What's up guys!

I'm super excited about starting this thread. It'll just be nice to have somewhere besides my whiteboard to track the progress of my poker and life goals and maybe help someone along the way!

About me:

Just coming up on 30 years old, and have been playing live cash full time for just over 5 years. I'm an east coast grinder and have spent the majority of my time in Maryland, playing at Maryland Live Casino. I play primarily 2/5 NL 1k cap. I've taken some shots at 5/10 NL in the past but haven't been successful enough to stick, not to mention the 5/10+ games in MD are prob some of the tougher 1knl games in the country.

I've always thought it would be awesome to grind FT online but for some reason have never been a consistent winner, well it's time to change that! As most of you know, the casinos around the country have been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic so since I've been grinding on PokerBros and Global Poker.

The plan:

I wanted to go ahead and get this thread started but probably won't start updating consistently until the 1st of April when I post my goals for the month. I want this thread to serve the purpose of keeping me accountable for my hours and quality of play. It's always been very hard for me to stay focused sitting in front of the computer for hours so this will be a challenge for me.

For now, I'll be grinding primarily 100nl 6m on Global but will add in PokerBros when tables are limited on Global. I'm currently stuck 1.8k on PBs since starting the beginning of this month and have had a nice start of +2.1k on Global after depositing just a few days ago.

I started off playing 200nl FR but will be moving down to 100nl 6m. I think learning 6m is the best idea because if I ever want to move up, this is the variant that runs the most. Gonna get my feet wet at 100nl to see how things go before playing 200nl.

I also have some other life goals outside of poker that I will probably be tracking here, mainly being health and fitness related.

Excited to get started with this and maybe even find someone who enjoys reading my awful writing lol.

My results (will just post overall results and YTD for now):

Lifetime:

YTD:

I'm getting my goals together for April now so will post those either tonight or tomorrow! See ya at the tables

Thanks bro! I really have no idea what kind of win rate I should be expecting since online poker is so much different than live but hopefully it'll all work out!

Alright guys, so I have my goals thought out for April!

April Goals:

*Poker*

1) 180 hours of 100nl (plan on most of this being 6 max)

2) Profit 2k (seems low tbh but I have no clue what bb/100 I will be making while transitioning from live to online. This is assuming I make around 3bb/100)

3)4 hours of study/wk (will be mainly RIO videos and reviewing HHs)

*Life*

1) Lose 15 lbs

2) Walk 30 miles

3) Track & stay under 2.4k calories/day for at least 25 days

4) Consistent 11 pm bedtime (This schedule isn't great for poker but I want to try going along with my chronotype to see how this affects my energy and productivity levels)

All of my poker hours will be on sites that don't allow HUDs so I'll be tracking my results using my Poker Income Tracker on my phone, hours played and hourly will be pretty accurate.

Excited to get started! I plan on updating these goals every few days with a detailed weekly review on Mondays. Lets go!!!

I suck at poker.

No matter the results I have playing live, I still struggle to play online. For some reason, I have major mental games issues playing online that I NEVER deal with playing live. For this reason, I'll be changing up my goals a bit.

Today I lost 10 buy-ins playing 100nl, a lot of it was my fault. Such a shitty start to the month and challenge.

So for the remainder of the year, I'm dropping down to 50nl and just plan on studying a lot to improve my game. I will win consistently at 50nl before moving up again. The rest of the goals will be the same besides the stake.

Results today:

But I did get my walk in!

*Poker*

1) 180 hours of 100nl [6:27/180]

2) Profit 2k [-988/2000]

3) 16 hours of study [00:30/16:00]

*Life*

1) Lose 15 lbs [Will be weighing in once/wk but starting weight is 322.6 lbs]

2) Walk 30 miles [1.55/30]

3) Track & stay under 2.4k calories/day for at least 25 days

4) Consistent 11 pm bedtime [So far so good. 1/30]

Won't be updating the results every single day but needed to today since the goals were being changed. Also, I tracked PokerBros and Global at the same time and it added up the times which is why the time played is off.

