The Pursuit Of HappYness The Pursuit Of HappYness

Had a few hours to cool off and I'm going to throw in the towel on the 10 hours/day challenge. The accumulated emotion has built up too much and I don't want to plough through my roll for the sake of my pride and 30$ Also been doing some digging online and I think I'm gonna take the plunge and give Upswing Lab a shot. I'm looking to go through my game from the ground up and fix things as I go and this seemed like the best linear option available. As such, the emphasis will be placed primarily back on studying for the next few weeks. I need to make sure I stay consistent with it this time around so I don't keep going round in the same circle. I study, see positive results and then slowly return to only playing. Then I hit a bad run, return to old habits, lose confidence and then repeat the cycle all over again.

I'm not here to grind out a living at at the micros. I want to do this properly and so I really need to get over my fixation on the short term. 1 losing day at 25nl is so insignificant in the grand scheme of things, it's silly to let it bother me so much.

Anyway, roll stands at $689.55.
I'm going to withdraw $100 to cover the Upswing membership.
I'm going to withdraw $60 to cover the cost of PT4
I'm going to transfer $30 to our lucky winner Clanty

So, that leaves us with a grand total of $500 going forward. I'm going to be reverting to a 30 BI BR management, moving back down at 25 BI's. So I'll be carrying on at 16nl and moving back down to 10nl and $400 - shot taking 25nl at $750. I'm going to be 2 tabling. Real 2 tabling that is. Not 2 tabling for 20 minutes and then 4 tabling when I lose a couple of pots I'll still be playing every day but with the focus on correcting leaks and improving rather than on winning. Easier said that done but then so was giving up weed and I managed to get there in the end

I hope u didnt yet sub to Upswing, I would absolutely for 100$ take RIO EM, I was super dissapointed with Upswing pretty much, never did it again. Or you can take Leak finder with plasticElephant which had a near the same price as far as i remember. Been jumping arround your blog occasionally cuz of your writing <3

Haha I literally subbed like 5 minutes before you posted that. I've had a quick browse and I'm sure I'll get my $100 worth so I'm not too disappointed. I've had RIO elite in the past and barely ended up using it because I was a little lost on what to watch. I struggle to put everything I know together, so was basically looking for a start to finish course in poker and Upswing seemed to be the best of an otherwise bad bunch. Didn't really consider doing a leak finder, that may well have been the better option. Where were you 10 minutes ago?! It's all good though, what's done is done. I'm hoping at the very least it'll help to fix some of the bigger leaks and bad habits I've picked up over the years.

Still here guys. I've been doing a ton of studying so there's not really much poker to speak of. A lot of the earlier stuff on Upswing is very basic but as a whole I'm pleased enough with it. The structure is exactly what I was looking for and it's doing wonders for my thought process. Also, I feel like there's a lot of value is some of the later stuff they've added. Like there's 7 or 8 40 minute videos on playing in 3B pots and an entire section on overbets. These are both areas I'm looking to improve on so having it taught from the ground up should be really helpful. I'm also doing an hour+ a day with a fellow 2+2 and seeing massive improvements in my game after only 2 days. Really looking forward to seeing how my game progresses over the next few weeks.

Haven't played a lot of volume over the past couple of weeks but have been doing a load of studying and 2 tabling, so I'd like to think it's doing my game some good. Here's how the last 2 weeks are looking in terms of results:

The red line's still nice and healthy but my blue line's done a bit of catching up so it's looking slightly better as a whole. It's mostly down to finding more folds on the river. Now I need to do the same with the turn and hopefully I'll see a positive blue line as well in the not so distant future.

I'm still blowing up from time to time and it's really gotta stop. Most of those downswings should've been a fraction of what they were, but I drop a stack or 2 below EV and just start clicking buttons. That being said, I'm also playing a lot more sessions where I'm only making a few mistakes (that I know about of course) - so polar as always .

Goals for the coming weeks are to keep up with the studying, to stick to 2 tables (however much my trigger finger's itching) and to not tilt. I mean, the last one's always been a goal, but more so now than ever. I'll hopefully be back to 25nl within the next few days so I'll update next with how that's going
