Hi,

I had previously created a pb&c thread, but since I achieved most of my short and mid term goals I figured a new one was in order.

I have played Omaha for roughly 1.5 years.

Currently in an Omaha stable playing 1/2 PLO online.

Gym, school, poker is my life right now

I want to grind up to high stakes PLO and play against some of the toughest competition.

After I grind a roll with the stable I want to transition primarily to live PLO and maybe also travel for good PLO games.

Primarily things I want to work on are eating more healthy, and not losing confidence in my plays when I am losing.

graph of January so far!

Hey man,

Nice to see another PLO blog . What sites you playing ? If you don’t mind sharing.

How long you been with the stable.? How’s the first year and a half been. Apologies if this has all been mentioned in a previous post/blog.

GL with the grind. Results will turn around hopefully sooner rather than later bro although PLO gods can be brutal haha .

Hi, thanks for the subs!

The stable name is Poker Ninjas, however their online presence is very small.

I am currently only playing cash on pokerbros under stake, occasionally if there is a good PLO tournament I will play that outside of stake.

I've been with the stable for 2 months now.

Pre stable I was a break even PLO100 player on stars zoom.

The results will turn around eventually

Played a winning session which is nice to turn things around!

Right now I'm focusing on getting stronger in the gym, eating healthy and playing well, if I focused on my poker results I think I would go crazy

Going to pick up some smoothie ingredients tomorrow which will help me for after gym time.

Also I am going to stop playing heads up to start tables and focus on playing good 6 max games to maximize my profits. I can study while waiting for good games to be available.

Had a couple good sessions back to back, so grateful I am running better.

Wanted to post this hand that I butchered, but luck boxed my way out of :P. In real time I just didn't think he would cbet for that sizing with a flush, I felt like aces with ace of hearts or kings with king of hearts and didn't think I'd get called that often LOL

Unfortunately, the run good did not continue. Ended up in makeup for this month. Very disappointed with my play, when I am running well I play tough but when I am running badly especially versus maniacs I start to play extremely badly. Going to take tomorrow off and start strong on Tuesday.

    January Graph

    February Goals
    -20bb/100adjev

-Continue with gym every other day (have started to see results even though I have only been going for roughly a month!)

-Stop tilting to maniacs, especially when I make a tough call down on the turn and get it in with ~80% and get sucked out on.

    -Fold more rivers

-Study more (30 minute drills before each session perhaps)

I'm angry with myself for having only 7.31 all-in adj bb/100 when some stronger players in the stable have much higher win rates. But I know that I can change some things about my game and start to get creative to exploit players more and increase my win rate. In order to achieve 20bb/100 I will have to be extremely sharp and focused during gameplay so I can exploit my opponents to the maximum.

    Mid February Update

So far February has been not great. I've been playing quite poorly, making plays I know are bad after the fact but for some reason didn't think through correctly at the time. Specifically 4betting maniacs that 3bet 30%+ too wide.

Grateful to be running hot, but imo I don't deserve it. I've been playing like a fish.

I have been keeping consistent with the gym, not messing up my schedule even for a single day.

My mental is strong as far as tilt, but I'm not giving my A game performance. If I had to rate my play this month so far it would be a D.

I'm considering battling some live home game / casino games occasionally, and maybe some online tournaments, so expect pictures / updates of that

Have had lower volume this month, which is a consequence of conservative game selection (often only playing 2 tables at once, while looking for a good 3rd table), and having school stuff as well.

Goals for the rest of February:

Hitting 20bb/100 ev, I think it's still attainable given that I have low volume as of now.

Playing better games, moving down to 0.5/1 if there's a good game running.

Having a solid PF game and Cbetting strategy

    Continue with the gym habit

    February Finish

Finished February running like a fkn GOD

Coaches helped me fix a lot of my play, had some massive leaks that were crippling my win rate. Results and EV are different due to 5c and double board hands not being picked up properly.

Kept up with the gym which is nice.

Excited for March. Feeling like making poker my job and making serious money off of it is a real possibility. Although I need to seriously increase my volume and take it very seriously.

I decided I would start posting my biggest BB hands from each month as well! Unfortunately a couple pots vs some whales were straddle so elite HUD doesn't pick up.

No pressure to disclose, even private message if prefer and would be happy to share my own users.

For your tracking problem for 5 card I would recommend drive hud. I switched from PT4 to drive2 last week and it is really great, also has an inbuilt hand converter for the apps (still need to pay) but makes it all a lot smoother.

GL anyways bus, will follow along!

        Mid March update:

Getting killed in cash, won’t post graph until end of month but running somewhere between 10 and 20 BI below EV. EV is also negative, so really getting crushed.

Shot taking some tournament and live cash off of stake, played a high rake home game (1/3 NLH/PLO, 5% $15 cap NLH 10% $30 cap PLO 600max) which in retrospect was completely ******ed. Cashed 12/1200 in the PLO bounty $109 main event yesterday which was nice, going to focus on large field tournaments and casino PLO (1/2 uncapped $7 cap).

Just stacking my roll rn, I would ideally like to make a trip out to Vegas in June and battle some of the small stakes tournaments in the WSOP.

        Hey,

first of all I will say nice progress.

Second of all I got two questions:

        1) What do you think are the biggest leaks of weaker regs, that you play against?

        2) What aspects of your game do you think improved the most since you joined the stable?

        Thank you and glgl.

        Hi, Thanks!

I think the biggest leak I see playing the weaker regs is they over fold basically every post flop situation. For example on KK/QQ/JJ/TTx when they 3bet, many (incorrectly) will blindly cbet range which makes it easy to raise small with everything and make them fold.

I would say my cbetting strategy has improved the most since joining the stable.

Oh yeah and I didn’t add it in the other post but last week was awful as far as health goes.

skipped like 4 days of gym, and yesterday I ate half a rhubarb pie, liquorice, a bunch of pink lemonade for dinner in some sugar feeding frenzy.

On the plus side I felt so gross in the morning i ended my brief gym hiatus.

        Mid march update

March has been pretty brutal so far

Coach had me move down to .5/1 this month, so running about 25bi below EV.

Played a little bit of live down 3.5k there.

Have been talking to the stables performance coach, things feel ok from my end but I'm really not built to deal with losing in this way :/

Still been at it with the gym so that's something nice in my control.

Have made some changes to my game in the last couple days as well so that's nice.

Don't feel like I'm playing bad to lose like this but it's an insane amount to lose bb/100 wise -31bb/100.

I guess another positive is I'm crushing school getting good grades and enjoying it.

Graph also doesn't include about 2k worth of tournaments I played on stake so down ig nearly 8k this month.

        March completed

I’m out rn, will post graph when I get home.

        Cliffs:

Down ~50 BI on stake, actually down more bc of failed tournaments (prolly in the realm of 8-9k)

        Ran abt 25bi below ev

        Played bad

        Mental bad

Had meetings with mental coach, we made lots of progress.

Moved down to .5/1 while I played bad

Started playing well again after taking two weeks off to study and fix mental

Although this month was disappointing and avoidable, I remain optimistic for my results of April!

Between live off stake and on stake online I’m down close to 15k this month which is my biggest losing month ever by far.

But big losses hold the potential of big wins! So I am ready to run hot and bring my A game in April

        -play my A game more

-not tilt and chase losses during session

-study and review my hand histories (study at least a little every day, review 1-2 times per week)

        -keep up with gym

        -finish strong at school
