Here's the deal. I have to have $8000 in 30 days or my mom loses her house.

Here's how I got here. My mom was in a serious car accident about 6 months ago and has been in a long term care facility since then. I was under the impression that my sister was taking care of things like the mortgage, but it turns out she hasn't paid a penny of it. That's a whole different story. Where this leaves me is needing to have just shy of $8000 by December 12th or the house goes up for bank auction.

I started my own business just about a year ago and am completely invested in that, so I don't have the savings or extra income to shell out. I currently clear enough to barely cover my bills. What I do have is $1200 and a wealth of live and online poker experience.

Here's a bit of background. I played for a living full time and fully supported myself playing 1/2, 2/5, and 5/10nl in Las Vegas for 2.5 years. I played online starting back on Party circa 2003. I had a minor roll on FT before Black Friday and only made my initial deposit.

I live in Arizona now and I'm going to take a shot at running my $1200 up to $8000 before 12/12. I'm going to be playing a 1/3 spread with a $300 max buy. I obviously am not rolled for that game let alone something bigger. I should be +ev in the game, but I haven't played more than 1 or 2 sessions in the past 12 months.

I'm playing my first session tomorrow and will keep this updated in case anyone wants to follow along. I can't promise NVG level entertainment, but I'll do my best. Im going to bring my run good with me!

If you think I will succeed, fail, miserably, or make enough to retire in the next 30 days, let me know. Any thoughts, encouragement, or insights are appreciated.

Bankroll:$1200

Thanks! I 100% agree it's a bad idea. I don't see any other outs though. No one else is going to pay it and I'm not just going to sit around and do nothing.

Unfortunately no. I'm leveraged to the hilt and have been self employed for less than a year. I don't think a loan shark would spot me, lol. The house was purchased just about two years ago and there just isn't any equity to cover the needed cash out and warrant closing costs, etc. Thanks for the positive thoughts!

Session one in the books. I had about a 4 hour window between some work stuff. Nothing too eventful. I'm playing 2/3 spread with a $300 max buy. For bankroll sake, I'm buying for $200 which seems pretty standard in the game.

I ran my first buy up to like $380 pretty quick and then shipped it back in a set over set hand, standard. I rebuy for another $200 and win a few small pots. I run it up to like $320, then I get Qs 9s in against two short stacked AJ's on a Js Ts 4d. Ship one to the hero.

In for $400 out for $858, so +$458. I had to handle some work stuff, but I'm going to log another couple hours tonight. I'll post after with hopefully some interesting hands and positive cash flow.

Bankroll: $1658

Good luck! Why can't you use a credit card and or multiple credit cards to pay off your mom's mortgage> And get siblings or family members to help pay>

I wish you the best but I gotta say putting my parents poor financial situation on my shoulders for my poker career has been an absolute burden.

Ha! Trying to Martingale would be one of the only ways to make this worse. If it gets down to the wire though...lets hope not.

I logged another 2.5 hours and am calling it a night. Still no real hands of note, just standard stuff you'd expect for this game. I made $202, so all in all it's been a good day for progress towards the ultimate goal!

I do want to clear a few things up. I'm not trying to play poker for a living, been there done that. I'm also not trying to financially support my mom long term doing this. As someone stated I'm simply trying to Happy Gilmore this. Save moms house and mission accomplished. I can cover the normal monthly expenses, but because of the delinquency the bank wants all of the money to bring the loan current, so no payment plans or partial payments. Hence this current challenge. I've exhausted all other options to cover this debt and am truly doing this as a last resort. I can't win by showing down, so I have to shove!

Between my split sessions today I'm +$660 for the day! I feel good and want to thank everyone for the run good and well wishes. I'll keep posting updates and answering any questions or comments. Goodnight, you princes of Maine....

Bankroll: $1860

OP quick question. If you get to the last day and your BR is like 4500 will you put 3500 on roulette?

I would try and run it up at the blackjack table before roulette.

If it does get down to say a week out and I feel like there's too much ground to cover, I'll probably take some shots at bigger games. I can always crash in Vegas for free and it's only a 4 hour drive from Phoenix.

I'm playing at Talking Stick in Scottsdale. As far as hours I'm shooting for 6-8 during the week and 10-12 on the weekends, 50+ on top of my normal job.