Heading off to bed, hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Bad start mate. I’ve heard that if you beat nl25 online you can do ok at 2/5 live. The games are a lot tougher, maybe post a few of the hands.

Gl at 50!

I've played a bit of 50nl and 100nl today. I just need to keep my mental game in check. I think I can beat 100nl and bankroll isnt the issue so I'll probably just go back depending on how things are going.

Would prefer playing 100nl against tougher competition so I can improve my game. And good idea, I'll try to note some HHs to get some feedback!

April 1-3 Update:

Poker has been better and I'm still consistently getting 1.5 miles of exercise every day! I haven't been tracking my food intake but have lost ~4lbs so far so as long as I'm consistently dropping weight and sticking to a ketogenic diet, I'm not too concerned about tracking my food although it's still a goal for the month.

Results so far this month:

Session breakdown:

MapMyRun:

So as stated previously, I still plan to grind mostly 100nl as long as I can keep my mental game in check because I still think I'm a winner in the game by some margin. I signed back up to Upswing Poker which will be where most of my studying will be done. I just plan on getting in the hours and improving my game every day! It would be awesome to get to 200nl in the next 3-6 months.

Good luck at the tables and hope everyone stays healthy!

April, Week 1 Review:

What's up guys! So I wanted to log on and give an update on the first week of the month. Things didn't go that well but am happy about some things this week, still have alot to improve though!

*Poker*

1) 180 hours of 50nl-200nl (updated) [56:16/180] Ahead of pace here. Happy with the hours played but quality of play hasn't been great. I'm actually limiting myself to 3 tables at a time to hopefully make better decisions and focus more on player tendencies (and be less of a robot).

2) Profit 2k [-634.41/2000] As you'll see below, we are up slightly on the month bc of an MTT run on PokerBros but for the purposes of this thread, I'm just going to keep up with the cash game profits in this section.

3) 16 hours of study [2:15/16:00] Slacking here. Standard for me though. Gonna try to do better next week.

*Life*

1) Lose 15 lbs [Will be weighing in once/wk but starting weight is 322.6 lbs] Weighed in this morning at 319.8 lbs so we're down 2.8 lbs but behind pace. Did really well with my walking goal but didn't track food at all and had a couple cheat meals. Gotta do better here.

2) Walk 30 miles [10.7/30] Super happy about this goal. My girlfriend and I have walked the same 1.5 mile trail every day which puts us well above pace!

3) Track & stay under 2.4k calories/day for at least 25 days I suck. Haven't tracked a single full day which is definitely hindering the weight loss goal...

4) Consistent 11 pm bedtime [So far so good. 7/30] I've been in bed every night by 11pm!

Graphs and such:

Cash games only:

Cash + MTT:

Cash graph:

MapMyRun:

So I definitely have plenty of room for improvement.

I hope everyone has a productive week and stays healthy!

Gl! And did I read that SD right on your results? 6k for 8bb/hr.? What's that all about? Did you win a bbj?

Probably not particularly relevant in a thread about online, but why no MGMNH?

Sorry, SD? And yes, I have just over 8bb winrate at 6k hours. That doesn't include any promo money, thats always added into the tournament section, just like keeping it separate.

And I've always lived so close to MDL and was too lazy to drive down to MGM lol. But I do have some hours there, they are just further down on that screen and didn't think it was worth an additional screenshot.

And thanks! Things are going better now.

Standard deviation (SD) for your bb/hr. is a whopping 6k. I'm just wondering if you've had some massively winning/losing sessions to contribute to that number. Have you had a lot of $10k+ winning sessions?

I really like MDL myself. I took a break to play more at MGM for a long while, then I got totally fed up with MGM and took another "break" at MDL. I was impressed with what I saw when I returned.

Hmm yea not sure why that number is so high. Really never have 10k sessions either way... Weird, never even noticed that stat.

But yea I like MDL. MGM is way nicer and obv more traffic. Most likely could make more but would have to schedule my day around traffic and that gives me a headache lol
