It saddens me to miss the best poker weekend of the year at HSI. Derby weekend is usually insane! If u recall from a few years ago, when I posted on here my +5k session in a 2/5nl game. One whale, Mr. Derby, boosted my br that day. (Post #1229).

This year I'm out of town during the Derby, and def losing out on tons of value. Ugh.

Down -$463 in May.

Love it! I've got family in Destin and have lived all over FL myself: Miami Beach, Delray Beach, Orlando and Venice. IMHO, the Destin/Sandestin/Ft Walton beaches are the nicest in the state w/ Sarasota (Siesta Key & Lido Key) coming in a close 2nd. Enjoy!

Real talk: I was pleasantly surprised Tim Trooper knew who I was when he introduced himself to me tonight at HSI. Nice guy and was easy to talk to.
We sat next to each oth, but at dif tables. We both had our chances to sit at the same table, but never did.

On the gd side of May +170, +345 tonight.

Thoughts on this head scratcher hand from yesterday.

Key players involved:

Straddler: "The Roofer" who loves action more than any Fast and Furious junkie.
Stack size $600 and straddling $10 just about every hand.

Darryl: A regular grinder who plays at a B level and a long term very small winner. He perceives me as a quality player. A few hands before this he limp shoved the $10 straddle for $250 w pocket Jacks and doubled.
Stack size on this hand $550.

Me: Up $200 in the first hour and trying to play a lot of hands w "The Roofer".
Stack size $500.

1/2nl w a $10 straddle from "Roofer" in mp

...4 limps to me, I limp A6, and Roofer checks his option.

$60 Pot. 6 way

Flop: 7QK

One check, Daryl in utg bets $55, I'm next to act and call. *By just calling I'm trying to get "Roofer" or others in there making a play. Also, i think it's best to get max if I wait and raise the turn (if bet to me).
Everyone behind folds.

Pot $170. Head up.

Turn: Q

Darryl bets $150, and I semi-tank call. Darryl bet fairly quickly here, and I am hating this turn card more than changing crap diapers.
I'm pondering in my head... Did he limp pre w another big hand (KK QQ) hoping "The Roofer" wd raise his straddle? Does he hv 77 or KQ? I play w Darryl a lot, and one thing I know here is that he is not bluffing. He has a big hand, but dayum I flopped the nuts. I sheepishly call and maybe this will slow him down on the river.

Pot $470.

River: 5

Darryl jams it in fairly quickly for $340 ish.
I tank longer than semi this time :\.
I know the river didn't change much blah blah blah. So if u call the turn, u hv to call the river blah blah blah jargon. Not true in this instance. I had to re-evaluate, and really ask myself wd he shove a smaller flush after I called him ott? What suited hearts wd he call a $10 straddle pre w that he cd hv? Suited connectors?
Man I was in a pickle and a bit confused in this spot?

Call or shd I fold?

if he boated on the turn, why is he betting near pot?

I perceive his large bet as protecting his hand, a made flush, in case you have the lone A.
(Unless you are known to call pot sized bets with a flush draw?)

the river, otoh, is puzzling if he doesn't bluff.

Knowing that I know he respects my game and still shoves river in this spot led me to believe I was beat.
I folded, he shows 54.
I move onto the next hand w an upset stomach.

On a brighter note, we hit a new record for the challenge. +2021. Much needed because it's been middling this month.

Contemplating on this gloomy morning if yesterday's record score is worth The Cubano. ????? Deep thoughtz

I think last time I was to suppose to break it out was Hammond WSOP CIRCUIT MAIN. The lonely day I let everyone down.

As I write, I come to the conclusion that we wait for something better. #40KChallenge

yeah, his story made no sense.
if he boated on the turn, why bet near pot?
what is he protecting?

but if he didn't boat up, why is he shoving the river?

Solid 1000bb session man! Cool that you got to meet thetrooper97. I actually like a call with the a6s, he could be overvaluing smaller flushes, of course we will run into FH sometimes. It's less than a psb so I think looking him up is fine for that price.

Thanks. Yeah tough spot on that hand. It was so close for me.

Troop and I chatted it up a bit, and I saw the rough beat he took w AQ vs A10 on the splash the pot.

Breaking News:

Recently, I was asked by Neeme and Owens to play in the Vloggers Cash Game taking place 7/26 in Sacramento. Is this something #KoL should be doing? All advice is welcome.

My big concern is travel expenses. Hotel stay is free, but flights not. If I do decide, maybe I can find a sponsor...cough cough @twoplustwo??
I hate to pay travel money for poker! The whole goal is to make money in poker, not spend it. On the flip, it may open doors to other opportunities.

It's a tough spot much like my Ah6h hand from a couple days ago.
I value the feedback on here, and u guys hv always steered me in the right direction. Whether it be poker, stocks, apartment, life style; your analysis hv always helped my decision making. To play #pokervloggergame, or not to?

Long time lurker and from Evansville but play at HSI a lot since my either lives in New Albany.

IMO, @$800 in travel expenses seems small in regards to the amount of YouTube subscribers your going to get which could boost future YT earnings.

It would be great to see you on the show, you one of the OG vloggers!!!
