just show your hand if you have the nuts then ask to see his hand afterwards if its that important to you. youll still look bad but its nowhere near as dickish as making it seem like you slowrolled the guy and he wouldnt have been nearly as pissed

^^^ I've got to side with Kato on this one. Consistently fostering a fun, light-hearted and gambly environment that's enjoyable for the recs is far more +EV than gaining insight into the momentary strategy of some rando.

Agree with above. The only exception I can think of (for me) was if this was a real a-hole and someone who kept asking to see my hands, and everyone else's. I had this happen once.

Lol that forcing someone to show when you have the nuts is a "pro" move. That's true only if you're talking about being a professional a-hole.

How do we even know the guy isn’t a reg, I’m
Guessing he is because he got mad. Some newbie wouldn’t be upset.

Dude. Stop making excuses. Its a dick move.

1. Even a newbie knows they dont have to show their cards. And if he was a true newbie, there is a better chance he shows his cards automatically.

2. The surrounding players see this and get offended as well. The entire mood at the table tightens up and all of a sudden it isn't a fun game anymore.

3. The information you gain, are you going to remember a week from now? A month from now? Actively use it in a game plan against that opponent? The answer is probably not.

So most of the the time, its for a temporary ego boost. All respect Ray, but an ego boost isn't worth killing the game for.

(Of course, completely different if the guy is running over the table and the table is getting annoyed)

The best feeling ever is to show a bluff and laugh with everyone..

Here in my country is impossible to make a living of live poker..
The rake is too high and there isn't enough action..

So when it comes the oportunity.. everybody takes the chance to laugh..

Would hate a table with pro players trying to play seriously.. But everyone has their right to play whatever the hell they want it..

The guy put more than his net worth on one stock. That is gambling. I feel bad, but plenty warned him of the possible consequences. He now has to deal with it unfortunately.

^^

Net Worth = Assets - Debt

If you have no debt, and have a house paid off, you must have a decent net worth.

He did not get anywhere close to putting more than his net worth in this stock.

Did he take a calculated risk? Yes. Did Rayz understand the risk? Yes. Is this a risk for everyone? No.

I don't understand all of the hate, it's not constructive to anything. Advice is great, especially from people with experience, but Rayz sure is getting a lot of hate, especially considering how many gamblers and degens are throwing in their $0.02.

GL Rayz!

Pretty much how I interpreted what he did. He had limited cash on hand as he paid off his house. Fair enough, but eventually his margin took him over his net worth (yes net worth is assets-liabilities I understand).

This. Didnt he convince his significant other to back the HEL and he promised he would make the payments? I think in exchange for that she got 50% equity in the house. And then put all of the HEL monies on the NIO stock.

If Rayz is done with this thread, mods should lock it up. A bunch of misinformation being posted by people too lazy to read the thread apparently.

Gonna use some of that leftover putting green for the bottom.

Neighborhood boy kid cameo. Perhaps Shay’s bf?

If u got questions I’ll b glad to answer. I’ll go through the past posts and clear some things up shortly.

I needed a break during Holidays and hope everyone had a good one. Been grinding cash games everyday. No huge wins or anything. Just steady eddy booking winning weeks. It’s been a long time since we had a losing week.

Typically you can use margin for 50% of a stock purchase, the numbers he was posting made it look like he was getting margin of 2-1, not sure how that is even legal, I am hoping I (or he) just mis-understood the specific numbers he was posting.

No. Did the opposite.

In RH, i buy whatever they allow me to buy until I can’t. I hv had 3 margin calls over the Holidays where I hv had to either sell or deposit more. All 3 times I hv chose to deposit. Each one anywhere from $1-$2k for a total of $3,700.

Where did this $3,700 come from? Grinding the pokerz. All my winnings that I can spare have been going directly towards NIO leaving me always short on my liferoll.

We are in the 20,000 share club :/ and it hasn’t been pretty. At one point we were down to $27,000.
On Cmas Eve nonetheless. Merry Cmas me? No worries, it’s all gd. Go for it while we’re living. Can’t when we gone. With market sentiment, I wdnt b surprised if it gets back to $27k. If it does, we buy, we buy.

More times than not I just show. But not opposed to stir up the table. makes gd action at times.

Nope.
Sara owes something like $105k on house before the heloc. $60k was given to me from the $67k heloc.
Once she pays down her portion (7k) on the heloc, then I will pay the rest off (60k). *lets hope I hv it by then. . Following this...She will pick up where she left off of still owing $105k on house... in $700/monthly payments.
