TL: DR:
„Starting over“ 6max cash with $100 BR @ 2NL. Currently around break-even after many years of playing various formats. Going to re-learn everything from scratch, starting with opening ranges and postflop lines. Trying to reach 25NL by the end of the year, which should be doable even with the small volume.

The story:
I‘m Pettu, a little over 30 years old currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark studying at an university. I have a girlfriend and a one year old daughter. I‘ve been playing poker on and off recreationally for a few years, probably started in 2007-8. Started FR, then tried SNGs, MTTs, and then 6max where I played up to 25NL. As many, I‘ve been lurking these forums for a while, and finally decided to make a post to motivate me a bit more.
Overall I‘m probably slightly up after rakeback. I final tabled some microstakes donkaments some years ago and ran my BR just above the four figure mark. I withdrew a big part of it and then spewed the rest away as I suffer heavily from FPS (fancy play syndrome) and bad bankroll management. Stopped playing regularly for a couple of years until recently, when I got bored during my 2 hour (1 hour each way) commute to school and installed the Pokerstars mobile app and found out I still had some money (and FPP) left in my account. I‘ve been donking it away, trying 180man SNG‘s, KO MTT‘s, Spin-n-Go‘s and 6max. Decided to stick with 6max as I can play on the train to school and I usually don‘t have the time for longer SNG‘s or MTT‘s, and Spins just annoy me.

Current situation:
Playing 6 max and not being very good at it, I play too loose and spew away too easily. Triple barreling fish with pure air and 4 bet shoving 77 into a nit with 1% 3bet over 2000hands is not the way to go. I have some knowledge of starting ranges and ranges in general, but usually don‘t follow my initial plan and end up spewing.

The plan to improve:
I want to move up the stakes in 6-max instead of getting stuck playing 2 or 5NL. I‘ll be playing 6max regular tables (no Zoom), starting at 2NL with a starting bankroll of $100. I‘ll be focusing on one or two areas where I need to improve, at the moment it‘s opening ranges and postflop lines. When I feel like I‘m confident with it I‘ll move on to the next thing (leak) I need to improve. I‘ve made a list, it‘s not final and in no particular order, and suggestions are welcome. I‘ll also be studying a bit, mainly hand / session review and reading forums. Later on I‘ll try to find a study group of players in my stakes, for discussions. Hopefully this will allow me to improve and have a decent bankroll.

Bankroll management:
I'll be following these bankroll management rules, although I might take 1-2 buyin shot when I‘m getting close.

Things I‘m working on:
Master the opening ranges and the usual postflop lines.

Things I need to work on (in no particular order):
Play more in position.
3betting / calling ranges for each position.
Facing 3bet where I will be OOP.
Aggressiveness.
Check-raising.
Betsizing.
Multiway pots.
Post flop play after calling.
Identify player types and adjust to them.
Facing donkbets.
Blind vs Blind.
Blind vs button.
Squeeze play (both as aggressor and caller?)
Review. Weither it‘s sessions, hands, or situations.
Tilt-management.
Taking notes.
Session lengths.

Things I‘m confident with:

2016 Goals:
I don‘t really got any goals / hand requirements yet. I just want to improve my poker knowledge and play to the best of my ability and beat the limits I‘m currently playing. Getting a roll for 25NL is on my mind though.

January goals:
January will be slow as I have exams and a two week break so I won‘t be playing that much so goals will be modest:
5k hands
A profit.
Put in some study, mainly hand /session reviews.

Current bankroll:
Starting with a $100 roll on Pokerstars. As I‘ll be playing on both mobile and laptop and thus not getting all the hands to PokerTracker, so my balance will be the benchmark of my progress. I‘ll still post some graphs and of course hands. No plan what to do with the starcoins I accumulate. If I bust, I can reload but hopefully it‘ll not come to that.

Good luck everyone at the tables!

P.S.
If you know of any live pub tournaments in Copenhagen, I‘d love to know about them as I‘d like to play a few live tournaments.

Got some sessions in and probably got played about 2-3k hands. I give my self B+ for the last few days, some mistakes were made but still played well.

