Not going broke... Not going broke...

Hi,

So I'm one of the hundreds here already who has decided that i'ts time to start a challange / goal on the 2+2 forum.

Who am I?

I'm a 29y old guy from Belgium who has been playing / quitting poker for about 4 years now.
Yep that's right... I've gone broke (losing my deposit) several times resulting in quiting poker completely just to start all over again a couple of months later.

What do I want to achieve?

Not going broke anymore and if possible win some money playing a game I really like (that's why I keep coming back after quitting the game when going broke).

Why did I start this thread?

I thought this might be a good idea to keep my focus.
Very often I would tilt and lose my BR by playing stakes that are just too high for me (playing 5/10 with a 500€ roll).
So for those who like to see a guy go broke... you might get lucky LOL

What will I be playing?

Since I lost my BR a few days ago I collected all my VIP / stellar rewards for a total of 100€ wich will be my starting roll.

I'll be playing 4 tables 6max 2NL ZOOM.
already played 2 days (5h45 hours in total) +- 6K hands 10$ profit

I will move up when I have won 20 BI for the next level
so in order to move up from 2NL to 5NL I need to win 100$.
When I lose that 100 I will drop down to 2NL again.

So if you want to see if this Belgian donk can make it this time, just follow this thread.

ps: sorry for any mistakes I've made in this post regarding grammar and spelling.

Today was not a good day...
played 2 hours and lost 7 BI on 2NL zoom???

I'm going to watch a movie now cause I'm too tilted and don't wanna give my BR away.

I'll be back again with more updates tomorrow.

OK so today I put in just another small session +/- 70minutes and it went quit well.
Had to stop because my 4 month old daughter needed me...

up just over 8.5 BI

current situation:

hands played: 9560
Profit / Loss: + 13.25$
(I will post a graph every 20K hands)

I did adjust my gameplay a little.
I was used to play NL 6max but those ZOOM tables are just so different.

the biggest change due to my new way of playing is that I have a red line that is going down like it's on his way straight to hell.
On the other hand I don't think that non showdown winnings are this important on these stakes.

If people like to share their experiences on 2NL 6max ZOOM I'm happy to hear your thoughts

Confront yourself with the problems that lead to tilt and deal with it

@dadude77: thx for the support. same to you btw!

@JasonOnStars:
I just can't seem to get used to the fact that I can lose pots when I'm a big favorite and somehow I only remember the pots I've lost in that situation but not the pots I win when I'm the one that sucks out.
I hope ZOOM will help me overcome that problem since I will be making much more volume then I did in the past playing the same amount of hours.

anyway thx for the support I will keep this post up to date after every session (should be daily) with a graph every 20K hands.

Maybe I should adjust my goal... Not going broke is a bit too vague.
I will think it over and set myself a reacheble goal so I stay motivated.

OK so I just finished another session

Minutes played: 222
Hands played: 3709
Profit / loss: -10.04$

It seemed like they all were getting there at the river against me but hey thats poker.
I'm glad that at least I can put in the volume.

I've been thinking about realistic goals for me but I have some doubts on what is best.

a) play 100K hands on this level and decide then if I move up or not
this should give a clear view if I beat the stakes or not but might slow me down in moving up the stakes

b) set up a BR management system and try to move up stakes as fast as possible
I risk moving up too fast due to a goodrun in stead of skills untill I hit a massive downswing which will surely result in a massive TILT

Ok so I played another couple of sessions on 2NL.... damn so frustrating.
4 tabling maybe a bit too much will start playing 2 tables max cause I can't seem to beat 2NL and I feel sorry for myself

Honestly 100k hands of 2nl is too many. If you build up enough to move to 5nl then move up because 5nl and 2nl don't play that differently and staying at 2nl would just be a waste of time (and money you could be winning at 5nl) imo. If you don't win enough to move up to 5nl then you're also wasting your time (again just imo, feel free to ignore me...) because it's ridiculously soft. If you can't beat 2nl over that big of a sample size then you really need to re-evaluate and I'm sure your time would be much better served by reading some COTWs in micro stakes NL and posting some HHs where you felt lost/lost big pots.

GL with the challenge

Definitely a good idea to cut down the number of tables if you're struggling. Give yourself more time to concentrate on the decisions. Are you using HEM/PT?
