This is my accountability thread towards becoming the best 6max PLO regular at the stakes I will be playing and the best PLO coach.

Having been an experienced No-Limit Hold'em player in the past, I now seek to explore Omaha for the better action
While deciding whether to focus on 6max or heads-up, I realized that hu games might lack action at higher stakes and I don’t want to wait 5 hours to get action.

For me, the definition of the best regular in poker is the one who consistently earns the most money at the stakes he is playing. It all comes down to $$$$$$$. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

As for being the best coach, my goal is to help my students increase their earnings and develop a better understanding of the game. It's not just about sharing theoretical knowledge. I want to make sure that my students achieve actual results by winning more at the tables. I won't take on any students until I have proven success at stakes PLO500 or greater

Though starting at PLO100 without prior Omaha experience can be risky, I believe life is too short and I am willing to take risks. If it doesn’t work out no limit will always be there live or online

However, I won't rush into higher stakes without a solid understanding of the game. No shot taking unless I have a solid sample of decent winrate. Since I don’t know what a decent winrate is for plo100, I will guess anything above 5 bb/100 over 200k sample while learning the game

I will demonstrate how one can excel in a new game by approaching it with a purposeful mindset, meaning purposeful studying, taking care his health and taking time to socialize. To achieve this, I'll set daily goals to accomplish along the way.

Starting bankroll of $5000,
Goal $200,000 by 26 July 2024

Subbed.

If you are a winner at NL you should have no problem with transition, GL!

It took me a lot more time than i thought but i have a better understand how to play a more polarized game. I saw you can apply the btn against bb principles in other spots. I was working non stop on the boards but i finished them. My plan is breaking down every situation in 4 sub situations A high, Dry, Semi Connected, Heavy Connected for 2 tone and rainbow. I will do 3-5 boards in each situation. First all flops then proceed to turns

Each situation is focussed in these subcategories

1) tight vs tight (gto)
2) tight vs swide
3) wide vs wide (gto)
4) wide vs swide

Example studying SRP ip as PFR, we take the following positions
1) 18% vs 15%
2) 18% vs 60%
3) 50% vs 30%
4) 50% vs 60%

Understanding how to ranges is of a bigger importance than learning fixed positions generated from a solver. The swide represent fish while the gto (even far from true ranges) will be good enough to play against. In reality if i take 5 boards, i have to study

5 boards * 2 colors * 4 subcategories * 4 range interactions = 160 situations

On top of that i have to study preflop which i find a lot more difficult than flop interactions. I might reduce to 3 boards or even 2 and add more the more advance i become. On top of that, we have paired and monotones. Lets try to break down the game

1) SRP ip PFR
2) SRP oop PFR
3) SRP ip DEFENDER
4) SRP oop DEFENDER
5) 3bet ip PFR
6) 3bet oop PFR
7) 3bet ip DEFENDER
8) 3bet oop DEFENDER
9) 4bet ip PFR
10) 4bet oop PFR
11) 4bet ip DEFENDER
12) 4bet oop DEFENDER
13) MW oop PFR
14) MW ip PFR
15) MW oop DEFENDER
16) MW ip DEFENDER
17) BvB SB srp
18) BvB BB srp
19) BVB SB 3bet
20) BVB BB 3bet

These should be studied for 50,100,150,200 eff stacks for 2tone,rainbow,paired,mono for Ax, dry, connected, semi connected

stack sizes 4
range interactions 4
postflop situations 20
boards texture 4
connectivity categories 4

depending how many boards i am going to study we have
boards 2 --> total situations 10240
boards 3--> total situations 15360
boards 4--> total situations 20480
boards 5--> total situations 25600

In times like these when i actually get the numbers down, it seems an impossible task and wondering if leaving nl is the right choice. I am a social human and i have a life outside poker but this is my choice and i have to live with it. I think the sweet spot is propably 2-3 boards. Most likely 3 on A high, 2 on Dry, 2 on Connected, 2 on Heavy Connected. On top of that i have to study preflop which i find difficult to say at least and put in the grinding hours

What i am hoping for?

