I decided it would be better if I share results and graphs weekly, so I will share the results of the first week on sunday/monday. Anyway I'm crushing 10NL at the moment. I will be playing 10NL untill I'm up an X-amount of buy-ins and then I'll move up to 25NL which is expected around the end of the weekend. Currently my confidence is very high. But still if I have a losing session of 3/4 buy-ins I really need to take a long break to 'get over it'.

Unfortunately the learning approach is not going so well. I'm still kinda result oriented and impatient. For example writing postgame reviews or playing 2 regtables max at the time is hard for me. Hopefully I can improve this.

I figured out how to share hands so I might as well show 2 lost hands from yesterday:

    PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

    BTN: $20.85 (208.5 bb)

    UTG: $10.12 (101.2 bb)
    MP: $10.65 (106.5 bb)
    CO: $22.08 (220.8 bb)

Hero posts SB $0.05, BB posts $0.10

    Flop: ($0.60, 2 players) A K 8
Hero bets $0.19, BB raises to $0.67, Hero calls $0.48

    Turn: ($1.94, 2 players) 2
Hero checks, BB bets $1.45, Hero calls $1.45

    River: ($4.84, 2 players) 5
Hero checks, BB bets $6.65 and is all-in, Hero calls $6.65

    Results: $18.14 pot ($0.82 rake)
    Final Board: A K 8 2 5

BB shows 8 K: (Two Pair, Kings and Eights)
    (Pre 30%, Flop 78%, Turn 86%)

Hero shows 9 K: (One Pair, Kings)
    (Pre 70%, Flop 22%, Turn 14%)

    BB wins $17.32

      PokerStars - $0.10 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

      BTN: $23.95 (239.5 bb)
      SB: $16.17 (161.7 bb)
      Hero (BB): $11.13 (111.3 bb)
      UTG: $22.67 (226.7 bb)
      MP: $10.00 (100 bb)
      CO: $11.38 (113.8 bb)

SB posts $0.05, Hero posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.15) Hero has A J
UTG raises to $0.40, 4 folds, Hero calls $0.30

      Flop: ($0.85, 2 players) 9 Q 5
Hero checks, UTG bets $0.40, Hero calls $0.40

      Turn: ($1.65, 2 players) J
Hero checks, UTG bets $1.58, Hero calls $1.58

      River: ($4.81, 2 players) 6
Hero checks, UTG bets $4.59, Hero folds

      Results: $4.81 pot ($0.22 rake)
      Final Board: 9 Q 5 J 6

      UTG wins $4.59

      1. If I didn't have any reads on the villain this would be a clear fold on the flop. But the villain was a whale and was splashing around stacks everywhere. I said to myself I'll fold the river but then he (overbet) jammed making it look really polar (wp to him I guess lol) and this is a common play for whales to have air in my experience, I was really trying to think it through what he could have because when the flushdraw completed with the play he made except for some Ax of spades it didn't make any sense (which with his 3bet% he would have 3betted any suited ace I guess) but didn't have much timebank and then I tought f it and I called.
      2. Villain is a classis LAG, ofcourse he has all the strong hands in his utg range but I really thought this was a call. Again didn't have time to think it through so I folded. I later stacked him bluffcatching an underpair.

Those hands maybe aren't that interesting but those were the only one I tagged from yesterday lol.
Any thought/opinions are appreciated Now that I figured out how to share hands I will be posting hands more frequently.

This is the graph of week 1 of month 2 in this challenge:

Obviously very dissapointed in the results. around +$100 with rakeback included this week. around +1 buy-in on the tables, while I was +25 buy-ins at one point. I Played and ran terrible last 2/3 days. It's again all a confidence matter. Hopefully I'm able to get my confidence together and start crushing again.

Confidence is completely back. I think it's really important for me to take atleast one weekly day off from poker. This will probably friday/saturday. I don't know why but I always have a lot on my mind during those days and I play way worse than other days (this could be completely bs but that's how I'm experiencing it lol). It occured 3 weeks in a row that I absolutely crush during the middle of the week and that I f*ck things up on friday/saturday. While on friday/saturday there is just way more fish.

I'm gonna add two goals for this month:

Run 3.7 miles (6km) in 25 minutes. I'm currently running it in 28 minutes.
Do 80 push-ups in a row. I'm currently able to do 65/70 max.

Regarding to the results on the pokertables; I'll post graphs at the end of the week.

              Last week I didn't play much. Won like $80 (+ $80 rakeback = $160). Kinda inbetween 10 and 25NL right now (I'm playing both).

I'm planning on doing one last sick x amount of hands challenge in 10NL to finally move on to 25NL. I'm beating 10NL reg/zoom combined for around 5bb/100h (Because of the tilt issues this is so low) and I want to prove to myself that I can beat it around 10bb/100hands. I also lost my handhistories and I want a decent sample to review with my coach. I will probably play like 75K hands in this challenge and then move up.

In this journey with the starting $18 the bankroll is around $600 (+/-) but I have most of it withdrawn to my bankaccount to protect myself from my tilt issues.

