August Update and Plans Moving Forward

Have been taking some time off from poker as work has gotten increasingly demanding and I've honestly been too mentally drained from the day to then play some cards. Only played 39 hours last month and have just 8 so far in September. Still studying though, that's an everyday thing for me.

Something that will help improve my volume is I will be going to night shift at my job within the next month or so, which will allow me to play the afternoon games before heading to work.

August results:

39 hours, +$1,079

2022 results:

741 hours, +$15,214

Bitcoin HODL update

Bitcoin HODL update

After the dip to 19K or so, I received $454 in bonus money from my poker room for the quarterly rakeback promo and put it in BTC right before this rather surprising bounce - happy to see some bullish price action for the first time in forever

The heater continues

I can't even lie to you folks, my graph has been basically up only since I recovered from a 500 hour downswing in July of 2021 - At some point I'm gonna have to deal with the downswing that comes afterwards, but for now.....weeeeee

A fun hand vs a mixed game pro:

3/5, 1,000 effective. Hero opens CO to 15 with 44, Villain in SB 3bets to 60, folds to Hero, call.

(130) Flop: Jh 4c 5c

V bets 40, Hero calls.

(210) Turn: Jh 4c 5c 2h

V bets 120, Hero raises to 300, V calls

(930) River: Jh 4c 5c 2h 8s

Hero jams ~600, V calls. Hero shows and V mucks

Not exactly virtuoso level of skill when you play a set in position, but it felt good to stack one of the stronger players in my pool

At the beginning of this year I made a new year's resolution to hit either $20,000 in cash game winnings or 1,000 hours. If things continue looking bright, I may hit the monetary goal before the hours one!

Bitcoin HODL Update

Havent bought BTC since this recent move upwards as I am eternally skeptical of any bullish price action given the macro background etc etc. Always good to keep some capital sidelined just in case.

Boy am I glad I didn't FOMO into that rally

I will def be picking up some extra orange coin around this level later today after work - panic selling on bad CPI report is ripe opportunity for boring dollar cost averaging long term investors like myself! I don't know how to trade, so I just don't.

Played the Quarterly Freeroll at my local room last night and busted within the first hour. I've played it five times and have cashed zero times now lol. Variance sucks sometimes.

I totally forgot about this much cooler hand that I got lucky in, but felt it was interesting enough to share:

Combo Draw Multiway

2/5 900 or so effective with main villain

Hero Opens to 15 with KJhh in LJ. BU, SB, BB call.

(60) Flop Qc 9h 3h

Checks to me, I check, BU bets 25, SB calls, BB raises to 80. Hero 3bets to 200. BU tank folds, SB folds, BB snap jams like 800 in there, I call.

Turn smacks me in the face with the 4h and BB shows Q2hh. Good to be lucky!

Total Profit @ Same Casino: $33,408 / 100K GOAL

Will update my HODLings status later when I have bought some BTC. Cheers!

Quick 2 hour session after work that worked out pretty well, finishing up $369 on the night! Crazy crazy heater I've been on.

Key Hand:

1/3 ~350 eff with main villain, who limps in HJ. Hero opens J8hh to 15, SB and HJ call.

(50) Flop: 4h 5h 7c

Checks to HJ who bets 25. Hero calls, SB folds

(100) Turn 4h 5h 7c 6h, HJ bets 35. Hero calls.

(170) River 9d, HJ bets 75. Hero moves all-in, HJ calls and mucks

+$789 in 6 hours of 1/3 - heater continues lol what can I say! I am noticing that my win rates have gone up drastically ever since I started opening to 15 preflop at 1/3 - people aren't 3betting enough nor adjusting their calling range all that much either. It's allowing me to build bigger pots against weaker than normal ranges. Pretty neat!

Added some more BTC to the balance and will likely continue adding onto my stash given the terrible price action lately. Gotta buy the fear IMO

Bitcoin HODLings: 1.3664536 BTC

I am also starting night shift on Sunday, and I'll be having thurs/fri/sat nights off of work, which of course is perfect time for grinding. I saw a drunk guy putting in 150bb preflop with 76s, A8o, you name it. He was giving away money like he couldn't wait to spend it. Night games are different lol

If BTC drops lower would there be a price where you sell and re-enter, or just going to hold?

Just going to hold, BTC's price is inversely correlated to my willingness to buy additional satoshis. I am planning to hold 1.0 for the long term, like 10-20 years+ and probably forever. The "extra" BTC I think I will sell once we cross the fabled 100K milestone and my grandma starts mentioning BTC (classic top signal!)

Selling at these prices seems like madness on a long term time frame.

Quick Poker updates

Been working a lot, have not had much time to play poker. But I have been working in some hours and I am starting to hit a bit of turbulence in my results.

Current plan is to continue playing 1/3 and foregoing 2/5 for a while - the opportunity cost of going on a quick 2-3k downswing at 2/5, which is quite possible, would be huge in terms of my ability or lack thereof to continue buying large amounts of Bitcoin. I have had a couple of 3k-3.5k downswings at 1/3 though, so you never know!

