It's too awkward o defend with a call and I have had a very good player tell me on skype that he doesn't think shoving will be profitable against his actual range.

I don't feel that a spot being "too awkward" is a good enough justification for any hand in 2020. Perhaps this spot, vs this player is maybe ok to fold, however, I'd take a guess that if you're folding here, you're playing waaaay too foldy in other situations where it really really isn't allowed.

Only you know whether or not that is true but yeah to survive in poker now you gotta be really harsh and realistic about your own quality of play. glgl

This A6 I am literally absolutely buzzing to get x/r, you know you have top 2 in a 3bp vs a fish?

Just keep piling money in, he can have AK, AQ, random combo draw, 68s, nothing at all.

At the time I was thinking about how badly losing 200bb to some random fish, whether he had 88 or AK that got there would affect my mood. I'd probably have to snap quit the session which would cost a lot of ev.

Completely agree with your last point, hence why I am happy to take any and all criticism. Glgl to you, too!

Don't let your monkey brain justify these sort of plays when they 'work' - losing the fear is so crucial to moving up in poker

Fair comment. I will consider value betting more in spots like this from now on.

BenaBadBeat completely nailed how I'm feeling in his BitB podcast wrt the affect Covid-19 is having on my life. I am putting in more volume because poker is a great distraction from what is happening in the world.

Hey hurtNCYDE, this is Jim's friend, met you at the 7Friday's comedy night.

Just popping in to wish you continued success at the tables, and I recently found Profit/Bonus Accumulator via your blog which has been a nice little extra profit during lockdown so I owe you one! Possibly show you some tasty street food if we're both in Hanoi in the near future (I bailed back to the UK when the schools closed).

Hey mate, great to here from you again! Glad to hear people are still able to make some cash from profit accumulator with the halt in live sport. I stopped using it when I moved to Asia because I was scared to put bets on bookmakers using vpn. So happy you found it via my blog, and I've now got a new boost of inspiration to write again thanks to you.

Here's a link to my latest blog post for those of you interested:

There's plenty of May left to grind, but we're not getting another 13k month, that's for sure. It obviously sucks to stop running like a God but that's just part of the game. I am confident in my ability to put in the effort and push on despite the swings, so that's just what I'm going to do for the remainder of the month. I'm going to put in the work and the results will just be what they're going to be.

obviously not happy with results for May. Volume almost cut in half from April too, but that's not too unsurprising as everything has been open for the whole month here and so I've had to put more time into comedy and my arm has been easily twisted when friends have asked me to join them for a coffee or a swim at the pool. There's usually many contributing factors to bad months in poker which are all somewhat connected. I know I was running below ev this month, which lead to me getting pissed off in game which lead to more unforced errors. I knew I wasn't playing well so I put in less hours and played fewer hands, which made me want to study less. I knew I wasn't studying as much I should've been, which made me less interested in playing too, because I felt less sharp and more exploitable. It all added to a disappointment.

One big change that I've decided to start implementing again is to play without music. It's a bad habit I've picked up over the past two years after playing 2016-2018 in complete silence. I definitely think it makes you less observant so hopefully no listening to music or podcasts will allow me to clean up the mess and rebuild faster.

I now run a weekly comedy show on Wednesday nights at a bar here, and I have 3 or 4 other spots I go to through the week so I need to be managing the rest of my time well if I want to keep putting out more 100k hand months. But other than having less time and less money, the rest of the month has been great, hitting the gym almost everyday as it's just a 300 meter walk from my house, the weather is fantastic here right now and I have a heightened appreciation for almost everything in life since coming out of the lockdown. Hopefully will spend June printing sick one-liners and money.

unlucky on the downtick this month mate. super sick to hear you're running a comedy show once a week! Is the plan to get to a place where you're earning money through comedy or will you see how things develop over time?

gl in June, you got this!