This thread is kinda dying so it would be fun to start posting more frequently with this final 10NL challenge.

Anyway thanks for reading and good day Peace.

I noticed a couple posts where you mention that you take a day off but you still study. I personally have found that it is better to take a complete day off from poker instead of still studying. Take a day for yourself and not think about strategy or studies to reset mentally and relax doing other things that you enjoy.

You absolutely right, maybe schedule 1 day off like every 1/2 weeks.

first 6.5k hands of the 50/75/100k (haven'tdecided yet) 10NL hands challenge. As you can see it's going absolutely awful. I'm playing awfull. I'm tilting. Yesterday I literally thought about quiting. It's not about the money but it's being dissapointed in myself for not being able to focus correctly and not being able to control my actions at a certain point. If I was a highstakes player and I did things like this it would really hurt not only my wallet but also my mind.

Than again "my last shot at poker" is ofcourse a dramatic statement but it's also me telling myself I want to give it a 100% and this can happen a 1000 times but I wont quit. So I just need to learn from my mistakes.

So I came up with a few rules to tackle the issues:

-Change my setup to another room in my house (I'm not sitting perfectly in front of my screen).
-Maximum session length of 40 minutes playing zoom, take atleast 20 minutes break from the tables afterwards.
-Maximum session length of 80 minutes playing regtables (even when there is a whale on the table, just quit), take atleast 20 minutes break from the tables afterwards.
-Schedule al your sessions. So let's say I have 4 hours to play. Before playing I should have everything scheduled.
-Post game review after every session. RN I'm doing it once after all my sessions are finished. Would be good to do in the 20 minutes break.
-Pre game goals. Before playing on a day make goals for the day. (I'm already doing this but still mentionable)
-Maximum of 3.5 buy-ins down. Than quit for an hour. I kinda stopped doing this and when this occurs I'm having trouble accepting the loss but I need to start doing this.
-Have my daily run in the morning and change my sleeping schedule. I'm currently kinda living at night/evening and do my daily run in the evening but it would be better to do it in the morning and start the day fresh.

I will post again tomorrow to tell you guys how today went.

              Peace

              Still going!

Slightly winning since the last post but it's still not going amazing pokerwise. The difference between me playing my A game and me playing autopilot is just huge. I still have faith in the process. I still think it will be only few months before I'm playing 50NL. The only thing that is concerning me is that skillwise I feel like I'm not improving as much as I want to. the following weeks I will be playing regtables and record most of my gameplay to review. I'll post graphs when I've managed to put some volume in. I'm BTW still following all the 'rules" in the previous post.

Since the beginning of this challenge I'm trying to have a structured lifestyle. I think it's best to keep pushing things so I came up with some new goals outside the pokertable.

              -Run between 3-5 miles (5KM-8KM) everyday running atleast 8.1 mp/h (13km/h)
              -250-400 push-ups a day
-20 minute core workout a day
-Work 1 hour a day on coding/start a new coding course.

I will quit the push-ups when the gyms are back open.

Hopefully next time I've got some graphs/hands to show. Have a nice day!

Just found this article on the mental game.

It is written by Jared Tendler who is the author of the mental game of poker. It might help you to improve your game

Sorry for the lack of updates, but the road to pro is still going

Life is going decent. I'm not gonna say my depression is completely gone but the hard work is starting to pay off. I'm actually doing and feeling allright lately. I'm still being very disciplined with all the goals I set for my self. I completely quit drinking alcohol for now. Only problem with that is I feel a bit awkward when all my friends are drunk around me but yeahh, I would be a massive hypocrit if I would make a problem about that haha.

With regards to the pokertables, I'm really improving lately (skillwise). Other than that. There is not so much to say. I'm playing around break-even ish for 3 weeks now what really sucks. I'm recieving around $100 rakeback a week (approximately) but I want to be a winning player again (pre-rakeback). I'm also a bit lazy lately when it comes to volume. But to tackle those things I came up with a sick challenge. I think I make a seperate thread for the challenge tomorrow and post the end results here aswell.

Btw I really would like this thread going so I will post every sunday from now. Would be cool if I reach a X-level/stake and it's all documented with all the struggles and **** haha.

              Thanks for reading, bye!

I’ve already taken shots at 25NL but in order to make the move permanently I want to beat 10NL over a decent sample. I’ve already shown myself I can beat 10NL reg tables. But I want to beat the zoom pool for atleast 6.5evbb/100h. So I decided to come up with a challenge to push myself. One week, 35K hands. Starting Wednesday 00:00AM and ending on next Wednesday 00:00 AM. I will keep you guys posted every 4/5k hands to share updates, hands, graphs etc. If I make it I will move to 25NL.

              GLGL

I typed this yesterday, so the first day of the challenge is done. Here are the results:

As you can see it's going decent, I'm up 8.5 buy-ins. I'm playing solid poker I think. Only at the beginning of one session I randomly forgot how to play poker I guess haha. I was playing clueless and I even knew what was going on so after donating 2.5 buy-ins I quit the session. Other than that I enjoy playing zoom and it's going well.

