Desktop > Laptop for sure, grinding on my new laptop is alright but def prefer a desktop, although having a laptop TVd to it so you could move around would be ultimate setup imo.

Yea unfortunately I'm taking it every day, but I'm taking a very small amount, and don't plan on increasing dosage. Might look for a more permanent solution to my sleep problems next time I'm in the US, but for the time being, planning on taking em unless I can't get them...atm down to <2 bars and none of the farmacias in town have em (rain)

Got showered pretty good today, ran pretty bad all day. W/e, got in a good grind, need to get better at managing my table count; had wayyyy too many up a few times today.

Gonna be off to bed hopefully within 2 hrs, gonna start season 5 of Mad Men in a couple mins after updating my spreadsheet and then hit the hay. Big day tomorrow, gla

melatonin man. all natural, some ppl claim enhanced dream states but not for me

In humans, melatonin is produced by the pineal gland, a small endocrine gland[29] located in the center of the brain but outside the blood–brain barrier. The melatonin signal forms part of the system that regulates the sleep–wake cycle by chemically causing drowsiness and lowering the body temperature.

i guess you started managing your table count right around game 300 right?
07-27-2013 , 07:18 AM
No, had more tables up than ever then . Peak hours=greater table count than right before/after peak

And boliver, no idea where to get melatonin down here, asked at a few places for anything to help sleep when they said no xanax (asked 'tienes valium o algo como eso?' in my non perfect spanish but they knew what i meant and got showered). Ruse went with me 1 time to a couple places too and asked same thing and then asked if they had anything else more natural (like melatonin) and they said no...couldn't even get benadryl anywhere lol.

Woke up way late, hard to get up in the morning with the xanax. At least for the time being I don't wake up every hour of the night like I do when I don't take anything; actually getting good sleep is refreshing.

Update to come at the end of the day, gla!

While on the subject anybody have any suggestions for decent desktops that aren't overly expensive and good enough to mass table sngs? Thanks
07-27-2013 , 11:47 AM
Do you know the exact problem with the sleep, bud? I myself have sleep apnoe and need to have smth like a mask during the night to not be completely dead in the morning. Might be worth checking out and go to a sleep clinic, before having this mask/machine during puberty life was just a sleepy nightmare lol

The lack of working out and not eating right won't help either. Dont really know about ur lifestyle atm, but i know it was bad in the past.

+1 to regular workouts helping sleep. When I'm grinding a lot and not exercising, falling asleep/staying asleep gets much harder IME.
07-27-2013 , 02:27 PM
I suck at sleeping too, always had trouble, still do sometimes. Diet and exercise are the 2 things you should change before anything else imo because they are most likely the cause. I'm starting to learn that changing your diet fixes a lot of health issues (seems obvious but almost everyone including myself overlooks it). For example, I used to always get headaches, WAY more than the avg person, up until about a year ago when I eliminated a lot of sugar from my diet, namely soda. Now I barely get them, if I do its from straining my eyes looking at my pc/tv.

If you don't feel like exercising try doing this instead; sit in the hot tub for 30 min, every 5 min or so jump in the pool and then back into the hot tub.

I'm not good with computers at all, but I'd just get one built with everything needed. Im not the person to give suggestions, but maybe someone that regularly posts ITT can

Yea I've had problems sleeping for a few years now, I'm sure mostly related to what I do and the unhealthy lifestyle I've lived. I got used to that, but after randomly taking half a xanax bar one night and getting a really good nights sleep, I obviously am thinking to myself 'wow I want this!'

Anyway, there is a woman who lives in my tower who is a health and wellness coach who is connected to the poker players that I've talked to this afternoon, and I'm going to do this '10 day detox program' with her most likely; had a good convo on skype just a bit ago and I'm gonna get the manual regarding the program sometime soon so I can make a decision.

Besides this program/cooking for players, she does healthy smoothies (which obv are part of the program as well) on the side as themselves and I've ordered them from her off and on for the past couple months, so already have dealt with her a bit and know her and feel comfortable with her etc.

It sounded promising, my main problem is I can't cook so I can't always get healthy food in me....I eat at Mongolian Grill a lot as it's much healthier than almost anything I could prepare myself. Usually just get a bowl with chicken and then load it up with veggies and been laying off the peanut sauce and other stuff that is bad for you to make for a not so bad meal. But having someone cook organic/vegan type dishes for me sounds like it could be awesome, so yea, pretty stoked to take a look at the manual after having an ~30 min convo on skype just a bit ago.

Gonna get in a couple more mini sessions and then head to Lipo's place, possibly get dinner with him and some of the fellas, then off to bed! Gla on the grind, will post a poker update after I'm done playing today

Not gonna let you *******s take my $$sies, so gonna put in a 10 hour MTSNG sesh tomorrow . 6m Hts usually super gross on Sundays anyhow, so should be fine that I'm lowering my VPP/hr for a day to play some softer games.

Gonna do the 10 day detox program, probably starting monday pending on talking to the girl tomorrow when she delivers my smoothies! Pretty excited, hoping that these 10 days will go well and that I can continue to have her prepare my meals for me past this 10 days and that I can perma kick some of my super bad habits and start getting more healthy.

