Re: tax in Mexico. The mexican government doesnt tax your winnings but as long as youre a US citizen they expect you to give them their cut, even if youre living abroad. If you get a certain kind of visa and limit your time in the US to just a few weeks or something, you can greatly reduce the liability you have.

I think that its odd you may not be a US resident but they still want tax money.

I don't know specifics on the issue but I would look into that, but I am certain they will want you to NOT be marked as a US resident if you live out of the country over 6 months of the year.

Like i said before if you live outside of the US for a certain amount of time (way more than 6 months) and get the visas to become a resident of another country, it will greatly reduce your tax liability but wont get rid of it completely. As long as youre still a US citizen, they want a cut.

If you remember the recent FB IPO, there was talk of one of the higher ups thinking about renouncing citizenship for that reason.

Everything that Ruse has posted is correct....you have to live outside the US for 330 or more full days to be tax example for up to iirc $95,100 worth of income under the foreign income earned tax laws. The only way to get out of said tax obligation is to renounce your citizenship, and that is probably a bad idea . Also, if you're renouncing your citizenship to avoid taxes, I'm pretty sure that might be a federal crime (but am not sure).

WRT MB, I pay $40-45 every time I w/d, but that's the only vig I eat and I w/d in 5k-20k chunks, so its <1% vig

It is not a crime to renounce your citizenship for tax purposes however you are legally obligated to pay taxes for 10 years after you are no longer a citizen in many cases (that is definitely one of them).

As of last year you have to pay a total of 0% of your winnings in tax. Any other potential income is ofc. insanely taxed compared to basically any country.