Here is what happened to the challenge above:

Because I grinded reg tables for like a month I changed my sleeping schedule. Lately my sleeping got worse and worse to a point where Thursday night (the first day of the challenge) I was still awake at like 5 AM so at that moment I decided to set my alarm clock the next morning at 8 AM. I also decided to Take 2/3 days completely off of poker (I was to tired to play anyway) and go back to the 10 PM-6 AM sleeping schedule. So when I returned to playing on sunday the challenge was Basically impossible.

I'm still gonna grind like 30-50k on 10z and then I move up to 25z permanently. This move should've happened way earlier (although it's only 2 months since I started the journey) but I've been messing around lately (that's also a reason to fix the sleeping schedule). Skillwise, I improved massively. Here are the results of the last 2/3 days:

              (I play 2NL as a warm up )
Now I'm used to my new sleeping schedule hopefully I can grind some volume!

I can't show a complete overview of the whole journey because I have to start a new databass every 40k hands because of my shitty laptop. I think at like 50/100nl I will invest a part of my bankroll in some decent hardware. I think that's also around the time I will start to run sims and try to study GTO for a bit. Currently together with my coach, I'm purely working on a solid fundemental strategy. I see this everytime but I will try to post some graphs and hands here and there . Atleast twice a week. GL

Yesterday was an extremely frustrating day. I really planned to put in some volume in. First 2 sessions ot the day went allright. Than after I took a small break the Pokerstars servers were restarting. Obviously my fault because it was announced (I was too lazy to check out the timezone of the server reset time) but still frustrating. Like 3 hours later I came back and lost in a 10 minutes session like 3 buy-ins. It didn't tilt me or bothered me at all (I fee like I'm really improving on this part). Ran into some coolers like top set vs nutstraight, A2s; flop two pair in 3BP and after my fast play (I need to admit, it was a very questionable play from my side ) Villain hits his flush on the river. I still decided to quit the session. Allthough I was absolutely fine with losing a few buy-ins I still wanted to be disciplined with my stop loss.

Than after half an hour I return, now really ready to grind some volume. But then all over sudden my Laptop starts lagging like ****. It was unplayble lag. And the painfull thing was, the pool was full of whales at this time (me to begin with :P). So every 5 minute session I had to restart my Laptop what was extremely frustrating. I still managed to win like 3 buy-ins in 4 x 5 minute sessions but the tilt was real.

The golden rule against tilt is to focus on things you can controll. Well this is definetely something I controll . So I decided to clear my laptop and delete everything that is not necessary. I also reinstalled HM3 (HM3 is the main cause of the lag, obviously in combination with my shitty laptop). Hopefully today it goes better lagwise. And otherwise I will try my hardest to buy some new hardware asap.

Didn't experience any lag today what was nice :=). My focus was not really on point because I slept terrible last night. Because of this I played a lot of short sessions and that's why I didn't manage to put in some serious volume today. But anyway here are the results of today:

Here are the results of this week:

I haven't decided if I start 25z on monday or if I grind 30k hands of 10z first. It seems a bit pointless to not move up. But because of my confidence issues (allthough I'm really happy I'm growing massively skillwise) I think it would be good to have some sample to fall back on when I start running/playing bad in 25z. Otherwise my mind will say I just ran good in the 9k hands I played this week.

I also really want to know what my "bankroll' is after the beginning deposit of $20. Because I've withdrawn several times (life expenses + tilt protection) and because I have to make a new databass every 30/40k hands I have no idea what my profit is since the start of the journey. I estimate it around $800, I might check out my bankstatements. From now on I set the goal to not withdraw untill I reach 50z.

I will try to keep posting frequently. Thanks for reading and peace

Today I did not play well. I was not focussed at all. It's unfortunate because the pool was full of whales.

Anyway here are the results of today:

It's also the end of the week so here are my weekly results:

I decided to stay one more week in the 10z pool just to have some sample to fall back on and then I will move to 25z.

Have a nice weekend and thank you for reading

Results of the past two days:

I'm still not playing completely focused and I'm punting here and there. But atleast I managed to put some volume in.

11K hands to go and then I'll finally start playing 25z.

Do you think labeling your effort as "last" helps? To me it sounds like unnecessary pressure. The reason I think this is because you are defining a failure criteria only. If you dont define success as well you are going to feel the pain of getting closer to failure on the bad days but wont feel uplifted on the days you move up (you just feel the decrease of pain). This is a recipe for burnout in many things in life.

Results of the last Thursday, Friday and today:

Today I played terrible. I had a lot on my mind and I felt pretty bad. I knew I was not ready to play but I kinda forced myself to play to complete a rb challenge.

Tomorrow I will complete the 30k hand challenge, I will post the complete overview of the challenge ones the challenge is done. Hopefully tomorrow I feel better and less stressed etc. so I can finally start playing 25z. If by tomorrow, I still feel like today I will continue to play 10z (or take the day off) untill I feel better.

I split up from my coach because I really want to do this on my own again. I learned a lot from him, the ending was a bit ugly tho....

My poker really improved lately and I feel really confident about my game. Hopefully I can continue this Thank you for reading
