OP still should ramp up his mental game, even without playing ever a hand again.

Leave the man alone guys

If there’s a season 3, that means that he failed with his current goal and nobody should want that.

You only got yourself, 6b. I wish you luck and hope you don't gamble again.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. And special thanks to the people that reached out to me and gave me advice about studying and careers.

When I say I'm "quitting poker", I want to clarify what I mean by that: I don't plan to play as a full-time job anymore.

I can't guarantee that I won't play poker ever again. I might play a bit next year, next month, or even next week. But if I do start playing again (no guarantee I will), then poker will just be a secondary thing for me. I won't let it consume all my time or energy anymore.

And so it ends... or continues one could say.

Only 6b can decide to pursue a math degree after failing at 100NL/ 200NL.

The problems that keep finding their way back into your life, are consequences of your own internal world. Therefore, looking for external solutions such a new career/ path, money, possesions, will never ever result in lasting success.

This is just the "to be continued" part. He's gonna chill, then find a job, probably the forklift one he mentioned (or something similar). Then he'll post about how he's going to play semi pro to bolster his income, but word it like it's his own clever idea, after people have been telling him to do that for 16k+ posts.

@ 6b....Not hating, it's what you should do. It's what most of us do. Don't let a profitable skill rot. Don't overestimate your skill level. Don't put unneeded pressure on yourself. Gl, and looking forward to season 3.

Question: do you still consider yourself to have been a "professional poker player" over the last few months? (while living rent free at your mom's house and spending money hand over fist and having binked large in two tourneys)

Spoiler:
Please say 'no'

Sounds like a decent plan. When you start playing again, I think you should move to mainstream sites. It was only last month you had plans to move over to those sites and crush 200nl games, because you believed you had the skills to do that.

Exercise is great for your mental health but I highly recommend seeing a psychologist as well. A few years ago when I was going through a tough time and starting the transition to playing poker for a living I saw a psychologist. It was very helpful both in terms of my life and my new career. You don’t have much to lose by going and you have a lot to potentially gain. Good luck.

6betme, I went back to University a couple years ago to study Statistics, fwiw I'm roughly your age. It's probably the best decision I've ever made.

Advice: Treat your studies as a structured grind (do a better job at this than you did with poker) and work on side projects that interest you in your field that you could potentially show future employers. If possible apply for internships.

GL and stick with it. Tell your mom and wife to hold you accountable. You can do it

What's the difference between "rent free at your Mom's" and parked in a van outside your grandma's again? But no, let's really play the game of "who was really a pro".

I'm not claiming to be a professional poker player, that's the difference. I'm an unemployed bum.

As "Professional poker player" is not a protected term everyone, including 6b, can call themselves a professional poker player if they want to.
