There's an old Gamblers saying, "don't bet the rent money." Just get a job.

Playing 2/5 on a 2k roll, no way that could end badly

Good luck though, hope you make it!

Online it's right, the chances to go badly are big, but live I think it's ok if op has some edge and eventualy knows to go at lower limits if loses 1k

Thanks bud, I think you're good wishes helped bc I'm up $906 today! So it's a bit after 4 am, just got finished from another 11.5 hour session. The thing you should know about commerce: the rake is higher than most places, there are a bunch of angle shooters, but there are about 90 tables running at all times so great game selection, delicious food that's well priced, pretty(ish) waitresses pushing around candy/cigarette carts, and a car service that picks you up and drives you back (granted you tip the floor man and the driver as well.) commerce is pretty f'in great IMO.

So as usual, I'm not gonna mention hands that I played superbly and worked out, bc that's not interesting. Here's the hand of the day:

Backstory, it's the 200 game, this particular session I've been extremely card and flop dead, I cap up to 300$ once I get below the 100$ mark. Win small pot, my stack is at $375. villain1 in seat 1 (500) is projecting a very gambly image, and called off large with weak holdings pre with a whale, but I knew better and I peg him as a solid. Villain2 (360) in seat 2 is a nitty McNit, with purple beats by dre headphones. V1 in mp, makes it 25, v2 calls, I have AQ suited diamonds. I usually 3 bet here, but my spider senses tell me I should probably fold bc I'm beat. I call.
Flop comes Kc9d2d. V1 makes it 100, v2 ships for 335 all in. Obviously I should fold, I'm most likely up against a set. But if I call, I can bink a diamond and triple up. I deliberate for a whole 12 seconds, and say call. V1 deliberates for 61 seconds, shows his cards, AcKd. Proceeds to call... Everyone opens: v2 shows a set of nines, and is quite angry actually, saying that this is not what he wanted to see.

Turn is 7 of spades.
I imagine my 400 dollars flushing down the toilet.

River is a ten. Of diamonds.

GG

Other than this hand, I felt like I picked my spots pretty well. I'm happy with my win, but I can't say the field was as nutty as I would want a Friday night game to be. I actually felt as if weekday games had more spews donkeys and whales in them. But whatevs.

This. Vegas has better games at the lower stakes and also has a WAY cheaper cost of living. Good luck nonetheless and will be following. Props for the pooing on bosses car haha.

Sorry for the no update in a while. I've been playing about 12 hour days averaging a couple hundred a day, not bad, more than breaking even for lodging and food. I'm running out of clean clothes and I'm missing the luxury of having my own apartment and my 40 inch flat screen, and my ps4... I miss home town, family and friends. But those are the luxuries you gotta give up if you want to make it, whether it's for poker or coming to hollywood to become an actor. I'm putting everything on the line. Losing my job gave me this opportunity to move and try something different.

Ya AA hand is a snap shove pre.. I don't know how anyone unless they are fish could see it differently..

Echoing the sentiment that Vegas is probably a better option for the games/comps, but tbh Cali will b more chilled and less degenerate. So if it's working out for u at the commerce and u like playing there, then stick with it and crush!!

This is an exciting read.. We are rooting for you!!

I agree Cali is a better place to live in general (it's where i live atm) but I just think for strictly poker reasons Vegas is a much better financial option at least to start.

Kingkrab if you ever get the chance while you're in LA and you like Mexican food go to
5300 W Olympic Blvd El Chato Taco Truck. Unreal tacos! Again best of luck to you!

Yesterday this scenario came up, I'm in mp with QQ I bet 15. (Stack is 350). Button calls, sb (200) 3 bets to 50. No reads. Is it ok to 4 bet shove here?

That would be very lazy with no reads. Your best play here without reads is to just call and re-evaluate after the flop.

Agree - shove may be a bit too aggressive

Definite ship!!.. you're ahead of a randoms implied range and he has 3 bet a quarter of his stack.. almost always he will call off.. i wouldn't flat call that 3 bet unless u were both much deeper.. hows the session going??

OP, I don't want to bring you down, because I respect what you're trying to do, but I think you need at least a part time job to help pay the bills.

The rake combined with the costs of being a live pro are too high for your current bankroll and stakes level. If you don't run really good you have a very high probability of busting out.

If you get a part time job you could offset a lot of your costs/run bad. Preferably a job where you can study poker some of the time.

Good luck, I hope you make it.

I completely agree. It was 3 am, def not playing my A game. I ended up shoving, he sigh calls then asks "do you have aces?" , instantly know he has kings, flop comes king high, GG :/

Lol.. thats being completely results oriented against a random player u have no reads on.. it could have just as easily been a 5 7 10 rainbow flop if u had flatted his 3 bet pre and u both get it in.. the fact that it was a king high flop is def not the point here.. anyways gl mate.. i hope u ship some big hands tonight!!

What? You're ahead of a range of someone that you haven't assigned a range to? Implied range is just stupid in this scenario...
