Obv it´s your time and your money, you do whatever you want to do. It´s not horrible, even the old Magorko played for a living all the way from 2nl and up. My opinion is that it´s just not optimal.

While I suffer from the same "problem", I still think getting better and moving up should be a priority. In 12 months, all levels will get a bit harder, and winrates should drop (for the same skill level). So, IMHO remaining at the same stake is not that good if you want an income, even if it´s just a side income (bc your "salary" will be decreasing). Also, where is the mental stimulation in stacking off donks all day every day ?

Unless ofc you´re at midstakes++, then you can get stuck there forever and do just fine

The side income I can make even at nl2z (4-tabling at ~10 bb/100) is very decent money to me, and very helpful to supplement my work income (especially since hours are still reduced).

So, I know a lot of people don't like the idea of withdrawing at nl2, but until I hit 50k hands at nl2z (which is not that much longer), I will withdraw anything over $100 in my BR. So I've withdrawn $51 now (which is $67 CAD). And I'll continue to take a weekly paycheck from poker, no matter what level I'm at. Most of the time, I'll probably use 75% of my time for playing to cash out, and 25% of my time playing to try and move up. Something like that. Will figure out specifics each time I reach a goal and set another.

Please don't start arguing/hating about how this is horrible, or how I'll never get out of the micros this way. I'm well aware that it'll take a heck of a lot longer to move through the micros. But my main goal right now is to use poker as a means to make money. A couple hundred a month from nl2z is definitely enough for me right now to pursue this direction. And each time I eventually do move up, my side income will keep on increasing.

Cashing out also helps me feel good about playing poker, which is a big motivating factor to keep putting in the hours. Volume is taking a bit of a hit right now cause of the NHL playoffs. But once they're done, should get more hands in.

Withdraw: $51.84
Total withdrawn so far: $51.84

Out of interest, what country are you from?

No hate intended, but Mirage has a point. Nature of the game indicates you´ll see a downswing eventually, and this has the potential to be quite problematic to your mindset/mental game imho. One factor ppl had back in the good old days that you don´t have anymore is the rakeback stabilizing your winnings.

Sorry for lack of updates. Got an unexpected monetary gift last week, and didn't play much poker. Spent some time downloading the trial version of Finale, and started playing around with it and composing some music.

As far as poker goes, cashing out at nl2z now isn't really necessary. So I'm gonna just go ahead and start playing nl5z. BRM for nl5z is a bit on the aggressive side, but if I lose too much, I can always deposit some more. Will be playing less hours (maybe an hour or two a day), because I want to spend more time composing.

Will post a graph for nl2z in the next couple of days. Ended up with I think 48k hands, with WR a little above 8 (had a nice stretch of bad luck to bring the WR down a bit lol ).

Yeah, you should definitely send us a demo

Right now my advice would be to reduce the volume since you don´t need the $ anymore (- hours, - tables), but unless you want to lose any progress you made, please keep playing a reasonable volume lol. Also, this would be a very stronge indicator (to yourself) that you´re improving the discipline, as you stated in post #1.

Not sure why but I hate the quality of that clip - it sounds like an old midi file from the 90's. Maybe that's just the software.

However musically I think it's really nice which is the main thing! If that's your first effort you can probably whip up some really nice tracks musically, just need to work on the sound quality, whether that's through changing software or just getting better at using what you have at your disposal.

I completely agree. I was using the trial version of one composing software. I bought another program with better samples yesterday, and created that piece in this new software. I also tweaked a few things. It's night and day between the first version, and this new one. I especially love the improvement in the trombone solo quality lol. Anyway, check this new one out. Sounds closer to a live performance I think.

New version of composition

Let me know your thoughts!

EDIT:

Tweaked a couple more things. I changed the link to the newest version

Thanks for checking in haha. Actually, around a couple years ago (probably about the time I stopped updating), the best thing that could have happened to me, happened to me. I found Jesus Christ.

Many of us here, are blinded by the world’s ambitions, such as becoming wealthy or famous. But it is all a distraction. A distraction from the truth.

If we can’t see the truth, we will continue along our path of sinful living, never realizing that we are destined for an eternity of suffering and torment in hell, when all is said and done. Because we have all sinned against God, we are all condemned.

————————-

The good news is:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son: that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)

Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins according to the Scriptures. He was buried. And he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.

“For by grace are ye saved, through faith, and that not of your selves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

If we have true faith in Christ, then his righteousness is counted for us, since he died in our place. He suffered for us, and was sacrificed for us, for all of us who are children of God through faith in Jesus.

So how do we find faith?

“So then, faith commeth by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17)

Read the Bible (the 1611 Authorized King James Version), the word of God, with belief that it truly is God’s word to you. If you believe, and God sees that your faith is true, you will be born again, and will receive his free gift of salvation.

———————-

Around 2 years ago, I picked up a bible (well, read one online), and spent almost every spare moment reading it, cover to cover. Took me a couple months. Somewhere along the line I believed and was saved.

But we need to repent; turn from trusting in our selves, and trust in Jesus (who is God). We need to choose who we will serve. Will you serve the one true living God, and receive the gift of eternal life? Or will you choose to continue serving sin/Satan and be thrown into the lake of fire at the day of judgement, burning for eternity.

Your choice. I’ve chosen God, and with it, life. Jesus is my Lord, and I’ve never been more at peace. The world no longer can do anything to me. I have been set free. I have no real worries about anything, because my trust is in God. I know my future.

I no longer play poker, because it is a game about worldly gain and ego. Both of which are values of the devil, not of God.

If you have read all the way to the end, I thank you, and urge you to heed this warning, and do not put it off, thinking you still have time left ahead of you. None of us are guaranteed another day, nor even another breath. Seek God, and you will find him.

No one loves you more than God does!