I have noticed that my win rate at 1/3 has jumped significantly ever since I started opening for 15. Not sure if I've said that already, I do smoke a lot of weed so my mind is forgetful

Had a nice rebound at the end to keep the month's profits healthy. Opened A9s on BU and got 3bet by the SB, call, flop 9c9d3h, he barrels Tc turn and Ac river for 400bb pot. Board ran out 3 to a flush and he had KQo with the Qc blocker. Pretty sweet to have the perfect runout to get bluffed into like that one for the good guys

Kind of expecting further lows for Bitcoin in all honesty so I'm cautiously waiting for a good entry. I think the markets will tank a bit further before a strong rally ever happens. Let's see what takes place.

October Update

Been trying my hardest to put in some hours, work is getting crazier by the day (night). Not too much to report other than I did buy some more Bitcoin, buying a little over 0.05 BTC. Saving the rest of my capital for some potential new lows. Capo crypto on twitter nailed the 2022 crash and expects as low as 14K BTC either this year or next. Either way, plenty of time to accumulate and when the next super bull run starts I will be sitting pretty. Gonna need to keep my ironclad patience though!

Biggest 1/3 Win Yet

Had a quick change of schedule in my work that opened up playing time for six days and I def took advantage! Put in a bunch of hours over the last week, which ended up giving me my biggest win at 1/3 since I moved to Vegas.

I had one session in Cali on the Stones Live stream (supposedly first stream session Postle has been suspected of cheating in) that was bigger than this, but that place had a match the stack structure so stacks became like 1,000bb lol. Not very comparable.

Anyways, here were the two big pots, both against the same guy so after it was said and done I pretty much had this man talking to himself and trying to find God. It happens

1st hand

about 750 eff at 1/3, hero opens 66 in MP to 15, CO 3bets to 40. Hero calls.

(~80) Flop: 6c4c3s. Hero donk leads 25, Villain calls.

(~130) Turn: 8h. Hero bets 125, villain calls.

(~380) River: 8s. Hero bets 350, villain tanks and tanks, says they have an overpair, everyone knows he's gonna call anyway, eventually he does and mucks.

The guy ends up rebuying and does pretty well and ends up building his stack to a respectable amount. This is where I feel like the tilt meter went completely off the rails for this guy because the last hand was completely unavoidable on his part. I'm not sure exactly how much he had but it was a huge pot for these stakes. To the hand...

Moral of the Story is Fold Pre

1/3 Player UTG opens to 10, gets caller in CO, Hero 3bets red KK to 40, Main Villain cold calls in SB, folds to CO who also calls and has like 350 behind.

(~130) Flop Ac Ks Td. SB checks, CO leads for 100, Hero raises to 200, SB jams roughly 800 or so, not sure how much it was but I'm never folding. CO says "**** it" and calls it off. I of course call as well.

SB ends up with QJo (????????) and CO has AKo. Luckily board runs out 6 and 6 and I scoop the whole thing!

Played a few sessions after that and did fairly well. Also bought nearly 0.1 BTC as I just couldn't help myself and had to splurge

October Update

Swingy last few sessions but still maintaining good profits on the month. I'll be able to play plenty more hours as the days go on, though I'm likely not able to play much in December due to work. We'll see!

Bluffing Where No Man Has Bluffed Before

1/3 about 600 effective with main villain who is decent 2/5 reg

Villain opens to 15 in HJ, Hero 3bets KQdd to 60 in SB, Villain calls.

(~120) Flop: Jc 7s Th

Hero checks, Villain bets 55. Hero calls.

(~230) Turn: Js

Hero donk leads 75, Villain calls.

(~380) River: Jh

Hero jams, Villain tanks for a couple minutes and calls it off with AThh. Nice hand.

I looked this hand up in the dream machine and it turns out the lead is a low frequency thing, but it is a thing, and I wouldn't have taken the line vs many other people, so I am prob doing OK with taking this line once in a blue moon. Once you lead the turn it is a pure jam on the river.

The good thing about getting caught bluffing is people never give you as much credit ever again, so it made it way easier to get paid off later on in that session and I ended up swinging upwards $1,100 to finish the night +$466.

A couple of interesting updates/happenings

I've started playing 10NL blitz on ACR on my phone in between hands during my live sessions. Doubt much will come of it, but would be cool to withdraw $50 in BTC here and there.

With this dip below $20,000/BTC I'm extremely tempted to throw another $1,000 into it. Probably will.

Holding and never selling, my friend! The best part about grinding live poker for Bitcoin is that my capital didn't come out of my own savings, so it is impossible to shake me out of my position. I know what I'm holding. Didn't have anything of value in FTX anyway, like $70 in SHIB maybe

I appreciate you posting ITT!

November Update

Had a monstrous +$1,210 session at 2/3. Everything going right. Dream setups. The usual. Ended up dropping $219 the next night, but it's hard to complain in all honesty. I've just been running like god this year. Posting 9.24bb/hour at 2/3 is excellent for me. Once Bitcoin makes a serious rally again, which idk, might be in 2030 at this rate lol...only then will I start playing 3/5 again. I want to make sure I am maximizing my buying power with how cheap Bitcoin is right now. If I were to go on a 3-4k downswing at 3/5 and couldn't make any Bitcoin purchases I'd be really bummed.
