Congrats on your progress with the weight loss bet. In my admittedly amateur knowledge of health, cutting calories will eventually stop yielding weight loss results as the human body will grow accustomed to having less fuel, and could lead to your putting all the weight back on when you resume eating a normal amount of calories. Longterm lifestyle changes are the key. Again, I am no health expert, so take what I say with a grain of salt... or maybe not salt in this case, but a grain of something.

As for the weight loss challenge we're in day 12 of the challenge and I weighed in this morning at 109.95 kg, a loss of 6.85 kg. My target loss is 9 kg of course so only 2.15 kg left. I'm hoping to reach the target by day 21 or so and then spend the last week losing a few extra pounds/kilos so that I can ease into the 30 day mark comfortably. I know what you guys mean about putting the weight back on as I have lost weight before but have never been able to maintain it. I really do want a lifestyle change this time around and while I won't always have a diet as extreme as the one I'm on now, I would like to cut out fried foods, liquid calories and eat less carbs and more protein going forward. I need to reach 68 years old to see my son's 21st birthday and I would prefer to stick around for that.

Poker is going OK-ish as two weeks ago I won about $1,200 + rakeback but last week I basically broke dead even and only made a few hundred in rakeback. This week has started off well as I won $850 two nights ago and then another $600 last night. One of my better friends here, the one that I have the weight loss challenge with in fact, is an omaha crusher and hanging out with him on most days and watching him play has helped my game quite a bit.





In the second photo I had raise preflop with AKQQJ double suited and had flopped top set, betting it all the way with a pot bet on the flop and turn. Once the King of clubs hit the river I checked thinking there is no equity in making another bet. He obviously folds a hand like the one he ended up having and everything worse. And if he does have a flush he calls off no matter what. So I figured the best line is to check and if he checks back then so be it. If he bets, it's a bit of a hero call but as the clubs came in runner runner I don't mind calling. Of course in a game like PLO5 he can wake up with a flush there a good number of times but I think he put me on just the set of queens. This is probably why a proper hand construction when coming into a hand preflop is so important as other possibilities develop on further streets. Still I understand why he made the bet on the river as he knows his hand is no good and has no chance at it if he checks back. But if we play the river face up and he knows I have broadway I don't think he makes that bet.

The latest stream on Twitch is up and the next one I'm starting in about an hour or so. I'm doing a few things differently, namely using a service called restream which allows me to stream simultaneously to Twitch, Facebook and YouTube at the same time. It should help me to gain a bigger audience. Another thing is that I'm shifting the focus away from the agency a bit. I was starting to feel like a bit of a whore for my own company so just wanted to get back to playing:

I have a special Twitch coming up tomorrow that I wanted to discuss by telling a story. When I lived in Vegas I went broke during my final year there and I remember the day vividly when I was quite literally down to nothing. I was playing $1-$2 NLH at the Luxor and had about $100 and change in my stack which represented all the money I had left. I then received a call from a friend of mine who had just come into town from Arizona and reminded me that the last time I saw her I had promised to buy her a sushi dinner. So I cashed out, went to go meet her at a local all you can eat place and spent virtually all that I had left on the promised dinner. I then called my friend Dave, and I use the word "friend" loosely as we were really just acquaintances at the time. I asked him if I could borrow $75 and when asked why I admitted that I was broke and needed gas money to drive myself back to Los Angeles. He then told me come by his apartment as he and his wife were barbequing that night and said that I should join them, stay at their place and leave for L.A. in the morning. That one night turned into 2 months as Dave let me stay with his family rent free for 2 months. While we haven't always kept in touch since, this act of generosity is one that I have never forgotten. So when he contacted me a couple of weeks ago and asked for a favor, I was excited at the chance to pay him back at least in part.

Dave has formed a bar poker league in Vegas called Misfits of Poker. They seek to promote the game of poker with people who may not have all that much disposable income coming out of the pandemic through free entry tournaments in bars throughout town. While these games are mostly for prizes, bar tabs and such, participation can lead to bigger events including a $250K guarantee at the end of the season. He asked me to interview his partner on my Twitch stream so they can get the word out a bit more. While my audience is not huge, it is a request that I can happily oblige. So I'll be going live tomorrow morning here in Asia and hope you guys will tune in for a watch.

It probably was PLO6 as I usually play that or 5 card. Playing 4 cards for me is basically like watching paint dry at this point.

The weight loss is going well thanks. I weighed in this morning at 109.2 kg from 116.8 for a loss of 7.6 kg. There are 14 more days to go so I should hit the 9 kg mark comfortably.

That sounds dope need to check out 6 cards. NL is paint drying to me and need four cards and enjoy Big O, but not experienced enough for 5 or 6 and still a huge learning curve for me, so still exciting with 4.

Nice on weight! Are your clothes getting baggy and do you just feel better moving around? I feel every ten pounds lost and just feel more mobile. I have so many new clothes to buy but want to wait till lose 10 - 20 more.

The pants are definitely feeling looser and I can reach that extra notch on the belt these days. And I feel better as well as I have less issue going up the huge flight of stairs at my family's home. I had a girl over the condo the other night and it hasn't hurt in that department either.

I've been getting my a*s handed to me all week in poker, but it doesn't take too much to help me remember how much I love my life. I've been going out again and while I've been keeping the drinking under control, I did gain 0.2 kg from yesterday to today. So I wanted some company but didn't want to go out and drink so I just called one of my regulars from a while back to come over the new condo. We had lost touch during the pandemic but managed to get in contact with her recently as she returned to her old bar. Times have been so bad that girls are either lying through their teeth to get money or giving really good service to their customers. Fortunately this one fits squarely in the latter category. I had a good day poker wise and managed to get some back today and also hit the gym fairly hard for a good workout. Once this bet is over I'm going to take a girl for a holiday somewhere, maybe the beach or Siem Reap. At the end of the day I'm just a simple man with simple pleasures:

The 30 day weight loss prop bet was supposed to conclude this past Monday, but as my friend was stuck on the island due to bad weather we extended it a bit and did the official weigh in this morning. As he was not sure if he had made his goal, I did not want to make a big production out of it so no pictures nor videos. To his surprise he ended up losing 7.5 kg, just making his goal of 7.0 kg. As for myself I lost 11.8 kg well surpassing my number of having to lose 9.0 kg. So the bet ended up in a push which is fine by me as my motivations for wanting to lose weight and get healthier have changed. I'm hoping to keep things up even after the bet, but just not as extreme as I've been doing things up to this point.

Thank you and it's interesting you bring that up. I picked up an eye infection towards the end of the bet that was taking forever to heal. After I started eating a bit more normally once the prop was over it healed up almost instantly.

That's been widely discussed as the tourism board here is closely watching the situation in Phuket as they have created the tourism bubble for the vaccinated there. I cannot be certain but what I can point to is the fact that Nagaworld, the only casino here in Phnom Penh, opened up two days ago on Saturday for vaccinated guests. There were some hoops to jump through to get in and I have to take a test every 7 days to do so, but it is a good indication that things may open up soon. They held a freeroll the first day, giving away a Samsung Galaxy S20 or something like that to the winner. They had a cash game when I left and I assume they've been running them since.
