So yeah this might sound crazy but im going to make it work.

2 weeks ago my girlfriend of 7 years left me and ive been in a pretty bad place since then, shes never been diagnosed but its very likely she has borderline personality disorder (BPD) anyone who knows what that is will know it can be a lot tougher than a normal break up but ill not get into that too much.

After living with her close to 4 years I'm now back living with my parents aged 25 sharing a room with my younger brother and sleeping on a make shift bed. I'm depressed and barely eating or sleeping.

Now that I've got all the moping out of the way lets talk poker. I've been a winning cash reg for about 2 years who comes and goes at stakes up to 100nl. I'm by no means a great player, I'd say I've got a good intuition and I've gotten fairly good at knowing when to not get egos involved. I'm basically a massive bumhunter who hasnt put in much study.

I'm planning on renting somewhere to live soon so i can get back to playing poker and taking it more serious this time. For the sort of place I'm looking to rent it is around £500/600 per month but im going to need a good bit more than that for bills.

Anyway, ill keep this updated

If anyone ends up reading this feel free to ask questions

I'll be keeping my name and the sites I'm playing on private

What have you been doing for money up until now?

Gl, sounds like a rough spot you're in.

nah bro dont rent on yourself.
go on sparerooms.com and share with someone your own age and likes the same **** that you like. After splitting with your longterm GF you will need people around ya and not only that it will be much cheaper.
Be smart, good luck

Had a few different jobs in the past but I've never actually found anything I've enjoyed. Also dabble in stock and crypto trading, drop shipping and peer to peer leading but I've never made much at it and I think its just taking energy away from poker.

Thanks for the good luck, I'm going to need it haha

Struggling to find somewhere to rent, most places want proof of employment and a reference. I'll keep trying everyday, eventually ill find somewhere. Hopefully soon.

I need my own space though especially to be in the right mindset for poker. I get what you mean about needing to be around people, need to stay active and get out of the house everyday.

If I ever found someone renting a room in my area who grinded online poker and had the same goals it might be a different story and I'd take them up on the offer but thats highly unlikely to happen.

You sound in a very similar situation to myself.

I wanted to drop you a PM but it doesn't look like you have the option enabled. You can turn it on from the edit options, if you want to hear from that is.

Tried the edit options but I'm getting a message saying I don't have permission to do this. Looked into it and I've seen other people having the same problem if there accounts new. Your account needs to be active for a while it seems.

I'd like to hear from you though so if there is anywhere else I can drop you a message let me know.

It’sa lot easier to get a place to rent if you’re moving into a shared space. If you’re trying to get your own space they’ll be tighter on references and proof of employment.

Also hope your parents are kind enough to keep you accommodated through the variance! I.e. they somewhat understand poker.

gl mate

Advice, don't move out and pay rent when you're building a roll if you can help it. £600 taken out a month of the bankroll is a LOT when you're starting out

Prob wanna do some kinda physical exercise too, it should help with your eating/sleeping issues

As far as jobs go few people enjoy their work, its a necessary evil if I can put like that.
I wish you all the best and I hope you do well, but I wouldn't rely sorely on your poker winning to keep you afloat at first, get a part time job it will take a lot of the pressure off you.
GL.

Don't really use social media much to be honest but do you have twitter or instagram? I could create an account on there and drop it on here for you to message me on.

Are you in full time work right now OP?
Got any graphs or previous sample?

I'm trying to break into 50nl myself so always keen to follow similar people.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Paying rent and withdrawing a huge chuck of any winning every month isn't something a want to do but it really does feel like the only option. I'm not recovering and my mental health isn't getting any better living here. If it goes wrong i'll have to get a job but I'm really going to try and make poker work first.

I've got a 2k roll and about 2.5k in savings. I'm going to view a place tomorrow which really isn't suitable long term but if they aloud month to month rent I'll take it for now (that's if I can get it.) It's £550 with a £550 deposit and honestly isn't worth that much. It's a flat in a rough area, about 1 hours walk from my parents house.

No, not working at all.

No graphs either unfortunately, the main sites I play on are untracked I find them to be a lot softer.

Respect to you for being ambitious OP but as an opinion of a random guy on the internet, this is a bad idea.

£550 per month rent
UK council tax I had for a rental around the same price is an additional £120 per month
Bills (water, electricity, internet etc) probs will be another £100
Food depending on how much you eat will probably be another £150 per month

Let’s discount anything such as entertainment(cinema, meals out, drinks with friends), travel (£50-£100 per month depending on how much you travel) and wear and tear costs (shoes, clothes, general household items) and you’re already £900 per month in the red, you have 5 months living costs including your whole roll.

Any downswing you hit will crush you.

Stay with your parents OP and grind. I know it’s frustrating and might not be what you feel like doing but you’re saving yourself so much money by doing so. Grinding full time (assuming you’re a good player) you can get to 1/2 fairly quickly and will be in a much better position to support yourself.

Good luck with whatever you choose

Also has to be said that having a support network of family around you to lean on whilst you're dealing with something like a long-term relationship breakup and depression can definitely help even if you aren't considering the financial burden it can take off your shoulders.

The worst thing that you could do would be to move out, have to pay rent, have a losing month and have to worry about how you're going to eat.

but it's not. you only think it is because you want to do the poker thing. you say that you can get a job if poker doesn't work out. how about getting a job first, grinding during time off, and getting a proper roll while having little expenses with your parents?

huge +1 to z0mg and Mikey as well
