Hi every1 and welcome to my blog. I'm 20 year old low stakes player from Russia. Last year I created similar goal thread, but I gave up after my first post, cause I lost motivation to play, was lazy and procrastinated most of the time. This year is my last year in university, so I want to play poker for living after I finish it and now I'm very motivated to work, play and win hard.
One useful thing, that I did in 2014 is my switch-over from fullring to shorthanded games, so now I'm playing reg and some zoom tables of 100nl. I have five global goals this year:
Earn 60-70k$ with rakeback
Earn 300k VPP
Finish my university
Cashout 50k and buy a flat
Finish this year on 400nl+
My first step to 60k will be ~350k hands of 100nl until first half of March, so I need to play about 5k hands per day and I decided to do it on zoom tables. I'll post regular updates every 20k to keep progress under control.
Subbed. Good luck man. Im in the final year of my uni as well and Im trying to make poker work for me as a job as well, though im starting from the bottom.

Thanks sir.
I have some problems with unnecessary moves (read bluffs) at the tables, so I'm gonna penalize myself after bad moves with couple of push-ups, may be after that penalties I'll play more ABC stuff
Not a good start of the marathon, tried to play 5k, but only 4k and -3.5 BI as a result. Made a couple of mistakes and lost a lot of money in 3 and 4bet pots vs fkng sets, about 3-4 BI I think. Some regs made incredible things, like calling 21bb 4bet with TT in 60bb effective stacks on the big blind vs EP (!!!), hitting their sets and donkbetpushing, this stuff is really annoying. So I finally decided to grind regular tables instead of zoom, wanna bumhunt'em all.
So now some funny hands from the first session:
1) Vs reg, I didn't expect that he can push so wide range here, may be I have a big fold to 5bet, who knows
3) Vs loose guy, sb vs btn 3b 19%, cbets in 3b pot 65/33/41, ch-fold turn/river in 3b pots 49/68. Don't know should I turn my hand into bluff or not, if u have some thoughts reply pls.
It's pretty hard to play 4-5k per day on reg tables, cause of 500h/hour, so I decided to post every 10k progress, this is my first results:
Spoiler:
I'm a little upset about my zoom results, so now I change my priorities in favor of quality instead of distance.
Interesting spot vs unknown villain. Don't know what to do on the river, this 5 on the turn confused me and I put him on overplayed Kx hands or spew bluff, any thoughts?
I got a cold for a couple of days and was on vacation for about 5 days, so I played only another 10k hands. First profitable stretch from my welcome post and I've played it without hud , tried to play only my ranges. Gonna make 5k today and post my January results and March goals.
Yeah, I did it! Got 7 hours, 5400 hands and 1400 VPP, record volume for me in one day, will try to keep it up in February! So my goals for this month are:
It was warm-up month, a lot of tilt, random buttonclicking sessions etc, but tbh in the end of the month I brought myself under control and got pretty good volume, so I'll try to do my best in February.
Here are my results in numbers: Cash -87.75$ МТТ -544.97$ Omaha fun -228$ HH -50$ VODs -33$
So -943.72$ and about 250$ profit with potential supernova rakeback, which I'm going to cash after I finally get this one. No more omaha, no more MTT's, only NLH ring games in February!!!!!
Preflop: Hero is MP with A K
UTG folds, Hero raises to $3, 2 folds, SB raises to $9, BB calls $8, Hero raises to $25, SB calls $16, BB calls $16
Flop: ($75) 6 5 6 (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $78.80 and is all-in, SB calls $74 and is all-in, BB folds
Turn: ($223) 8 (2 players, 2 are all-in) River: ($223) Q (2 players, 2 are all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: $223 pot ($2.80 rake)
Final Board: 6 5 6 8 Q
SB showed A Q and won $220.20 ($121.20 net)
BB mucked and lost (-$25 net)
Hero showed A K and won $0.00 (-$99 net)
Awful day, worst day of the year, -9 buy-ins. I'm really tired of losing and playing without profit, I think I can't beat 100nl atm, so I decided to move down to 50nl and play here a little bit to earn some money and return self-confidence.
Not a bad day, played 50nl, was surprised about line-ups at the tables, field is very soft: a lot of rec players, a lot of dumb regulars, a lot of tilting regulars, who start doing crazy stuff after third 3bet vs them. Regulars are trying to hero call a lot, don't imagine their calling, 3betting and postflop ranges, so I think I can expect about 2-4bb here. But ofc I need to improve my game too, so I'll start watching RIO VODs and post some hands on this or russian forums.
Tomorrow plan: 6 hours of play, 1 VOD and post 2 hands.
Very productive day, played 5600 hands and 7 hours. Decided to play in new format to reach 1k VPP day pace: first two sessions on 50nl in the afternoon and third session in the evening on 100nl with good select.
Tomorrow plan: 6 hours, hand history review from last sessions.
