STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM ♔

What's up guys, my name's Elliott and I'm from Montreal, Canada. I'm a 20 year old student who has always enjoyed problem solving and math as well as being a natural risk taker. Like most poker players, I was eager to get started before even being 18 years old, and I did play, but mostly for fun. So far this Summer I have played on and off and have gone on crazy runs, at least for me. I started off by putting 20$ into Full Tilt Poker and ran it up to 1.2k, winning a MTT and placing well in others along the way. I eventually started playing in HU Hypers that I didn't belong in and my bankroll didn't support and eventually lost a good amount of that money before deciding to withdraw the remainder, which was roughly 700$. I've decided to give it another shot with a 40$ bankroll and I understand how to be disciplined, not tilt and use proper bankroll management. I will do everything in my power to implement this eventually. As you can notice, I'm pretty new to 2P2, but have found it a very interesting site and love how resourceful it can be.

What I play:
10 NL Holdem 6 Max
2.25$ HU Hypers
2-4$ MTTs
2.25$ 6 Max Turbos

I am well aware that I am under-rolled for the action I'm getting into, but eventually I will get my roll up and the 2.25s will be 5s and so on. I do not want to deposit more money, I want this to be a one-time run up, so I'm going to be cautious about my bankroll even though I'm extremely under-rolled. I do wish to play some live games eventually, but that might not be in the near future. As for reviewing hands and studying, that's something I will need to do more of. I watch some poker videos on the daily, but should be looking over my own play more thoroughly.

I believe my skill set is accustom to these stakes even though my bankroll will not be optimal for it. I can beat these level games and am confident in that. I truly believe I can beat even higher games, as I have before, but do not wish to implement a bankroll for it and jump right into it as I'd rather start from the bottom. Essentially my deposit is winnings from my previous run, but at the end of the day, it's my working capital, my money, which must be protected and used respectfully.

I plan to update this after every session to let everyone know how I am coming along and will post pics of my bankroll amongst other things. I will be playing on FTP.

That is all for now guys, I will update after my first session.

Starting Bankroll: 40.30$

Gl, looking forward to seeing your results. Only thing I would change is playing 10NL, drop it down to 2NL. It won't take very long to run it up from there, the variance factor is too high for 10NL.

Yeh i agree with Jiggy. 10nl with a $40 br is a no go with variance. Start at 2nl. Good luck either way

Played my first session while writing my initial post. Wasn't really a big session or a long one, was more of an introduction session. With some of the money I won during my session, I invested into a 3.30 Double Trey MTT and decided to play. I actually played pretty well, but ran into a tough spot and made the right decision but didn't get the correct result. I had 55 called a raiser with most likely 2 overs and the flop came 9s8s5c. BINK. Raised it up, another kid put me all in and I called he showed 6s7s for opened ended straight flush against my set. Turn card was a brick, river brought 4c and he made his straight. Pretty rough, but that's the way she goes.

In my Heads Up Hypers, I had a few interesting spots, but am not too familiar with ways to track my hands and such. There were a few spots where I bluffed all in on rivers and called kids down with King high. I didn't get too much volume in but I ran pretty well for most of it, except a little stretch.

You're right man, I won't be playing cash games for a while though, forgot to mention I generally like to run it up with sit and gos first. Thank you though.

Just finished up a quick session before I go out and do some errands for school starting next week. Played some 6 Max turbos and 2.25 HU Hypers. Played pretty well. I've been working on something in my arsenal lately to produce max value. I had 77 and min raised it, 2 callers. Flop came 1087r and one guy lead into me, now usually I'd ship it and try to isolate but instead I flatted. The next guy raised it and the other one went all in and I called. They had QJo and JJ and I scooped it up for maximum value. Pretty pleased with that play. I love set mining. I considered that one of them might have the nuts, but I took my chances especially since there was no flush draw on board.

Had another late night session which is when I like to play the most for some reason. My earlier session today was very quick and a nice one so I wanted to continue off that momentum.

Played in a couple MTT's while playing 6 Max Turbos and 2.25$ HU Hypers and ran into an interesting hand. One hand in the smallest MTT, I had A8c and min raised it, got two callers in the blinds. Flop came Jc4cJh and I bet half the pot. They both called and the turn card was Qh so I decided to slow down and check. They both checked behind. The river brought 9c which would normally be a BINK, but still better hands out there that were possible. After they both checked to me, I thought there's no way that they'd both risk not getting value on trips or better at this level. I bet 720 into a 1200 pot and the first kid folded. Second kid tanked a bit then called with 66 haha. Got maximum value from him in my opinion. Ended up busting in 35th with QQ<KK, pretty lame but I should have known the 3 bet was pure strength.

This next hand is how I busted out of my other MTT. I had AhJs and reraised a raised pot to a relatively small amount. The villain calls and we're isolated. Flop comes out As10c9s and I bet a little more than half the pot and he flat calls. The turn brings 8s giving me an open ended straight draw and a J high flush draw along with top pair. I end up reraising him all in and he showed KsQh and river comes 7s and he binks it. I was actually just staring at the image of that hand thinking WOW.

Had some pretty tough beats tonight including KK all in preflop versus J8d hitting a flush for 3rd place in a 6 Max Turbo. So many donk moves coming from kids, but it's okay I'm accustom to it.

Also, I've decided what to do with the FTPs as I am going to enter into tournaments to try and win other tournament tickets and eventually just spend them on tournament tickets that I'd be playing anyways in order to rinse them.

Not sure, been playing on FTP for a while, what do you recommend?

Anyways, just finished up another session where I ran badly/played mediocre, made some debatable choices, and decided to just stop for now. I'm fortunate to even have profited after that session, but focused hard and played well in my final 6 Max Turbos and cashed them all. FTP also gave me a 20$ bonus today, not completely sure why, but I withdrew it as I don't want it to be part of my bankroll challenge. Also, concerning Edge Reward payments, I think I might withdraw those too and make this a purely pre-rakeback bankroll challenge. Any thoughts?

Had another session today, probably wasn't the best idea as I was severely hungover. Drank a lot last night and was dead today. Was in a rush 3.30 rebuy and got 98th, was pretty frustrated. Normally I'd be a little tilted, but I was too lazy to care today. Sounds stupid, but was probably for the better. I didn't put in much volume at all, but got some decent results I guess. A lot of hands in the MTT I set mined successfully, and did other things well. Overall, I wasn't pleased as I felt that I could have extracted so much more value, but I didn't do it correctly. I really need to work on that.

I'm pretty tilted as I write this because I just busted out of a MTT after getting it all in with AA preflop. I five bet all in and get called by A10 and flop comes 10109 and the kid binks it. Pretty sickening as I would have been top 8 in chips and would have definitely made a deep run. Been having bad beats all around the tables tonight as even in my 6 Max games I'm constantly getting it in with AQ or AK and losing to AJ and AQ or runner runner, typical bs. I'm tilted in the sense that it angers me, but I won't tilt my bankroll. Lost a solid amount on joining MTTs and busting to nonsense and kids hitting river flushes and so on. Heard someone say the other day "fish wouldn't exist if it weren't for the river". That really sums up how I feel about this session. Pretty much a break-even session which sucks, but it is better than losing.

Just played a short session as I was in the mood and haven't been home all day. I've been in a soccer/football tournament all weekend and have been pretty busy and tired. Got some time and decided to play a bit. I decided against playing any MTTs because I knew that I wasn't going to be on for long. I've got to get up early for the last day of the tournament. Nothing really notable about my play today, was pretty standard but lacked volume since I was kind of tired. Making progress slowly but surely haha.
