If I recall correctly, I remember you posting a month or two back that you had a challenge in place for next year. Is this true? Will you continue your thread next year?
Are you playing Chicago's circuit main event?
Whenever you have time to answer. Big fan op.

-Have a couple challenges/goals in mind for next year. These goals just keep the grind fun.
-chances are I'll most likely continue this thread for next year. As long as people want to hear about the poker journey, then I don't mind sharing it.
-not playing any events in Hammond. Next tourneys will b HPO in Lawrenceburg, In. Not willing to give up on these tournaments. Honestly, I feel I'm improving and learning from each one I brick. Furthermore, I don't want to waste all that tourney knowledge I've acquired from my $7k investment.

Actually I'm not shaving until I cash a tourney. Next tourney HPO event 1, Nov. 13th. $230 buy in.
If ya see me w a bushy beard a few months from now, stay back, I cd b grumpy.

FYI - I heard that the 5/10 game would have hit the bad beat when the WSOP circuit was in town. Guy ended up losing around an $8k pot with quad nines. Unfortunately, the cheap skates in the regular 5/10 opted out of the bad beat, because they didn't want that whopping .10 BB going towards money they didn't feel they were likely to get back. Apparently, the player that lost was a tourist in town for the events anyway, so at least the money stays local, for now.

What Events do you plan on playing at Hollywood Ray?

I've put a tentative schedule together with the goal of getting the points lead to win the Vegas trip, but it has to be okayed with work and the wife (not necessarily in that order). (Events 1, 3b, 6, 9, 15, 18b, 21, 26, and 29 if I sell 50% or better and get the go ahead mentioned)

"Highlights of this series included the $1,115 Main Event, a Leaderboard promotion where "featured" events accumulate player points and the chance to compete against World Champion Chris Moneymaker. Both the Main Event and the Leaderboard promotion award the winner a seat into our $500,000 Guaranteed Championship Event June 2015 at the M Resort in Las Vegas."

So many crazy things happened on the felt today I honestly don’t know where to start.

Kind of in chronological order...

- Down $700 at one point and was starting to feel that the downswing will never end.

- Splash pot of $100. Lost on aipf w A7 vs. 22 vs. 67. Yep I shoved $250 w A7 in the big blind after a family of $2 limps. Surprisingly got called by 22 then 6c7c. Both players had roughly same amount. Pair of 6s won an $850 pot.

- Flopped a baby flush and got it all in on the turn. Called by KK. Another diamond hits the river, and he has K hi flush. lose $400 pot

- Lost w Aces twice, and top set once. Had to fold top set ott w a 4 card straight on the board, and not getting the price to call turn bet.

- Switch to a very action jackson table w legendary “Gambling Bill” aka Blue Hat. “Blue hat” will straddle every hand $10 to $100. Then bet large. Your job was whether u will call off your whole stack w 2nd pair. Usually any pair was gd.

- I sat down w $200 and within an hr, I was sitting around $1k.

- Yep this all happened

- Lost aiot w nut straight 46 vs Blue Hat’s 9 3 two pair. Board was 923 turn 5. 4 outer 9ball landed the river, and I saw a $1300 pot go Blue Hat’s way. Took like a boss though.

- A 5/10nl regular gave seat 2 $100 for his seat, so he could play at the the table. Most I’ve seen to buy smone’s seat.

- Yep that happened.

- Blue Hat wd go broke and then rebuy numerous times. Each rebuy he requested blacks only (blacks are $100 chips).

- I remember once Blue Hat losing his rebuy before the chip runner came back w the chips! BlueHat don’t care. He rebought again, and yep requested blacks again.

- Blue Hat was in the game for $4k+.

- Yep this all happened.

Sidenote: a month ago I mentioned that a 1/2nl table had a couple $4k stacks. Blue Hat was in that game.

- Blue Hat was drunk, and I kind of felt bad for the guy. Supposedly he is doesn’t care about the money, and had deep pockets. So I played as long as he was playing in the game. All I knew was I had to be home by 6am to get the kiddos ready.

- Security came to Blue Hat because he left an $83 voucher upstairs on a blackjack table. Video surveillance picked it up, and Sec gave it back to him in the poker room.

- Blue Hat wd take long breaks to smoke and play sm blackjack. But get this ****, players from our table wd go try to find him to reel him back to our game. How crazy is that. This happened a couple different times. Players at the table wd tip the player that brought him back. lmao

- Yep that happened too!

