Hello you beautiful bastards to quote Ozzy man

A little bit about myself before we jump into the plans here, I am 23 years old, student in the UK, who played spins all of his adult life. Since 18 years old I played spins anywhere from $0.25 to $50 including flash games. And although it is a fun format which had a lot of positives, it did absolutely kill the fun of poker for me. Grinding 8-10 hours every single day to get into a leaderboard or to win a rakeback race, simply was not fun anymore. I played on and off, depending on what was going on in my life, but did not touch the format for about a year.

Spins did have a bunch of positives that carry on well into other formats of poker, first one being the swings, its kind of fun to see how cash game players can absolutely mald about loosing a couple of buy ins, where spin players have days of loosing 50-100 buy ins in a day, of course not common but can happen, the EV deals can help there but still soul crushing. Another thing is checking results, I could go 2-4 weeks without checking results as there simply was no need. It would tilt me if anything so I simply did not do it. In cash games I will be checking the results once a day as I need to upload them from GG to PT4.

Now onto what will happen here, the answer is: I honestly don't know. I don't plan to be a NL cash game pro, at least for now, but I want to have fun with poker again, see what the game is about, and go deep into some spots. I will be starting at NL5 on GGpoker playing reg tables, as I do have a deposit limit I could only deposit $200, which is okay I can go through the journey with aggressive BRM. Starting off low will show me how the players play there and the general dynamics of the game.

To start off with 20k hands on 4 reg tables on GG poker, and we will see how that goes! No plan to chase the lb or rakebacks there as well, what happens, happen . GL

Good luck. Did you have any crazy 500x scores playing spins?

I never hit a jackpot, but I had a couple of 100x and 200x, some won some lost, but the thing is when you are playing an ev deal you give most of those winnings back to the pool. Again killing the fun, unless you hit that rare jackpot, which over 100k spins i never did

Decent morning session today, playing 4 reg tables, was thinking that it is hard to get value, people are generally pretty nitty, some of them are leaderboard grinding and multitabling, but got this donation to start of.

Do you guys recommend any learning tools to put into my routine? Was looking at GTO wizard, to have as a warm up with the trainer, is it any good?

advertised well by the Twitch streamers who get hefty rb discount (which is needed if want to beat that insane rake )

Just clocked there is a preflop rake on GG, so with no plans to grind leaderboard and have some sort of rb boost, its best to find an alternative. Will go back to stars for a bit see how that goes, maybe jump into the zoom pools, but feels like I play to fast in those.

Played my first session on stars reg tables, looking good so far, plenty of limpers, unfortunately a bunch of short stackers as well where the strategy probably varies quite a lot, so need to be careful there.

2nd STARS Session

I mean if anyone says that these games are unbeatable must be mental, they are as wild as it gets, with absolute maniacs on each and every table. Unfortunately the run was not the best to build the bankroll as I lost couple major all in preflop hands, but it is what it is. Will probably play 5k of NL5 and then go to NL10. Need to do it this weekend, as I am flying out on Monday.

Bankroll: $350
Stars profit: $34
Hands Played: 3167

5NL - DONE

I think we can tick off NL5, small sample size, but don't plan to stay on a stake like nl5 for long. Insanely soft stakes, if someone on nl2/nl5 is struggling on zoom, i really recommend reg tables. Hopefully I won't have to drop back down from NL 10, and not sure how long it will take to go to NL25, might deposit a bit, if I feel like the roll is too small to shot take, and I am beating NL 10. We will see how it goes.

Bankroll: $403
Profit: +$86
Hands stars: 5k

Thank you

Went to play some live poker at a local casino today, what an experience that is. Went with 2 buy ins at 1/1, was up for a bit but eventually lost it all. Quite a lot of fun hands, and the guys were absolutely mental, 0 preflop folds, flops were shown more often than dicks on omegle. Biggest pot was versus quite a drunk guy, insane action whale. Some limpers came, I raise 55 on CO to 6BB we get 6 callers. Action player donks £10, someone calls £10, on a 543 flop, so I raise to £50 and we stack off with the action player. Turn 2, river X. Shows up with Q6o for a 300bb pot. Had loads of fun tho, a good experience, will definitely go back but need to clean up my game. Probably no point raising suited gappers in a game like that were you go 4+ to the flop.

