Flight C of event 1 was a fantastic experience for me. I'm finally thinking more in tune with how my table perceives me, and I'm following game flow much easier. I think not doing so is a leak I developed grinding bovada. Anyway, here we go!
I had around starting stack, around 24k, despite having a great read on most of my table, at 200/400. I opened J9s utg to 800 into the new BB player. We're 50bb deep and I want to play post flop with the player based on his demeanor/appearance. He's an older black gentleman with a pile of 1ks and 500's for his stack, suggesting to me he at least hadn't been successful in stealing anything for the last orbit he played at his table. Negligible info, but still. New cutoff player with about 50k 3bets me to 1700. The cutoff is probably mid 30's white guy with a very calm table presence. He has a lot of 25's and 100's in front of him. As this was the 5th hand he had sat down to play, I wanted to stand and not let him 3bet my utg steal, which I assume he recognizes. I 4bet to 4100. He thinks for a while and call. Flop is K42r and I bet/fold to his shove. loldynamic set my mistake
At 250/500/50, I have 16k in the BB.
big stack villain is holding his cards like he plans to fold if action is opened before it gets to him, and when it isn't, he raises to 1150. He's in the hijack.
Action folds to me in the BB, and I have AKo. I 3b to 2700. He ponders for a while, announces all in, and taps the table and mutters well played and he shows me A6o. I now have 32,000 at 300/600/75.
I believe the fact that I 4bet and folded to this villain earlier would cause him to want to play back at me again when possible. I knew he would have a wide range here and a capped one at that due to his pre-folding. It all clicked and we shoot off from there.
After I induced two bluffs from the player to my left for 22000 at 600/1200, I put my headphone on and got in the zone. Up to this point I kept conversations going, kept the table lively, played with the dealers', etc. Everyone was having fun. I threw on Seattle ****ing Supersonics "****tiness" on repeat and listened to the three players to my left talk about how big my balls and brain must be, and proceeded to share hand histories of mine throughout the day. Once they were done stroking my ego, they let me take a ton of pots uncontested.
Things got funny at the table when my cute massage girl friend came by to admire my chip stack. I was introduced to her the day before, and whenever she'd come by, the table would try to make fun of my "skills" or whatever they called them. Honestly, I was too stuck in the crushing mindset to remember exact dialogue, but it was hilarious. On break, my friend and I smoked and laughed about it. Our best guess was they weren't able to take my chips, so they wanted to laugh at me the only other way they could. I don't really see how making fun of a guy for talking to a cute girl is in anyway actually making fun of them, but what are ya gonna do? lol.
There was neat a spot vs the guy two to my left where he defended his button and raised my cbet pretty big on a 33A board. I wasn't really considering 3betting him, but I wanted to make sure this guy was on edge and wouldn't do this with less than a big Ace. I asked if he had a small pair and he said "let me check" I laughed and mucked, he showed AQ. Thanks, Zach! This guy really wasn't going to be bluffing at me ha.
I have some pictures to send out, but the internet in the hotel is super spotty. I'll try to get them up later today.
1pm restart tomorrow! Let's ****ing go!!!!
good luck to everyone I know that's still in...bikram, zach kessler, igor, etc etc gl gl gl gl