- Once Blue Hat was escorted to his seat by another player finding him upstairs. Blue Hat cd barely walk, and the player was holding him up. I started to not feel gd about this situation. It just didn’t feel right.

- The list to move to our table was deep.

- Blue Hat had some eyes on him from the suits. Almost got kicked out, but they still let him play.

- Blue Hat finally ran out of money, and he left. I thought for sure everyone else at the table wd get up and leave, but only a couple of us did.

- Left after 10hrs of play.

- From $700 stuck and very unlucky on the 4 outer that cost me $1300; still booked a small win +$157.

Just another day,
Ray

What a crazy day!! Glad you came out ahead!!

It seems really scummy to be hunting down the guy while playing blackjack, but if he's at the poker table he's fair game. You will face a moral dilemma nearly every day on the felt.

@tsw thanks. I agree it was definitely scummy!!!

Since the World Series is on I'm going to keep it short.

Today
4 hrs 43 mins on 1/2nl and lose -$178.
4 hrs 53 mins on 2/5/10nl and win +$852
Total hr 9 hrs 36 mins won + $674

Played really gd today except for one bad call on my part. I paid off a lag player when I shd hv folded to river bet. Long story short...$20 straddle, I raise to $75 w 1010, and heads up to flop. K 5 6 villain checks, I check behind. Turn is 9 and Villain bets $100, I call. River is 6 and Villain bets $200, and I call. He shows 5sfull. The river bet looked really valuey, I prob shd hv folded.

Down -$1581 in October. Looks like my winning month streak will come to an end. Not sure on the exact months, but I'm thinking around 24 positive consecutive months. I will b grinding the next 2 days, but I have to leave tomorrow around 3 for family matters. Friday will b a short grind also to due to Halloween, and then a house party at the Rayls.
All gd things must come to an end.

Overall: +33,698 in Cash & down-$6,850 in Tourneys. = +$26,848 Overall

*Looks like the Cincy WSOP schedule came out today.

Thursdays Promotion Tilts me hard.

HSI has a promotion on Thursday called "Aces Cracked". In essence, if u lose w Aces u get a $100. This promotion doesn't make sense on any level. I hate playing on Thursday just because this idiotic promotion. As u can tell, "Aces Craked" promo tilts me more than my 3yrd old playing "Let it Go" on the iPad for the billionth time.
Why do a promo where u have to LOSE to WIN? I just don't get it. Players will limp, and pot control to try to get their Aces beat; so pretty much they can have Aces at any given time. Makes the hand range a little nmore difficult. This promotion really changes the game while taking away sm skill parts from the game.
Does anybody like this promo? Mayb on a 3/6 limit game, but no-limit nah. I'd rather win w my Aces than try to lose to get $100. Sure it's nice to get a $100 rebate if u lose a big one, but I rather play poker wo any gimics that alter the game. Today I wd have shoved preflop in a particular hand if it wasn't for this dumb promo. Four limps then a guy in the co limps, I raised 5x otb, 4 callers and he 3 bets when it gets back to him. I was thinking about shoving just because it's a weird line on his part and he had fold equity. It didn't make sense that he limped in cutoff AFTER 4 limpers, then 3bets. I almost shoved, but knowing it's the moronic "Aces Cracked" promotion, I decided against 4bet shoving. I folded. Mayb he limped w Aces to try to get them beat (like 90% of the fools), but 3 bets when he saw the pot building.
Anyways I hate ACES Cracked Promo.

The big talk today in the poker room is this UofL vs. Florida St football game. It's being played just 20 mins away from my crib at Papa John's Stadium. Leggo leggo Cards. A win tonight will be the biggest win in Card Nation history!

Poker is my passion. I want to make it to the top. One day I believe I will.

I like my opponents to play bad poker whether it's their default or they are being encouraged to do so because of a promotion.

Actually, I NEED my opponents to play bad poker. It's not like I'm some wizard.

I'm not gonna say louisville blew it, but they were up 21-0.

The opening drive essentially cost them that game. If they would have at least kicked a field goal they could have drove for a tie at the end, instead of desperately trying to score twice.

Oh, and Bobby Petrino is the biggest scumbag on the planet. Not a cards fan, but don't see how anyone can root for that guy.
