I skimmed a bit so i'm not sure if you're focusing on cash or mtt's mostly. But if you want to grind cash for a living, starting out a few buyins down can't feel heartwrenching.

ya it's normal to not be excited that happens, but i mean when you think about it you are going to have 3 buyin downswings in alot of your sessions, i mean even in the majority of winning sessions you probably drop a few anyways. The reason that you feel disheartened moreso if it happens in the beginning is silly because if you were up several buyins before i bet it would sting less, so it's completely dependent on when you start/stop sessions if you think about it

That's a pretty good point.

I guess I've always had this mental leak where if I had a winning day, say +300, I'd be like: "yup booked a $300 win... good day"

In reality I didn't actually win $300.. in theory I only won what my actual winrate is * how many hands I played that day.

Likewise when I lose $300, I didn't actually lose $300. In theory I made money by playing.

It's hard for me to get onboard with that, however, since I'm extremely optimistic and always feel like I could be winning more than I do. A dynamic income and it's unpredictability are what makes poker so much more fun than just earning a steady income.

Then again, it can also be what makes poker miserable at times. Just have to embrace it and take the good with the bad.

Great thread, for some reason I find myself rooting for you more so than some other PG&C guys.

Look forward to an update of a 5 fig score soon

Much appreciated man!

I'm in for $500 total today... definitely a good chance to make something happen. Just gonna play my best!

I've dropped the 44's and 55's from my schedules (unless I satty in), except on Sundays.

Want to get my BR back up a bit before regging those again since just the 3 daily ones that I played were making up half my buyins.

-$350 today

The Milly on WPN was pretty much a bust for me. First of all they had connection problems so I couldnt get on my table, and by the time I got back I was blinded down to about 12-15bbs. Then I got it in 99 vs KK BU vs BB and that was it. So that sucked but w/e.

Deepest run I had was 30th or something in the $55 15k for $120. TT vs QQ at the end. Standard stuff.

Ran pretty terrible in all-ins today, nothing much else to say. Felt I played well.

Gonna hit the gym and get back at 'em tomorrow!

BTW I went and toured that apartment complex I want to live in (the one in the OP). Hard to believe but it looks even better in person. It's legitimately hotel living just like I want.

I may have been too optimistic in thinking that I can move in there by the beginning of Feb, but I'm putting in the hours every day, so there's not much to do but just see how it works out

+$1,000 today

Made 4 FT's... 2nd for $540, 5th for $325, 8th for $125, and 8th for $120

The one I got 2nd in I lost A9 vs A7 for the win.. bit tough to swallow, but oh well.

Also made a couple hundred in cash games.

A leak that I have identified is that I wasn't making loose enough calls against guys 3bet shoving me when getting the right price. I was going with my gut instead of the math, but not today, and it worked out well. I think there has to be a delicate balance between playing by "feel" and playing by the math.

I also feel like I'm at the point where I'm untiltable. Obviously this is easy to say on a day where I won $1,000, but I've legit just been brushing off the coolers and bad beats like it's nothing.

It really helped me to promise myself that I wouldn't complain (about anything) for a whole week. Once I accomplished that, I just want to keep the streak going forever. It feels good. Complaining accomplishes nothing anyways.

My goal is to be around 180 at 10-12%... how bout you?
I'm 185 (on a good day),i would say about 10-12% although i haven't legitimately checked lately.

I'm really shooting to hit 195 by April 1st without compromising my bf% too much. Although to be honest with you if i had to slightly sacrifice the "cut" look in order to attain more mass and get all my numbers up i think i'm leaning in that direction.

You make no mention of live poker ... how close are you to a card room ? Aren't you even a little bit tempted to play in a brick and mortar MTT ?

Love reading your thread, you are working hard young man !

^^

I'm pretty close to a couple poker rooms in Phoenix area.. bout 20 mins from a few.

I do really enjoy playing live poker (only played in Vegas).

Right now the main reasons why I don't is because it's limited volume, and I don't have the BR to spend 100+ on entries.

Thank you!

Nice man I feel ya.. I lean more towards the cut side mainly because I feel better mentally when eating less food.. not sure why

Could have built a house with all my bricks today

-$360, 0 cashes

Was just cursed, but I did salvage the day slightly with some winnings at the cash tables.

I feel a lot more comfortable having taken out the 44's and 55's until I pad my BR a bit more. Today is about as bad as it can get with my current schedule, so this isn't too bad at all.

-$360 again today.. basically an exact replica of yesterday

0 cashes, won a little bit in cash games

I'm definitely cursed with all-in runouts right now. If someone has an open ender they are hitting it like 90% of the time these past couple days.

Motivation was high today, I was feeling pumped, but it just didn't work out.

Kind of funny how optimistic I am when I wake up every morning, but I guess you need that if you're going to play MTT's. Every day could be THE day.

That's exciting.

Do you stream any of your sessions? I would definitely be interested to watch you play on twitch? Also, you mentioned that you play cash games? What stakes do you play and how many tables usually? Great post btw, been following since day 1

Thanks man

I don't stream.. it's something I've thought about, but it wouldn't be very interesting to watch me play 10-12 tables as I wouldn't really be able to interact with the viewers and still play a solid game.

It may be something I do in the future.

At my peak time I'm playing 12-14 tables, it usually averages at about 10.

I used to be fully a 6max player, but now I play 100nl FR on the side of my cash games. Sometimes 200nl FR, but it's tough to find good games during the day.

Thank ya thank ya!

Just got back from gym... feeling great today.. LETS GOOOOO

On a more somber note, one of my friends from back home posted on his FB that his mom has been suffering from thyroid cancer and they are pulling the plug on Wednesday

Really puts things in perspective and makes it hard to complain about something as little as poker when I can't even imagine that degree of pain. Some of us don't even realize how lucky we are.

-$370 today

Was getting a bit frustrated toward the end of the sesh. Just could not win an all-in when I was ahead.

Finished 20/1200 in the $10 10k for $45, but that's all we got today. Broke even in cash as well.

Oh well! Tomorrow is a fresh start.. prob gonna hang out with the pops for a bit and then start some later MTT's.

Weekend rungood one time baby!

Made some MOOOLLLAHHHHH today boys!

I also got 15th/1280 in the WPN 25k.. final hand I had QQ in BB, CO open shoved 17bbs, I call with my 11bbs. He has KQ, flops a K, GG. Would have been top 5 if we had won that with 4.5k up top.

Oh well.. can't be too upset with a 3.3k cash

Still got a couple more going.. will do a final update after

Alright, finished +$2,950 on the day

Had a couple final 18 runs along with our 3rd place, and I just cashed the $22 10k for $70 (JJ < QT AIPF)

Could have been an even bigger day with just a tiny bit more rungood juice, but who are we to complain?

Gonna look to keep the wins going tomorrow!

Good to see things are running smoothly!

I would prioritize reducing CC running balance.. my limited understanding is that IF you keep up with payments.. the money is moderately expensive.. BUT IF you miss a payment it will become horribly expensive. Therefore no real upside keeping a running balance IF you have means to reduce it.

Read the terms and conditions so you know the situation.. If you have extra roll.. reduce balance with intention to buy food etc running cost with CC.

Here the interest rate is 6% (= moderately expensive) so.. running balance of 1000 would be extra cost of 5 / month >> 6000 would be 30/ month.. (if I got it right)

Put in another way.. If you put part of your roll towards your standing balance.. you save up (= earn) one extra mtt ticket / month. (+ have reserve to use CC balance if push comes to shove)

Really glad to hear you are keeping up with daily exercise.. I bet it dose help you in your game. (trying to activate myself here)

GL & keep posting!