Hand 1: Interesting hand to learn from
PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

CO: $2.00
Hero (BTN): $2.03
SB: $2.67
BB: $2.52
UTG: $1.96
MP: $1.20

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has K 4
fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.05, fold, BB calls $0.03

Flop: ($0.11, 2 players) K K J
BB bets $0.11, Hero calls $0.11

Turn: ($0.33, 2 players) Q
BB bets $0.32, Hero calls $0.32

River: ($0.97, 2 players) 8
BB bets $0.94, Hero raises to $1.55 and is all-in, BB calls $0.61

Spoiler:
Hero shows K 4 (Three of a Kind, Kings) (Pre 59%, Flop 74%, Turn 82%)
BB shows 5 Q (Flush, King High) (Pre 41%, Flop 26%, Turn 18%)
BB wins $3.93

Pre flop I think its a standard raise, BB defends.
Flop: Donk bet... I should most likely raise here. What should bet sizing be?
Turn: Another donk bet, I should raise here also. Shoving is an option, but his range has a lot of hands that beat us - K5+, AT, T9
River: Don't know why I raised, I was trying to rep a full house or the A-high flush I guess (but then I should have raised either flop or turn), thinking he was chasing the flush and would possibly be able to fold a flush (which in hindsight was very unlikely, fishy player).

Mistakes by me as played:
- I should raise flop and re-evaluate on turn if he calls.
- Fold river, so many hands beat me here. All FD, AT, T9, K8+.

Hand 2: Another hand where I wasn't sure what to do:
PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
MP: $2.00
CO: $2.29
BTN: $2.14
Hero (SB): $2.31
BB: $1.49
UTG: $2.21

Hero posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has 7 8
fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to $0.06, Hero raises to $0.20, fold, BTN calls $0.14

Flop: ($0.42, 2 players) 8 4 6
Hero bets $0.28, BTN calls $0.28

Turn: ($0.98, 2 players) 4
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: ($0.98, 2 players) 9
Hero bets $0.37, BTN calls $0.37

Spoiler:
Hero shows 7 8 (Two Pair, Eights and Fours) (Pre 32%, Flop 37%, Turn 33%)
BTN shows 8 J (Two Pair, Eights and Fours) (Pre 68%, Flop 63%, Turn 67%)
BTN wins $1.66

Just wondering how I should or could play this differently? I felt pretty lost on the river, and the betsizing is not good I think. Feedback welcome.

Hand 3: Well played?
PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hero (BTN): $2.46
SB: $1.58
BB: $0.40
UTG: $0.90
MP: $2.41
CO: $2.00

SB posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02, CO posts DB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.05) Hero has K K
fold, MP raises to $0.08, CO calls $0.06, Hero raises to $0.30, fold, fold, fold, CO calls $0.22

Flop: ($0.71, 2 players) 8 9 J
CO checks, Hero bets $0.44, CO calls $0.44

Turn: ($1.59, 2 players) 2
CO checks, Hero bets $1.72 and is all-in, CO calls $1.26 and is all-in

River: ($4.11, 2 players) 2

Spoiler:
CO shows 7 8 (Two Pair, Eights and Twos) (Pre 18%, Flop 33%, Turn 20%)
Hero shows K K (Two Pair, Kings and Twos) (Pre 82%, Flop 67%, Turn 80%)
Hero wins $3.97

Maybe I should bet bigger on flop, so turn shove is easier, but villain has a smaller stack so he has about 80-85% pot left behind on turn.
Hands that beats us on flop are 88, 99, JJ, J9, 89, J8 T7 and QT, but he would most likely check raise these hands so I put him on a Tx, Jx hand. Once he checks turn I think it's an easy shove. IMO I think I played this hand well.

Currently working on:
Master the opening ranges and the usual postflop lines. - I think my opening ranges are pretty good, but need to work more on postflop on different textured boards.
Calling ranges / 3betting ranges / 3bet calling ranges - Starting to work on this area as it's pretty important as well.

Current BR: $115.13
Profit: +$15.13

Overall I'm happy with my progress, but need to play more to get more experience. Good luck everyone.

Oh wow, what a ****ty sunday. Should have studied for school like I was supposed to do :/

Played pretty well but kept running into the nuts. Villains always seemed to hit their draws when I had a hand, and I lost 8 BI, so nearly all the profit from the this week is gone It's a bit frustrating because I didn't feel like I played badly, I just feel like I was unlucky but it affected me a little bit, at the end of the session I (tilt)shoved 99 on the button after SB 3bet and BB 4bet. BB called with A4s ! and I held. A few hands later I sat out and quit.

My luck this session included:
Had a full house, villain had bigger full house.
Had an A-high flush twice, villain had a full house twice and a straight flush.
Had a straight, villain had the nut straight.
Had a middle set on flop, villain hits a runner, runner set after having top pair.
Three or four times I had two pair, villain had a set.
A few times I had TPTK, villain had something better.
And quite often I had a kicker problem, but didn't loose too much on those hands.

