If you are a student you are not obliged to declare taxes, however as soon as they find out you play "professionally" you can get into a ton of trouble. Especially since they only considered the turnover in some cases which lead to tax receivables of over $500k even though the player profited like 200k with a total turnover of 1,2kk. Meaning you can easily go broke if you run bad.
ITs still more or less a grey area however there will be some sort of regulation coming up soon ( I assume until mid 2015 the latest). Its unkown what exactly is going to happen, however for me personally it might turn out really bad with all my results being displayed so I would rather close the blog now and don't take any chances.
I would like to thank everyone who read this thread. This blog has been a constant companion during my poker career. I have come a long way from being a lowstakes 180 men grinder to playing tournament highstakes live and online and beat midstakes cashgames. I am convinced that part of that success comes from keeping track about your progress and share it with other players/readers as I did in this thread.
I still havent posted the tripreports about my stay in canada and my trip to vegas. I kind of like the idea of having some sort of tripreport blog with the occasional online/strategy content, but haven't really decided yet.
I would like to finish by quoting my goals/aims out of my very first post in here:
7/10 and some of the fails are still somewhat takeable ( e.g. playing the Main Event in 2014 instead of 2013). Very happy about that result!
It's time to say goodbye. See everyone at the tables or live trips! Next upcoming live trip is EPT Barcelona!
Thanks again to everyone who supported me and all the people that I speak to on a daily basis about poker which is one of the main reasons I have become the poker player and person that I am today!
