I'm going to be playing a whole bunch of mtts next month with my mtt backers and outside of that I hope I'll be able to find some big 2/5 games and maybe a juicy 5/10 or 2 if they get running at Choctaw.

I briefly viewed the first and last page of this thread. 100+ pages is a lot to look at..if you haven't answered this already, have you had a losing month this year? From the sounds of it, $1k profit a month to you is considered running bad.

Well...it was bound to happen, first losing day of the month. I made sure to get my money's worth tho, most I've ever been stuck...3k

Game was pretty good, lost a 4k pot with 56dd vs 74ss on a 7d4d2c flop...we got it in on the flop, I turned more outs with the 6h, but Qh river made me call it a night. Sigh

Probably going to take the weekend off and finish up all the Christmas shopping/planning plus spend sometime with friends.

Thanks!! I've been pretty fortunate to have had pretty consistent results...takes quite a big load off the shoulders with the consistency.

Come on guys, that is a ridiculous question and honestly the question is not even relevant to the thread. Many salaries or business profits are public information either voluntarily or by choice, and you would never go up to them and ask "I know what you made this year, are you planning on paying your taxes?" What kind of a question is that?

I think it's an interesting question. The job of poker pro isn't the same as the types of jobs you reference above. Salary levels and profit distributions are captured via a payroll or distribution system, and are reported by law to the IRS and the wage or distribution recipient. For cash game gains and losses, a casino obviously can't issue a W2G. I wonder if this is something that OP has thought through - it wouldn't be my first consideration if I was trying to play for a living, and now that we are at year end it would be interesting to see when he started to think about a strategy for this, and what it was. Is he socking aside some percentage of winnings in an interest yielding account? Has he planned at all? I think I'd be late to have a lucid plan for this if I were in OP's shoes.

For us who are dreamers and wanna play for a living this is apart of life. Don't think the government does not want there cut. But this is just another interesting plot to playing poker for a living. I did not mean to post to make op feel bad. I am just curious to what happens now because don't think it's all fun and games. Money is money and they will want there cut.

So if your willing to pay your taxes with any other job you do what makes this one any different?

I saw Runninguphill lose all his money in two shoes of blackjack last night... pretty unfortunate but it's a lesson learned I guess.
