As a former midstakes MTT pro who hasn't played professionally in over 3 years, this thread and challenge is just to hold myself accountable and put in the volume while scratching my butt at home.

I now reside in the U.S. and was recently layed off during the shutdown due to the coronavirus. No big worries or pressure though as I will be receiving $1,100 per week in unemployment benefits from the state (thanks Donald).My wife is also working from home.

The goal is to reach a $5,000 bankroll without redepositing. My initial deposits are as follows : $200 on bovada and $100 on America's cardroom. I had some success over the past week and the bankroll currently stands at 1k.

Willl be grinding mtt's from $5-$15 BI's for right now.There are also these $6 "on demand" turbo sngs on ACR which I like to add If I don't have many tables. These fields are incredibly soft and think I can print at these stakes. I play under the screenname AbernathysAss on ACR.

A little background: I'm a 29 year old European male who used to play poker for a living. I have lived in Sliema in Malta grinding online MTT's and visited various EPT stops on the circuit back in the days. Grinded cash games in Barcelona(what a beautiful city) and partied hard in Prague with hookers. I have/had a terrible affinity towards alcohol. Alcohol really f**ked up my life at times and it's something I regret. If I could have just controlled my drinking a little and taken the game more seriously, I really feel I could have been a highstakes mtt reg.Alas, it got out of control and it was time to make some life changes. I got out of poker and moved to the US to work a regular job(Lucky enough to be a citizen here although I never spent much time here).I do now feel more stable although really missing the poker grind at times. Overall, I do believe my current situation is for the best. I have found a solid job that pays well with benefits etc and I found myself a beautiful South Korean wife.


I have some funny Degen stories if anybody is interested. All of them involve alcohol ofc and/or coke.

Finished yesterday down 40 bucks after some near misses busting out of 4 mtt's in the final 2-3 tables. I had a 2nd place finish in a $15 dollar "on-demand" sng for $135. Games are increbibly soft on these U.S sites. Haven't grinded in 3 years now but feel like these games play much tighter than pokerstars or non us-sites. Bovada is a joke. Will keep grinding and once I hit a $1,500 br I will move to up for some shots at $20 buyins while still grinding $5-15's

$1100 a WEEK in unemployment?

Following the introduction of the CARES act introduced march 27th due to COVID-19, an extra $600 per week will be added to unemployment benefits in NY. This will be added to the standard $505 per week. I believe it will be in effect for 3 months during this crisis.

Ran like sh*t today had some cashes but nothing deep. No worries will just continue grinding tomorrow. Took Saturday off which was nice. Didn't get any volume on bovada today. I may need another monitor just for bovada mtt's because they don't "pop up" when action is on hero so that's kind of tilting and I keep timing out. Does anyone know what's a good evBB/100 for mtt's these days?

I'm no MTT expert, but I believe that we measure MTT win rates in ROI (%), not in bb/100.

A good ROI in soft fields might be 50% but again, I'm no expert.

Hey thanks for your input man .You have a great thread. Yes that seems to be what's used for mtt's but I was just thinking it would be nice to get some stats for bb/100 seeing as it's used in cash games and can help by position.

Does anybody here have good advice regarding annuity withdrawals?? Our union has given us the option to make a one time 10k withdrawal without penalty(usually 20% early withdraw penalty plus more taxes) due to the coronavirus situation. I have not touched mine ever but this seems like a one time shot because of this unique situation. I just wanna know if im gonna get screwes next year on my taxes...If I got to a lawyer in nyc for advice im gonna get f&**ek though.


Just started a session now 4 tabling on bovada ...

Gonna prob fill out application to take out the 10k (minus 1k for 10% federal tax withholding) this evening. Will put 6k into savings account and use 2k to buy oil. The other 1k i'm prob gonna invest in bitcoin or just put into my acorns account(very cool app).

Finished 4th for $135. Ran A8cc into AJ btn vs sb. Only one hand i'm disappointed with. I should have bluff shoved river on Q557J. BTN fish limps sb chipleader completes and I check BB. it's checked thru but BTN check on turn is him sitting out. SB min bets river. I have way more 5x than him and he's just so full of **** it's a mandatory raise for me. I had air but it was my biggest mistake of the ft not taking this spot.

Busted 50th in 16.50 5k gte on ACR. Cashed for just under 40 bucks.Cashed some small turbo on bovada.

So I haven't done any work with solvers but i'm assuming that it would advocate a 25-33% c-bet here at quite a high frequency?

On river is check/calling better than going for value here? He might have some broadway hands he wants to turn into bluffs here

Ugh gross finished 6th AJ<A7 for $262. Really wanted to ship that to get br over 2k...Just have to keep grinding and putting myself in those spots.
Had a win in 6$ on demand sng for $80 and 3rd in a $15 sng for $65. Last 3 tournies of the day and all finished within 3 mins of each other.
