The last week or so has been "interesting".

Had to have some wisdom teeth removed (still in pain from that), have had students continue to do well, and I have started to put up some minor results myself lately also.

I've also calmed down a lot mentally and like where i'm at again. I definitely fell into the spiral of where I was putting so much pressure on myself to succeed that i was focusing on the results not being there and beating myself up for it, and the longer it continued and more I lost the more frustrated I got.

Not good.

Can't say I've been proud of how I've acted over the last 2 months, but I can say that I've worked hard to get better as a player and a person and will always continue to do so.

I do now only have a month left in Mexico, and while I am 65k deep in make up I honestly don't feel any pressure anymore to clear before I leave or anything like that. If i do, cool, if i add 10-20k more before I leave, oh well. I've always had mindset issues, and i'm sure its something i'll be working on for a long time yet, but it does feel good to be back into a healthy place mentally and wanting and ready to grind.

Going to have a fun day grinding today, Super Tuesday starts in 6 hours. #leggo

Thanks for following and best of luck at the tables!

I'll be interested to see how your attitude is going forward. The outburst that was publicised in the Sunday thread a couple of weeks ago was entirely unacceptable.

Self-improvement is always a worthy goal, and I hope you achieve it.

i think it allows me to get to river the cheapest and keeps their range the widest, thus i can bet most rivers pretty big for value and get called a lot imo.

Hi protential, read the last few pages of your thread, we have a few mutual friends n you've been at my table once or twice :P

About your mindset, sometimes poker can be really brutal, and I can't preach to you about some miracle cure for getting stressed over the game, coz I get really stressed sometimes. I always say to people if you play well it will show in the long run, which might not make u feel better at the time but it's really true.

The fact that you are grinding on through shows your mental state is a lot stronger than a lot of players. I hope your luck turns around soon, gl at the tables!

I'm still able to keep banging my head against the wall n put in the volume. Has been absurdly frustrating, especially after days like today. (7th in 109 2x, 23rd in 109t, 10th in 22c)

But i know i'll clear make-up and this downswing eventually, i am happy with where my game is at, and honestly have nothing to worry about financially. So....just a matter of time and keeping on the grind.

      GL2u2!

This is my grind so far in Mexico, and while the high costs of WCOOP has skewed my results a bit, tbh I'm down across all buy-in levels (0-10, 0-50, 0-150, etc); which is really sad/frustrating.

I've been running deep 24/7 in big stuff and avg 2-5 deep runs a day (majors, daily 50's+, large field micros, etc) and just haven't been able to close. I've reviewed a lot of my deep runs, and the only thing I've really noticed is that I haven't been "beasting" deep so to speak. So while I get deep a lot, generally I hover around same stack and only really build in all-in type situations (obviously i build a bit in like the usual kind of ways with 3-bet bluffs and w/e, but i never really run the table over). The upside to my current way of playing is that I rarely make big mistakes in mid-late game, however I also don't crush fish as hard as I probably should.

Note:I wouldn't go as far to say I've been playing badly deep, just that I haven't been playing awesomely. Between this and running bad deep, I've had no results. Also I think the downswing in Sept affected my game negatively more than what I thought, and thus my mass tabling game has gotten worse as well.

I've been cutting back on tables again and trying to crank up my aggression and focus on putting a lot more pressure on weaker players.

I think this back-forth between playing tag/aggro is a pretty common among many players as they work on their game and try to become better, finding the right kind of balance can be very difficult.

In order to find my balance I'm going to be doing a lot more work with my backer on my game (he plays a very aggro style). I think between cutting back on tables, working on my game even more than what I normally do, and playing a more aggression based game should help turn my results around again.

As far as non poker stuff goes, everything has been going great. I'm pretty set financially, have everything planned for the next 6months as far as where I'll be and what I'll be doing. Getting out of Mexico should be great for my mindset (will make my bf much happier as well) and thus should have a positive impact on my game as well.

The stable I've been helping with has been going great, everyone is happy with me as a coach/manager and their results are showing it, which has been helping me out a lot financially. I've also been getting in some 1 on 1 coaching hours as well which is helpful for my own game and financially.

I am currently 70-75k in make up (I've added 43k from playing here in Mexico) and while I am quickly nearing the deepest I've ever been, I'm not worried at all about clearing it before WSOP 2013. My only worry is that I'll once again not have enough money to my name to be able to afford travel/etc for WSOP and once again be reliant on my backer/mark-up for funds. Having to rely on some1 else for financial security is somewhat frustrating...

I'm leaving Mexico in 18 days and will be staying in the U.S.A for a week to do Thanksgiving with my side of the family (a first for my bf and I :O!). Should be back in Toronto in just under 4 weeks. Very excited to get back to a major metropolitan and our many friends there, will be nice to socialize again. ^.^

Thanks for reading, and best of luck at the tables!
