Hello everyone. This is my second attempt at a poker log, the first one was a Stud HL challenge that never quite got off of the ground. While Stud HL is still my favorite game to play, it isn't exactly easily accessible. That and just a general disinterest in playing NLHE made me stop playing poker all together, and instead focus on math/coding stuff for sports betting and a general interest in probability in general. With no sports going on right now (not that I am stupid enough to bet MLB, I just don't know if my main sport NCAAF will even happen), I thought it would be a good idea to devote time to playing poker again. The best part of poker is that there's always a game going, and I want to get back into it. Rather than play NL, I decided to start learning how to play PLO. PLO8 is a fun game, but again it isn't super accessible, so I will be sticking with PLO, and occasionally will play a session of PLO8 for fun. What draws me to PLO is that you want to draw to the nuts, and it just makes sense to me in the same way that split pot games like Stud8 or PLO8 draw to the nuts as well.

I do not have a set bankroll for this. I have no plans to do this professionally, I just want to learn the game and get better, and use this to track my progress. I will be playing PLO5 at Ignition, and move up when appropriate. Obviously it is hard to tell given the swingy-ness of the games and I do not want to be overconfident in my ability, so I will err on the side of caution when moving up.

Before ending this post, I want to post a hand that I just played:

Hero HJ (132 BB) open As4s6c8d to 3 BB
Button (101 BB) call
BB (220 BB) call

Flop (9 BB)
KsTs5h
BB Check/Hero Check/BU Bet 7 BB/BB Folds/Hero Raise 24 BB/BU Call

Turn (57 BB)
9c
Hero Check/BU Bet Pot/Hero Raise All In 75 BB/BU Call

River
9s

Hero Win
Button shows QdJh2dAd

Analysis:
Should probably be folding this pre. Hadn't played many hands in the past half hour before being dealt this, and got too lose. That being said, I think flop play was fine. Leaning towards folding to that turn bet, even with the nut flush draw. Would like to hear you all chime in.

Thank you for reading, I look forward to updating this

Only had 100 hands today, but honestly ignition time clocks are just too long. Really slows down the game. I might need to start 2 tabling but really don't have the bankroll to do so.

I do not have a HUD so I manually tracked my stats:
VPIP: 38%
PFR: 21%
3Bet: 5%
WTSD: 7%

They do not seem too bad, but I think I should close the gap between the VPIP and the PFR. Hard to say after 100 hands though

Another positive day. Feeling good, but also running a little hot. No specific hands, but I got DriveHud so I will start posting hands as soon as I figure out how to do set it up on Ignition.

Last 2 Days: +$3.74

The last 2 days have been profitable, but my last session (first with DriveHud) was not. Just way too overconfident, and really played some bad poker. Wish I could post a hand, but DriveHud copy and paste is just not working for some reason. I will have that fixed for the next post.

On the topic of DriveHud, how good is their EV calculator? Seems fine to me but wanted to make sure.

Stats through 40 hands (lol):
VPIP: 25.6
PFR: 10.3
3-Bet%: 0
AF: 0.3

Looking forward to getting in a good study session tonight. Planning on just going through the session, only 100 hands. Wish I could get more volume in, only 100 hands per hour while 2 tabling, but I start playing my C game near the end of the hour, so I have to quit