First 10NL Session

Probably last session before I travel for 10 days, long session about 7 hours of play on 4 reg tables. Started the session rough and swingy, maybe was involved in tad too many hands, some less lucky than others, but managed to climb it back towards the end running slightly above EV. Plenty of interesting hands in that session that I need to go through, but first I need to find a way to look through these hands effectively. If anyone is playing similar stakes or maybe one higher and is willing to talk hands let me know!

Graph from today NL 10

A funky hands, not sure if it is a bit too creative, but because we are deep and his turn bet felt weak, I decided to push him off the hand, turning my hand into a bluff heavily blocking QJ.

DONKAMENTS

Got some tickets on Skypoker to play a bunch of donkaments, fortunately there aren't many people playing so the tourneys are over in an hour or two. Today I was playing a £11 bounty hunter with about 25 people. On the final table with 5 left I got it in AQ vs AJ and J came OTR to kick me out, but still cashed £21. Got £34 on Skypoker, will play the tournaments there and maybe jump into one table of cash as NL4 there was incredibly soft. We will see how that goes, maybe one bink to boost the bankroll a bit.

EYOOOOOOOOOOOO

Been over a month, let's write something up here

NL

Well the NL dream is dead, I don't find the game nearly as enjoyable as I think I would, maybe its because I played so many spins, its just not that exciting of a game format for me to play, and I think I would rather start with something new, fresh and exciting.

SPINS

After giving up on the NL, I went back to playing spins briefly on one of the main sites, and rakeback grinding is okay, provides a good income, especially if you are in an ev pool, the swings are not bad, but you are just battling regs all day on 9 tables to get into the leaderboard, a literal grind, feels like a corporate job.

OMAHA

And this is where the exciting part begins, I played some omaha on Party poker FF tables, and it was going quite well, 2 tabling, getting some RB, and felt like the tables were quite good most of the time, but the thing is FF no longer provides the option to really climb the stakes as PLO25 runs, and then a big gap until PLO200. But I didn't stop there managed to get myself on the apps, and currently playing PLO60 on a stake, I also dabbled in 5 card PLO, and I like the format, the games are incredibly soft, playing of people vpiping 60%+, multiway spots everywhere, but I really need to learn the game to play it a bit more, went under EV quite heavily as I found myself overplaying AA preflop, which surprisingly has quite a lot of folds in 5 card omaha.

GOALS

Don't think we need to wait until the start of a new year to set some goals, so lets ****ing do it right here right now.

POKER
I have never really liked studying poker that much, I am more of a gamer, always wanted to play and get to the highest of stakes or places, in whatever game that was. But in poker that is pretty much impossible to do without putting in a decent volume outside of the tables, fortunately the quality of tools and videos over last years has increased in quality where it is now in a very consumable format, especially the jnandez 5card stuff. If you know of anything else I should have a look at let me know.

When it comes to the games themselves, I am quite busy writing up my dissertation until mid September, but still want to put in a decent volume. The games are quite a bit slower on apps, I am currently 5 tabling standard omaha, and learning 5card. Id say anywhere from 5000-7500 hands per week would be a decent result. Will have to look more closely at the RB I get, and set a goal there so I have something to grind towards, like those chests on Pokerstars. Also want to watch 1-2 videos per day, and play 100 hands in the plo trainer, before every session.

Training
Always like exercising in whatever form it was, currently Im going out for runs, usually 30 minutes, and just signed up to a local gym, which has that nice little underground feel to it, where if 10 people get in, its already packed, and everyone says hello etc. So I will be going there as well, doing some boxing on the bags, and the goal is to do some form of exercising 6 days a week.

POKER GROUP
I think its much easier to improve if you have people with the same interest to talk about the game and share hands and analyse. Currently I do not have that, so I plan to make a group of 3-5 people or join an existing one to help me improve around the game. If anyone wants to take on low stakes player let me know!