Only hands I really won something was when I shoved those nines, I hit a set once, and won some with KK, TT, and AQo.

I will do a review of this session later, and hopefully figure out what went wrong, I just kept paying villains off when they had the nuts.

Current BR: $102.17
Profit: +$2.17

Hopefully next week will be better.

Progress update
I've probably played around 5k hands for the last few days, and it's been pretty up and down. I still got to work harder on my postflop play, as I often find my self in spots I'm not quite sure what to do and usually end up doing mistakes. On the other hand I feel like I'm getting confident with my preflop ranges, and have an easier time folding semi hands when I'll be playing out of position.
I decided to try Zoom and so far I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I've made some money there so I might play a mix of zoom and regular tables. Actually took a shot at 5NL which went quite well, but lost some at 2NL so my BR hasn't gone up by a lot.

Interesting hands:
I've actually got quite a few hands I could post here, but I'm rather going to post them on the Micro stakes forum after I've reviewed them some more. So I'm going to post my biggest win, not sure I played it well but I sure made some money.

PokerStars - $0.05 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players
BTN: $13.45
Hero (SB): $9.46
BB: $7.56
UTG: $7.88
MP: $6.48
CO: $15.48

Hero posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero has 5 5
UTG raises to $0.20, fold, CO calls $0.20, BTN calls $0.20, Hero calls $0.18, fold

Flop: ($0.85, 4 players) 3 5 4
Hero checks, UTG checks, CO checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($0.85, 4 players) 8
Hero bets $0.43, UTG calls $0.43, fold, BTN raises to $1.33, Hero calls $0.90, UTG calls $0.90

River: ($4.84, 3 players) 5
Hero bets $2.15, UTG calls $2.15, BTN raises to $11.92 and is all-in, Hero calls $5.78 and is all-in, UTG calls $4.20 and is all-in

Spoiler:
BTN shows 8 8 (Full House, Eights full of Fives) (Pre 40%, Flop 9%, Turn 81%)
Hero shows 5 5 (Four of a Kind, Fives) (Pre 19%, Flop 68%, Turn 2%)
UTG mucks K J (Flush, King High) (Pre 41%, Flop 23%, Turn 17%)
Hero wins $26.05

BINGO!

Currently working on:
Master the opening ranges and the usual postflop lines. - Preflop opening ranges are good, but need to work more on postflop lines. Probably need to break this into two things to work on.
Calling ranges / 3betting ranges / 3bet calling ranges - 3betting ranges are getting there, and I pay more attention to my postition when calling.

Current BR: $124.41
Profit: +$24.41
A few more good 2NL sessions and I'll take more shots at 5NL

Well I was watching your first hand
And IMO you should never slowplay NL2 e.g you had nuts on flop and you just waste it and giving your opponent cheap cards.
Well I m not expert and I m still in NL2 but for me It was a main massive leak.
Remember that ,if fish has only pocket AA he`s gonna call you to the end and you should just massive value bet him down!
And why you choose 6max instead fullring?
GL!

If you're talking about the K4s hand where I flop trips, then you're absolutely right about not slowplaying. I even commented after the hand that I should have raised flop and re-evaluate on turn if villain calls, by just calling i'm giving too many hands a cheap way to hit, f.x. flush draws.
This is definitely something I need to work on, as I think I'm sometimes a bit passive, especially on the flop and river.

I chose 6-max part because a friend recommended it and FR seemed much more like a nitfest: wait for QQ+ or call every pair to setmine and then bet-bet-bet. I think there's just much more play in 6max, both pre and post flop and I like it better. I actually like MTTs as well, but there's different dynamic than cashgames so FR MTT offer a lot of play too.

GL as well!

Progress update:
Haven't been playing a lot, and had two really bad sessions where I lost a total of 9 BI. Some of it was bad play, some of it variance (like running kings into aces 3 times). So I took a few days break from playing, and tried to review some hands to learn from my mistakes.
I also noticed that I've lost around 8 BI on my mobile too, so profit (and BB) wise I'm not doing so good, the only reason I'm in the green is because of two good 5NL zoom sessions. I'm going to focus more on studying now, trying to read some articles and post hands on the microstakes forum for feedback.

