Quarter of a Million in 2013 Challenge Quarter of a Million in 2013 Challenge

Right, seems like everyone is starting one of those so I thought I got to start one myself.

I am Rednaxela747 on Stars and at 38 possibly the oldest person playing 1knl on Stars as a reg. But a bit about my background. After completing my PhD in Math London I had a successful career in investment banking. During that time I played a tiny bit of poker but as a fish. I rember going to Vegas in 2010 and sitting down at what I thought was a fixed limit holdem table only to discover it was a no limit table (which I never played before). I also could not remember whether a flush or a straight was better. Anyway, I stayed seated as was embarressed to stand up. Needless to say I lost my buy-in within 15 minutes. Though I started to do some reading straightaway, and I somehow managed to win some turbo donkament there on the day of my departure.

Did not play much poker after for a long time but in the middle of 2011 I decided I wanted to try and see if can become a poker pro (as my job was coming to an end by the end of the year) and do something that I thought I would enjoy. I started doing some reading straightaway and played some NL10FR on Stars at the start (1 tabling like a boss of course). By the end of the year when I went pro I was beating NL200FR on up to 14 tables. On 9 Aug 12 I made the best decision of my poker career which was to move to NL 200 6max. Less than a month later I was playing NL400 6max and added FR back to my game selection. Shortly after I was playing NL600 and by the beginning of December I was also playing NL1k and dropped NL400 mostly. I never had a losing month since starting out and I never looked back on my decision.

Here is my graph since going pro until today (pre rakeback and excluding tourneys and live winning):

Goals for the year:

- Make $250k from online poker
- Play the WSOP Main Event

Thanks. Here is requested graph of my results before going pro. Please note that I only started playing cash NL online in July 2011. Only NL cash I played before were the glorious 15min in Vegas, everything else was playing tourneys as a donk:

Stars mean point of interest, eg. 100k, 500k, 1mln hands

This goal is so everyone is surprised when you're battling regs at 200/400 by the end of the year, right?

Ha, I am 100% sure I won't battle 0Human0 and Sauce at the nosebleeds by the end of the year for many reasons. Also not sure I should be flattered or insulted by everyone thinking that I will crush my goal. If I reach 250k this would still be double what I made last year which I think would be a good and realistic results. Obviously will take it if I make more

Kind of tough to answer that as I moved up/improved, etc. Give me a timeframe and I am happy to post results by stake.

And thanks again everyone for following and supporting me.

Time for a year to date post. Started out coming from a heater end of last year. Then had a couple mixed days at the start of the year followed by my worst day ever last Friday @ -$7.8k (when I don't even think I played that bad), followed by my third best day ever at $6.8$ on Saturday and followed by my best day ever on Sunday @ $7.5k (and by far the best in terms of EV as ran at about EV).

Then on Monday played some really horrible poker, especially in the last 2 hours when I probably played my worst session in months. One reason might have been that I did not have a day off in ages, so took yesterday off and had a sick good session this morning (in terms of how well I played, not how much I made).

Results YTD:
