People with high levels of unearned confidence annoy me. But they can be entertaining.

Ray sold the Melody and has not advanced financially one iota since. If he put his profits in a broad based index fund, he could have paid someone to put in the court and still be way ahead of where he is now.

On top of that, he disparages the U.S.A, which is one of the very few countries he can get away with this. Good god!

honestly think he's fairly representative of a solid % of the population of the US (i am an American for the record).

- ignorantly overconfident
- an unwillingness to comprimise or even reasses situations
- the absurdity of how he spends money (how much he spends and what he spends it on).
- the whole "semi-retired" schtick just wreaks of massive entitilement

i'm sure there are more, but i don't need to belabor the point

idk if thats true. hes got ~300k equity in a house and also survived for 10 years without a job lol

there are large financial and critical thinking errors in the thread but idk man. i think his parents are rich which would explain alot both about him, and most of the decisions in the thread.

Hey man, are you the guy who used to make Youtube videos several years ago? You would always play at the Horseshoe (Indiana?), and you would purposely never rub the big horseshoe at the entrance. You drove a jeep, and owned an apartment building. You also had around 40k in a stock you would talk about. If this is you, I enjoyed watching your videos, and found them very entertaining.

Why not move to a decent country? I'll pay for a one-way ticket to any country in the world for you if you renounce your american citizenship.

(I should stop with these Ambien induced posts)

- ignorantly overconfident Really? We are the world's police. Who's Navy keeps pirates out of international waters, thus enabling you to live you cushy life?
- an unwillingness to comprimise or even reasses situations We were the originator of conquering countries and not taking any for ourselvess (think Japan, et al)
- the absurdity of how he spends money (how much he spends and what he spends it on). Again, we are the world's police, it costs money
- the whole "semi-retired" schtick just wreaks of massive entitilement

I could go on and on, but if you think American exceptionalism is not real, you are in my opinion an imbecile.

(Sorry for the derail, Ambien has it's side effects)

i'm not sure why you're trying to make this political. what i said had nothing to do with politics. i dont think anyone wants this thread to delvolve into political discussion

i'm not sure why you turned what i said about people into some discussion about the US foreign policies.

i said people from the US are ignorantly overconfident and you're talking about the US being the world police?!?! there are plenty of things that we're ignornatly overconfident with that have nothing to do with politics. go ask anyone how good of a driver they are. an unusually large amount of people think they're excellent drivers based on some random metric they cite but in reality most people are **** drivers

i talk about an unwillingness to comprimise or reasses situations and you're talking about the conquering contries?!? wtf? you're taking this to way to big of a scale. look at all the people who believe "the customer is always right". there are many people that will die on this hill even if they are shown proof they are wrong.

i mention how and what he spends his money and you're talking about being the world police again?!?! you're really thinking about this at too grand of a scale. we had a whole ****ing recession in 2006/07/08 because people bought houses massively out of their price range. Keeping up with the Jones' is a legit thing that happens. we are a very materialistic county. i don't think this is a controversial statement

none of these things are uniquely american, but we do a great job at doing them.

what a ****ing piss poor response and i agree you should not post while on Ambien.

A) i never said anything about the country, i said a statement about the people. there are 300+ million people in this country. a solid % displaying some combination of 1-4 in my list doesn't mean there are no good people here. additionally, even if someone displayed some of the qualities on the list, it doesn't necessary make them a bad person.

B) no country is perfect andi have no issue dealing with situations as they arise in my daily life.

C) even if i wanted to leave, i have a spouse and children, and to a lesser importance (though still important), parents/in-laws/siblings/friends that we enjoy seeing. moving is not a unilateral decision i can make in my life because i value the opinions of my spouse and kids

D) its a big ****ing country, land mass wise. it's not hard to find a place that's acceptable to most viewpoints

lol, such a long response to an admitted Ambien post that he probably doesn't even remember making.

How about you guys take the politics to the politics forum or at least to a thread I don't follow. Please?

Mods,

please temp-ban me after this post. I know it's going to kill me not to no respond to the commie responses.

Just a couple points:

1. Countries are made up of their people. The USA is lapping the rest of the world. Go ahead and prove me wrong. Micro states and states drowning in oil don't count.

2. If the US is so bad that you need to single it out, then Johnny, you can claim asylum in another country (how often does that happen?)

3. US exceptionalism is real (not from a religious standpoint).

4. just to mitigate this derail a tiny bit: Ray, can you appreciate that you live in a Great enlightened country that has given you unparalled opportunities? Where else could you have done what you've done?

5. I apologize for this last point, but: Anyone over 40 who votes Democratic is a joke. (I'm not a republican).
Btw, I like jokes.

6. Finland is the happiest country in the world. They wouldn't be so happy if Russia or the Nazis ran it over (thanks American led NATO). Plus the US Navy keeping the pirates out of international waters enabling the Finns to enjoy their first world life.
