Philippines
When i was in my early 20's i used to love taking few months vacation in Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand, i probably spend a year out there in total bumming around. I'd figured out at that point i wanted to live in asia, but was growing weary of Thailand and wanted to go somewhere new.
Once i became a poker pro, i took a year out from uni to travel round the world playing poker to figure out where i wanted to stay. I had 5 months planned to travel around the philippines. After a month i met my gf in manila and have stayed here ever since.
Every Country has pros and cons, theses are just my opinions / experiences and not indicative of how the Philippines is as a whole, so if Filipinos read these please do not be offended. I don't really wanna derail the thread and discuss this further.
Pros
Weather
English Speaking
Religion - my family are Christians, so moving to a Catholic country makes life easier.
Cheap for some things - EG. Food, Drinks, Beer, Activities, Petrol, Taxes etc etc
Friendly, Happy People
Amazing Beach Holidays - There are so many places to visit here, that are really quick, cheap and easy to visit.
Cheap Costs / Labour / Rent - Cheap Costs means that the money i make can go a lot further so i can try out stuff like owning a bar etc. without having to borrow money etc.
Family - I have a large family here now, and that's great.
Life Stuff - I'm really crap at stuff like cooking, cleaning, paying bills etc. so i'm fortunate enough that i've got people to sort out all that stuff so i can put more hours into working.
Cons
Pollution
Traffic
Corruption - Leads to multiple things not being as good as they could, such as dodgy police, monopolies on markets (more expensive products etc).
Food - Philippine food just not really to my taste, and generally its low quality (hence cheap).
Expensive For Other Things - Electricity, Tech Stuff etc
Behind in Technology - EG. its taken me 5 years of looking to buy 2560×1600 res monitors.
No Online Shopping
Poverty - Life in the Philippines is tough for the vast majority of Filipinos, mostly due to rising cost of living and just not enough money to go around. This, and all the problems that come with it rubs over into your life eventually.
No Free Public Heath Care
People may try to scam you - Being white just paints a target on your head for these types.
Week 2 Update
Poker
My Poker Volumes been **** this week, probably only got 8 hours in, in short turbo sessions, so lower abi and roi. I've got people visiting this week also, so i'm really gonna have to grind hard last week of the month to make 1500 games.

Golf Betting
Swongy Week...
Started Off Great with Scott Langley shooting -7 to take the first round lead at the Sony Open on the PGA Tour (left).
+$1,382.72
Then the Volvo Golf Champions (European Tour) started to go a bit **** with one of my biggest reds (-$1500) Scott Jamieson taking a 5 shot lead after 3 rounds. My EV at this point was like -$900, but i ****ed up and overbet $3k at 1.5 to take Jamieson to him to even (where i should have hedge the loss to -$900 not to $0). Which ended up leaving a big red on Louis Oosthuizen (and some 50:1 plus players) giving me about a 20% chance of losing $3.5k+ and 80% chance of breaking even.
This left me going into the final round with an exposure i wasn't really comfortable with, but i let it slide anway. After Scott Jamieson's tee shot on the 6th...
and watching Louis showing supreme confidence, playing great with the crowd behind him, tilted i snapped logged off, took a shower and went to bed rather the put myself through the misery of watching it.
-$3,604.69
Fortuantly i woke up to find PGA Tour Rookie Russel Henley birdie'd the last 5 holes to hold off Tim Clark (medium red) to take down the Sony Open.
+$2,247.56
Overall
Some solid results in the smaller markets gave me a profitable week.
+$1613.91
I've now reprogrammed my in between round staking to make sure that i dont allow myself to go into the final round with large exposures and hedge positions off current market EV, not $0.