1) competition to be weak especially at plo100-200 and be a winner for at least 2-3bb in order to survive. I have saved some living expenses but i cant accept the ''i will be losing mentality''
2) become fairly strong after study 4 main categories (srp pfr, srp defender, 3bet pfr, 3bet defender)
3) i really hope some categories are easier to study, example 3bet pots have a lot of range betting and not as draining mentally as srps where we are a lot more polarized

I will use plo trainer, plo range explorer and monkersolver to run my own sims when we have wide vs wide range interaction. I will use the same sizes as plo trainer for simplicity. When i become more advanced i will test the sizes since i believe the will be more potting when we have a super tight range against a super wide than the default 75% but

a) I dont have time to do everything now
b) flop sizing is not that important unless you pick something ******ed like 20% when you should bet big
c) I am not trying to reach perfection in a new game but understand the basics and move up where they respect my raises ( ha ha)

I will grind mainly in apps for the next few months in order to give myself a bigger opportunity to survive. I might mix main sites here and there but you know...apps

(not) Fun hand from today

Hero AQJJ $ts rfi
Villain super aggro 3bet

I raise first in utg villain 3bets ip. He did vpip ip every hand over small sample and he never flatted. I am not familiar with the frequencies of aggro players in PLO but i think if gto button is 9% they would be at 15-20% even if they play earlier positions

I decided to 4bet which is not solver approved against 9% flop, he calls

Flop is KT9 2tone with clubs flopping straight with wrap, my hand has no clubs and i just shove. To my suprise

We dont shove with this hand which i am not sure why this is happening. My best assumption is since we play a polarized range we shove the top 80% equity of our range and checking 20% because in equilab we have 70% equity to 80% depending his range. If he has a tight range like 3% we have 80% equity. Against 13% range which is more realistic assuming he is 5 betting AAxx and calling the rest (i assume no FE against the villain) we have 70% Of course this spot need monkersolver but i will not do any study for day to day spots just look the outputs from the solver

Strategy development is such a time consuming task, i dont see any reason to do spot training for now

Villain had KQJ6 $ss to the Jack with clubs!!!! which made me feel tilted because this mother.****er not only 3bet a hand which isnt a 3bet even btn against co, but he flopped the same nuts like me with the redraw. I always had anger issues but you can get away with them when you are 8bb/100 in nl. I have to actively work on my anger issues from now on which is another challenge to take on. I have never lacked the grinding ethic or study ethic and i relish the challenge but i have never took seriously the mental game. I mean if you put the hours off and on the tables and you are a decent winner what is even the point, not the case from now on

1) Find a way to structure the output of btn vs bb 2tone study in a comprehensive way
2) Find a way to combat tilt

A little update on the blog. Volume is lacking because half of the spots are completely unknown. Not knowing what to do in a spot or break down a thought process to reach a decision is a feeling going back to 10 years and it is annoying. When these spots ramp up i reach to a frustration point which is good to spot. I think PLO is the best game i ever played. Tons of action on the tables, unfortunately not enough tables. I have trouble going up to 6-7 tables without mixing platforms

Past few days i finished flop studying playing ip pfr aggressor in 3b pot and srp. Next to study is oop pfr aggressor vs ip flat caller. It takes around 4-5 days for each spot studying flop+reactions vs raises. Not ideal but not too bad

Shout out to PLOMM support, Luuk and Delaney, very helpful guys and they seem genuine good. I will be more active in 2+2 plo forums. I am interested to read insights from other players. If i got taught one big thing in poker and studying with solver is decisions are never right or wrong, small things can shift the decisions of the solver massively and we should be open listening other insights

Today studying preflop, somehow i find it more difficult to memorize preflop than learning postflop, at least the flop decisions. Until next time
