Ah haven't experienced this in a while......woke up today to the tornado sirens going off, for those of you who don't know, they sound like air raid sirens, and I live between the fire station and courthouse in my town, both of which have one, so it's really ****ing loud where I live.

Edit:
Ah found a video of the courthouse's siren being tested, I live about 2 blocks away and then 2 blocks the other way is the fire station....as I said, loud as ****. Skip to 1:50 to avoid boring nothingness

Semi quickly get my bearings and ran downstairs, where my family has the news on TV and the police scanner going, and my mom and dad are making the call of whether we should take shelter in the basement, which they ultimately decided not to as it looked like the storm wasn't big enough to do any real damage in my town.

Quite the fun way to wake up though , my town takes tornado's very serious as one of the worst 5 tornado's in US history hit my town back in 1967, and we've also had 2 semi bad tornados touch down within 10 miles of my town during non tornado season in the past 5 yrs, one nearly 3 yrs ago to this day and the other in January 2008 or January 2009, idr which.

1967 tornado video

Anyway, now about to be on our way up to Wisconsin to meet up with my grandparents for lunch and to watch the Packers game, gla today!

Ever notice how many roadside/highway sex shops Wisconsin has?
11-17-2013 , 01:49 PM
What is amazing is only 24 died in this tornado! Looking at the video and pictures of the school bus, doesn't seem possible to survive at all. thanks for sharing this video as this is a reminder for those of us who live in the Midwest and play on stars, I mean merge.
Anyway, I am glad you are traveling to the best state of the world, and hopefully this team can get their quarterback situation taken care of, cause when the pack play on feb2, 2014 in the meadowlands, they will need to have that position shored up to win that game.

Since our government took away stars for us, these sex shops were quickly closed down also.

You're in Illinois where those sirens are going off, right? If so I better keep my ears alert, I live in Columbus (OH) and that storms headed straight for us.

Yea it was quite amazing tbh, 12 of the 16 buses at the HS were overturned and smashed up,all of them filled with kids as school had just gotten out. I do know that a lot of people were injured in some capacity though, somewhere near 500, and at the time, the town probably only had like 4,000-6,000 people in it, so a good amount of the town was gg'd.

My mom's one cousins house was completely picked up off its foundation and turned around during the storm, amazingly none of them were hurt; but pre tornado their house faced west iirc and after the tornado it was sitting east, pretty crazy what 240mph / 390km/hr winds can do.

Yea (yn) this kid looks good today, if not, hopefully Matt Flynn can come in and pick up the pieces

This was posted on Reddit, supposed to be some place in Washington, IL after today's tornado

some comedians have done bits on it, I forget who...but seriously why the **** would people continue to live there, rebuild their homes and lives every few years, and just suffer through it. When I was in St. Louis we had those sirens too and they went off a ton and houses (mostly on the outskirts) would get so destroyed. Naive spoiled brat from california I guess, but I really don't get it. ...

why would anyone want to live in the land of the fruits and the nuts? tornado's are very isolated versus hurricanes and such in the damage that they do. Why people live on rivers that flood, on the coasts the have hurricanes, or near fault lines that move occationally, near hills that mud slides down? where is a good place- mars or L.A.? same i guess. Rebuilding is fun, especially on some elses dime i guess. Where is the perfect place- as long as you can play on merge i guess it doesn't matter right?

well for the record I haven't lived in cali for over 4 years and don't plan on ever living in that totalitarian police state of a country ever again...but perfect place is fairly easy to qualify - good weather, good prices, good infrastructure, good looking girls, good food, good people...that's about all for me personally. Peru 2014 FTMFW!!! on that note I'm in buenos aires now and this place is the nuts in most of those regards, although winters are too cold and summers are too hot from what I hear.

getting back to the tornado thing though, I am sure if you asked jdwag parents, who, if they were in that bad tornado back in the 60's, that they are probably terrified of tornado's to this day- when the sirens go off, however,
I have yet to see a live one, and when I here the sirens I go outside to look for one- just my stupidity I guess,
These tornados though are like a small fart compared to that big Typhoon Haiyan that just hit a week or so ago.
Anyways don't let these twisters scare you from the Midwest, a small price we pay for the gorgeous women we have here.
just look at a random one I found

Thread definitely needs more Ruse in it (sun).

WRT that discussion above, they all suck; tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc, personally think tornados suck a lotmore than earthquakes though but heh, if I lived through a bad earthquake, maybe I'd change my mind.

NIU won again tonight which was sweet, pretty absurd they dropped in the rankings to #16 in the nation, and are still behind Fresno St as I'm pretty sure they've played a tougher schedule and had more convincing wins, but hopefully they'll sneak into a BCS bowl game once again. I plan on going to the game next Tuesday, home game where they attempt to clinch the perfect 12-0 regular season. Hoping it won't be so cold out there this time

Haven't been up to too much lately, a lot of relaxing and playing GTA (2 story mode missions left, The Big Heist and then the final mission, idr name), and when I'm not doing that, have been studying quite a bit. Actually had my MU sold in the past few days, have a pretty sweet opportunity and am really looking forward to improving my game immensely, lowering my table count in 2014, and actually winning pre RB while also getting 3mil VPPs.

We're 20 days off my return to Mexico, I'll be moving into my new condo the first day I'm back, and hopefully will be back on the grind either that night or the following day for sure. I think I will start my 2014 PG&C thread before returning to the grind, as I want to start tracking some stuff better once I get back, plus start writing out daily goals both for on the tables and for IRL, and honestly, I want to forget about the absurdity of this yr, so starting fresh a bit before 2013 ends doesn't seem like too bad of an option.

About to go to bed and watch some tv before passing out, gla on the tables! (heart) (heart)

+1 Boliver. Reminds me of ppl on the FL keys or Outer Banks of NC. You know your **** is gonna get wrecked by hurricanes every 2.5 years yet you just stay and rebuild. Part of it i guess is the american way of not giving in to terrorists/natural disasters... Part just people hate change but the economist in me suspects the cost of living, job markets, housing costs, etc are overly beneficial to compensate for the costs of dealing w that every few years.
