Hello everyone, I'll keep this thread as a journal to not do -EV life things and try to hold myself accountable for as much stuff that's going in in my life as I can. I'm going to play NL50 and NL100 for now on the weekends, since poker is not my number one priority in life and I have a job and other life plans, plus the games are soft on these days. So, I'm not gonna play a lot of volume probably, but just make sure to be in the best games and make the most EV+ decisions. I'll try to discuss more hands with ZKesic, but that's about it.
I'm 24 and from Slovenia, had no idea what to do after high school and worked part-time jobs (also dabbled in poker form time to time and eventually did shots at NL100, while also sitting at NL500 few times due to boredoom and feeling my A game) to get by and have a normal life, then decided to give CS college a try and figured out after a year that it's a huge waste of time and large -EV move (in my case), since I want to go into web development & UI/UX design.
Part of the reason I left college is also that I got a very well paying job offer in Austria and I only have to work 3 or 4 times per week, while earning almost twice as much as a good paying job in Slovenia would net me (not to mention 13th and 14th pay that you get in Austria).
So while I make decent wage working 3-4 times per week and also have weekends off, I still got a lot of time to kill and try to make something happen. My most important goal is to get a job in Austria as a Full Stacked Web Developer or start freelancing by the end of the year and open my own small business with web services & mobile apps. I also have 2 huge projects I want to do on my own by the end of the year, but it will take time since I'm a one man team for now and just want to learn as much as I can. While I know my way around HTML/CSS/JS(Bootstrap), PHP(Laravel), Node.js (Express),.. and built some smaller social media websites that require a bunch of back end logic.. I want to also have to learn more about Java and mobile apps, since most people use phones anyway.
Programming aside, I have to work on my German language as well and be proficient in it.
Last thing, I also like to trade, primarily GOLD and either scalp or swing trade. Sometimes I like to trade indexes, forex, commodities and stocks also, anything where I think a good R:R ratio is and the fundamentals and technical analysis aligns with stars. When it comes to trading GOLD, I most keep an eye on latest geopolitical events/diseases/indexes, etc.. anything that can disrupt peace or make peace. However, from technical standpoint I usually use only Volume Profile and local supports/resistances/watch for breakouts. I also tried trading with market orderflow and volumetric bars, but will have to look more into it, since I didn't really feel comfortable.
Anyway, small steps go long way, so let's try make some side profit and open my own small business this year
. Also meet some new people on here and connect with other traders/programmers
.
My latest setup for GOLD, I don't want to spend 15 minutes explaining it, but there's a strong 1550$ level I believe and with indexes starting to slow down from the recent rally and coronavirus/Iran news threats, I think it's just matter of time before it explodes again up into 1580$. Short term 1568$ level is arguably short term resistance, but I'm currently long in gold for a week or so, until it won't pop, since I feel things are coming together for it to pop. I also don't like sweating over every hour, so I just let the price to run out and hit my TP points, instead of sweating how the candles look every 1 hours or whatever. Sometimes I like to scalp, but other times, I just like to open position and check it at the end of the day or week and keep my mental health.
