There's a big difference between 5bb/100 and 5BB/100 isn't there?

bb = 1 x big blind
BB = 2 x big blinds

Correct?

So I'm unsure which you guys are referring to.

Um yea I think you might be referring to PTBB which is 2bbs. I beleive x/bb refers to big blinds not big bets.

As far as I was aware, bb = BB?

Guess not, BB = big bets (whatever the **** that is). Weird session tonight.

Most frustrating session I've had in a while today. Biggest fish on $15 has been showing bluffs all day. I rock up with AA on my $8 deep stack and he gets it in with 76o. Of course he would hit trips on the river. Another instance where a maniac has been spaz raising every pot pre and manages to wake up with KK when I call my other deep stack off with AQo. GG me. Sucks how an awesome session can turn so ****ty so quickly.

I'm finding myself getting tilted a lot too. I just have to keep reminding myself to accept that I have made the right decisions and that variance is as natural as breathing.

Yep, that's it. It was just frustrating because it was my deep stack and I KNEW he was bluffing. But yeah, I don't think it affects my play much, but I really need to not get so wound up about it in future.

I dont mind getting coolered; I revel in the fact that I played the hand correctly. I get tilted when i play a hand poorly and have lost money as a result.

I don't mind coolers either. However, I wouldn't call 76o a cooler. -_-

Newb ITT,
Upload your photos of your graph to photobucket, or a similar site. Then copy and paste the IMG link and post away

Yeah, you can use the [img ][/ img] tags.

I'm tearing my hair out after tonight's session. Longest session I've played in a while. I got stacked 4 times, and only stacked someone once. I'm ****ing impressed by the red line, that ****'s dope. But this down swing is so bull****. Spent 5.5 hours grinding back to positive after losing set over set and then it all goes in 5 seconds flat.

Going to have to start fresh tomorrow I guess.

Yeah my red line last night was godmode. I saw AAAA vs. Royal in WSOP on YouTube once, but like I wasn't even mad that I lost this pot. Was cool to actually see a royal.

Meale, that KKKK v Royal Flush was insane !!!! You can choose to laugh or cry, you chose to laugh - good to see.

I too have never played in a game with a royal flush. Would love to see it.

My personal best hand is a Q high straight flush. Didn't get paid off.

Played a small live home tourney last night. Have never been so card dead, ever. Somehow still managed to jag 3rd place and win some cash. Used some knowledge gained in this blog - thanks to the strategy contributors.

Loving this blog.

Awesome to see you're learning from this Boomeranda. Is it possible you thought you were card dead simply because you're used to playing more hands/tables?

Yeah you could be right. But I played for 5 hours, had pockets 4 times (4's, 5's, 9's & 10's) and AK twice. That's it. All suited connectors and suited Aces were always in bad position. My best hand of the night was 2 pair. No sets, straights or flushes. Nothing.

The trick to cashing was hanging in there and eventually shoving against limpers and winning those and the blinds.

I know this is a cash game blog, but I need advice on how to play when you're absolutely card dead. I can't just fold/shove all the time.

In my regular live home tourney we have a lot of limpers. What hands are playable against these guys? Eg, would you raise mid-position with 89s? I guarantee I'd still get 1 or 2 callers.

That does sound pretty rough. Are you playing 6-max? I'd definitely raise 89s from MP/LP and in fact I do it from the highjack on FR a lot now particularly when I can see the people to act after me are tight pre-flop.

It's full table tourney. Usually only 2 tables, but occasionally 3. Tables even out until final table of 8.

How good is 89s against 2 other hands out of position. I might need to put that through a simulator. Say 89s v A6o v 33.

Boomeranda, you should consider reading into some tourney articles. But broadly speaking you should be playing in accordance with how big your stack size is and how large your opponents is.
Bigger stack means you can bully the shorter stacks around a bit more, depending on how short you are you will need to play tighter and tighter.
Everyone gets card dead from time to time and its just part of the game. A huge mistake is thinking that you have to create something out of nothing. Like this 89s hand, just think about your range here. If youre raising limpers with 89s, then theoretically you should be raising limpers with 29% of your range in FR context, this is simply unprofitable. Wait for good spots, and if you get blinded down, thats ok, youll just have to push/fold more. With 89s just limp if its cheap, and there are no aggro players behind you. See a cheap flop, and sometimes you'll flop big equity. Wait for good spots, dont get impatient.