During these 10 days, no bananas, no cigs, no alcohol, no xanax/other drugs, no soda. These are all things I use every day, so not exactly going to be easy, but I need to do this. I'm guessing my energy level will be lower than it usually is so my volume might not end up being that good, but my health > poker and 2mil vpps, so I'm more than willing to accept lower volume for hopefully something that can help me both now and for the future. Def won't push the poker volume during the 10 days or right after it, will put in as much as I can w/out overdoing it

Anyway, gonna go watch some Mad Men and then getting dinner, 2nd to last day of free choice on what I eat so gotta make it count amirite .

Gla on Sundayfunday, will have an update when I'm done tomorrow

Damn, probably going to be way harder than a poker prop. Good luck!

what do you guys think the best way of reviewing/studying hands or your game is? how do you guys do it? new territory for me. Go to HEM and see the big pots and go over them? Do you use a certain program to plug in ranges and see what you should be shoving with? thanks and good luck!

Oh yea for sure gonna be a ton tougher; was just talking at dinner with my buddy and realized this is gonna be the first time I've gone w/out meat for more than maybe 3 days at a time in absolutely forever (like since I was first able to eat 'people' food). Pretty crazy to think about, but I'm pretty excited about the opportunity to make a positive change in my life.

I'm hoping that after these 10 days I continue to not smoke cigs, not take stuff like xanax, and then cut down my blazing and alcohol intake down to 'social events' only. Same with soda, maybe have one when out at dinner sometimes, but never just have it in my place just to drink. I've already cut down my blazing by quite a bit, going from being high 24/7 the back half of 2012 to just blazing after I'm done playing for the day, so hopefully I can continue with progress in that general dept of vices.

Aso during this 10 day detox, I'm going to be conscious of getting in enough exercise per day. I've done pretty well with going out and hitting against the wall (tennis) and taking some serves every morning, so I've been getting a bit of exercise, but gonna try to do more of it during this 10 days and hopefully it'll become routine.

Also going to attempt to start meditating. I don't know much about mediating at all, but it was in the manual for this 10 day detox and it's something that I think would be healthy for me both in this 10 day stretch, and in the future. So gonna spend some time tomorrow after my session reading on the topic so I'm a bit more aware going into Monday.

Overall, this 10 days I'm really not going to worry about poker and instead worry more about my own health and body. I doubt I have ever done that before in my life; there's always been something more important than that, and in this 10 days, I'm hoping to start fixing all the problems I have. These 10 days can't just fully turn my life around, but it can be the stepping stones to a new me, which is pretty exciting!

Heh sorry for rambling, I'm kinda drunk, super high, and took my last xanax

Edit: Didn't read above ramble after writing it, srry in advance if there's grammar errors or spots that don't make sense

I'll send you a PM tomorrow, or we can talk on skype. I think we have each others skype, if not, mine should come up with my name

It's definitely gonna be pretty tough, especially the first 5-6 days. If I were you I wouldn't plan to grind a heap during this period, as you will probably be both lethargic and moody/crabby and therefore fairly tilt-prone.

I would suggest you leave the learning to meditate until after you do the ten days too, you don't want to take too much on at once.

As an aside: the concept of a 'detox' is just something made up by the health industry to sell products/services. What you will be doing is withdrawing from a few substances and eating well, which is really good. The human body does a perfectly good job of eliminating toxins each and every day, and the suggestion that we accumulate toxins that need to be eliminated by some special process (the 'detox') is patently false.

Bit of a ramble, haha. Good luck over the next coupla weeks.

I know it's an old and irrelevant to the topic but this is kinda bs.

I'm on my third laptop now and all my laptops have been through these things:
-On 75% of the time all year, I'm just lazy and forget to turn it off often
-often transport
-very very high amount of data transfers
-and most significantly, gaming that makes my laptop basicly boil .

I DO maintain it well cleaning it out with condensed air cans every 4 months or so etc.

1st laptop completely died after 3,5 years.
2nd laptop can't take gaming or anything that puts serious strain on graphics card anymore, but is fine for office/internet use, going strong at 4,5 years. (my dad still uses it a few times a week and I'm sure I could still play poker on it if I wanted to as well)
3rd laptop (bought new one since I wanted to have a laptop that could easily play SC2) have had it for 2 years, it's starting to age a bit (noticed laptop gets hotter and hotter during gaming) but no real issues yet.

3 laptops combined have cost me like 3,2k euros and total time period will be well over 8 years when I buy my fourth.

Transportable hard drives, now that's something that is a pure scam . I've had like 4 and 3 failed after <1 year and 1 after <1,5 years. If someone knows a good brand that actually doesn't break fast, please let me know.

i got many prob;ems with harddrives too, my western digital 1Tetra is > 3years , often transport and got many many powercuts. still working good

Xanax withdrawal or that of any benzo (Klonipin, Valium, etc) is as excruciating as Heroin WD and can cause death. (rain)

Take this as gospel: You NEVER want to withdrawal from Xanies.

Act accordingly if you can.