Interesting hands:
Only one this time, multiway pot and I'm OOP. The preflop call is marginal, and I'm thinking I should bet the flop even though I'm first to act. Overall a pretty poorly played hand, I'm never good there on the river.
PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) ZOOM - Holdem - 6 players

BTN: $1.03
Hero (SB): $2.04
BB: $0.31
UTG: $2.00
MP: $2.05
CO: $2.00

Hero posts SB $0.01, BB posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has A 8

fold, MP raises to $0.06, fold, BTN calls $0.06, Hero calls $0.05, BB calls $0.04

Flop: ($0.24, 4 players) J 6 A
Hero checks, BB checks, MP checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($0.24, 4 players) Q
Hero checks, BB bets $0.06, MP calls $0.06, BTN calls $0.06, Hero calls $0.06

River: ($0.48, 4 players) Q
Hero checks, BB bets $0.19 and is all-in, MP calls $0.19, BTN calls $0.19, Hero calls $0.19

Spoiler:
BB shows 6 Q (Full House, Queens full of Sixes) (Pre 18%, Flop 20%, Turn 75%)
BTN mucks J 5 (Two Pair, Queens and Jacks) (Pre 21%, Flop 18%, Turn 5%)
Hero mucks A 8 (Two Pair, Aces and Queens) (Pre 38%, Flop 59%, Turn 13%)
MP mucks 9 Q (Three of a Kind, Queens) (Pre 23%, Flop 3%, Turn 7%)
BB wins $1.20

Currently working on:
Master the usual postflop lines. - I feel confident about my opening ranges, and some of the postflop lines. But I can always do better, need to focus more on opponent ranges postflop.
Calling ranges / 3betting ranges / 3bet calling ranges - 3bet pots is where I usually get into trouble. I need to work more on 3bet pots.

Current BR: $109.29
Profit: +$9.29

January update:
When I started this I thought I wouldn't get that many hands in and the progress would be slow, but I managed to play an OK volume of hands in January, but the results could have been better. I think I've been playing pretty solid most of the time, but the few bad sessions really get me.
The original plan was to play here and there on the train to school, but I bought a car so I didn't play much on my mobile. I guess I'll not play much on my mobile from here on out, so expect more graphs

Currently working on:
Master the usual postflop lines. - Almost getting there, still making small mistakes.
Calling ranges / 3betting ranges / 3bet calling ranges - Haven't really made a progress here, need to study my hand DB and get some study material for this leak.
Stop playing if I loose 3 BI in a session - I've caught myself playing in a 5 BI hole and I usually just sink deeper. Better to stop and play another day.

January goals:
I set some modest goals for Jan, as I really didn't know how much I would play, and managed to get them all.
[A+] 5k hands - Managed to play 18.6k hands, might be because I switched to Zoom and played a lot more on my laptop instead of mobile.
[B] A profit. - Managed $27.5 profit, but could easily have been a lot more, as I played some a couple of really bad sessions and spewed a few BI away. If I had played my A game I probably would have twice the profit
[A] Put in some study, mainly hand /session reviews. - Did quick session reviews, and took a few days off after some bad plays to review.

February goals:
[ ] 15k hands.
[ ] $50 profit
[ ]Take shots at 5NL.
[ ] Post 3 hands on MicroNL forum.

Graph and profit
Remember I also played on mobile so this graph is not accurate, I actually lost around 4BI ($7.43) there.
Edit: don't know why image doesn't show up, so I put a link too.

http://imgur.com/jJ8QOCT
Actual profit: $27.50

Good luck in february everyone!

Oh lol, so many things went wrong yesterday. I even put the wrong graph in my January report. Here's the right one. Click for graph

just after finishing my January update I play a session.
Within the first 150 hands or so this happends.

KK < AA AIPF
middle set < top set
trips < full house
JJ < QQ
two pair < set

BOOM! down 5 BI's

Decided to try to grind it back, despite my previous experiences... and I manage to run like this:
KK > AA two times (one was 2BI stack)
flush < a higher flush once
two pair < bigger two pair
get raised on the river with one pair hands too many times...

Ended down 9BI for the session... For some reason my loosing sessions are always BAD, 80% of losing sessions have 4BI losses or more. So from now on I'm enforcing the "Loose 2,5 BI, stop playing" rule. Also try to play shorter sessions as I've played upwards to 3 hour session, most are close to 2 hours. Maybe play 1 hour, take a 10-15min break and play another one.

At least I've got my work cut out for me to meet my February profit goals as I'm down 12 BI in february... :/
