Op I respect the gamble and the heart. Gl

That said, do you realize how ****ing expensive Southern California is? Especially LA. Gonna be tough to get by grinding 1/2 with no part time job man. Making 40k in Seattle is probably equal to making like 65k at least in la with cost of living factored in. This is coming from someone who has lived in the northwest last 6yrs and just relocated to San Diego for work.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement guys! So I just finished up a 12.5 hour session. I played a good mix of the games to get a feel of the play. So here are my results in exact numbers: +95 (in the 40 buy in game), +52 (100 buy in game), -40 (40 buy in game), +183 (200 buy in game), +141 (200 buy in game), -200 (100 buy in game), and -64 (200) buy in game. So after the loss on the $100 dollar stake, I think I'm up about 70 bucks. not quite so impressive, but i'll take the win for the first day. It seems my biggest leak is in the 100 buy in game, and my biggest wins are coming from the 200 buy in 2/5 blinds. tomorrow i will solely play the 200 game and see where that takes me.

so a spot i was in during my last session of the day, blinds are 2/5 and my stack size is 165 and wake up with AA on the BB. utg+2(110) makes it 15, mp1(270) calls, mp2(560) calls, CO calls, back to me. I briefly think about it and make it $55, thinking i can get one or two callers and safely ship 110 on most flops. original raiser just calls, and everyone else also proceeds to call. flop comes 743 diamond diamond heart. I ship anyways. utg+2 folds, mp1 snaps, mp2 raises all in over the top "for my protection" as he says. BS, i put him on a set or a straight already. mp1 ends up calling off the rest of his stack. mp1 had 99 for overpair, mp2 had 56 of hearts for the flopped nuts which holds up. I told my friend about this hand, and he said my play was a greedy play, and says that I should have just open shoved 165 preflop into the 60 dollar pot. He's not even joking, and I actually believe it to be the superior play. Did I make a big bet sizing mistake preflop? Anyways, it's time to rest up for another long session tomorrow. g'night

I'm thinking about taking a shot at the 3/5 $500 buy in game.

Brag: I have 1/3 stake on my friend in the 350$ buy in LAPC event today, he's still in it and is sitting at a table next to Jeff Madsen
Dude how are you gunna build up a roll if you have $75 of expenses everyday coming out of poker? And all with a $2k roll to start. This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen man. Get a job and get your bankroll nice and fat first, plus save up some $ on the side.

Trust me man

How on earth can you know that after like 3 hours at the limit tops?

I can't explain to you in words just how megabad some people's play were. It's easy to see who the regs are, and the ratio of rec "for fun" players is waay too high for a blind structure of this level. Amazing. I plan on making $500 dollars tomorrow

ps you're friend is terrible at poker based on his advice to you

also dont stake someone in a tournament with your tiny roll

even a good player needs to show up the right side of variance. you are better off putting the 100 on black

Shoving is right though, because there is $60 dead money in the pot and you're not exactly rolled for the game.

I would take the $60 happily in that spot.

he played the hand fine, but shoving is ok bc he needs the money

Yes, I agree with that.

Winning $60 is a lot more important to him than risking it for higher payout.

No matter how good of a player your friend is you shouldn't be backing him for anything in any type of MTT, not with your small roll.

Would have just shoved with AA, you pick up 60 in dead money, and with your short roll every pot you drag helps.

75 expenses per day x 30 = 2250 per month

Optimistically if you beat low limits for $30 an hour and do 40 hr/ weeks that puts you at 1200 profit per week.

4800 - 2250 = 2550 per month.

Gl I just had to do some math to make sure it's possible.

I'm in for 2.5 buy ins today. (500), my flopped trip jacks slow played into a turned set/full house. I still have 3 more hours of prime grind time, I'll run better and play better too.

Just finished up a 11.5 hr session at 4 in the a.m. What I noticed today: a lot of regs try to angle shoot like crazy. I got into a spot where it was interpreted as forward motion and I had to put 50 dollars that was in my hand (unreleased) into the pot when I had ace high nothing and no draw on a turn. I'm used to playing at casinos where the line on the table means something. :/ it was from some cowboy looking Asian man with long hair.

I feel like I played my A game today, I knew where I was at most of the time, didn't try to suck out. The hand that theoretically made me the most money in one single hand:

Blinds 2/5 I have KK in BB(250). Utg+2 opens for 35, mp1 and mp2 call, button calls, I open ship. Original raiser insta calls (has me covered) short stack mp1 (70) calls as well. Board, AJT 7 A. Utg+2 shows TT for the boat, mp1 mucks, I muck.

Lol, I'll take that situation where tens insta call my shove all day every day if I have to though.

I played pretty solid, moved away from the angling Asian cowboy, and shipped pocket aces into this one lady's flush draw on flop, and held up. So I can't complain that I'm running super bad or anything. I cashed up a little over $400 for the day.

I'm super ready for the weekend game, I don't know what to expect really. Wake up at 2:30 pm, get off the 62 bus stop one stop early, pick up a chicken bake from Costco, then back to the grind. Btw, stuck with the 2/5 game. I think I can beat it.
