-trigger. So, in the end, I'm happy I ended the session early and did something useful with the rest of the evening.

The day after, my girlfriend decided to be my doctor, writing a prescription that said: 'digital-detox.' I bought some books and read them the whole day. I hadn't read for years, but it was amazing. Slept amazingly that night, and my rhythm is good again, as far as you can call sleeping from 5 am till 1 pm good.

Trying to be a professional means not starting the session when I'm too tired. I see regs play super high volume, but I'm not one of them. I care too much about playing well, feeling good and comfortable, and not making blunders.

My morning routine is on point, and I'm really happy with it. I wake up, make fresh coffee, and write in my diary sitting on the balcony. Finally, it's getting colder in central Europe, and the mountains around me are picking up some snow. It's wonderful sitting in the morning sun, observing the white snowy layer that fell the night before.
That's where I make the plan for the rest of the day; however, I'm often more ambitious than the clock allows. This is one of my main struggles at the moment—how to lose less time so I have more time for what I plan. Often don't understand how other regs play so often. They reg before me and stop regging after me. Truly admire the skills these guys have. Maybe I'm just getting old and slow.

Plans for this week: Playing on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. On Wednesday and Friday, I do groceries and make food for the days I play so I don't really have to leave the house when I play.
I'm currently studying almost exclusively 3-way postflop, together with 3 preflop sims a day.
Don't mess up sleeping; it's a priority.

Have a nice and happy week
