My journey of playing MTT poker for a living. My journey of playing MTT poker for a living.

Yooooo.

Another interesting week behind me. This one was really diffrent then the one before.
I started the week normal, played in the morning, did sports in the afternoon and studied. Both successful, played well, workout sessions were great, and studying was as i wanted it to be.

On thursday my schedule took a turn, because i went to play a live tourney in Gorica. Because i dont need a car in LJ, whenever i do need it i rent it from Avant2Go, those electric car shareings.
I rented the Golf this time (i think) and drove to Gorica. I had a coffee on the way, listened to good music and enjoyed the ride. Parked at Perla, charged the car and jumped right in to the tourney,
because i was almost a little late.

The tourney itself was one of the best live experiances so far. Why? Because i played really really good poker, also gad good luck with my cards, so i played alot of pots, and im really happy with how i played most of them. For the first time I also had a really good feeling of the diffrence between playing online and live poker, and adapted to that really well and i really enjoyed.
I also had a really fun table, Mitja was on there and we talked alot, a couple of other Slovenian legends and alot of Italians ofcourse. Overall really really happy. A little unfortunate that didnt make it to day2 in the end, but either way, a great warmup before Rozvadov next week, where i will be playing live 4 days in a row. I am very excited about that, and i hope everything goes as planned and that i will be on the way on the 18th.

This night i slept in Perla, and the next day after breakfast, had coffee and a cockta, and made my way back to Ljubljana.

On Friday night i went to a rave that i was excited about for a long time, two of my favorite DJ's came to LJ (Hardbeats event in MediaCenter next to Cvetličarna) so it was kind off the main event of my week. It was very good, i didnt stay that long, i think i was home at around 6am, did alot of dancing, drank a bit so i was a little tipsy, just enough to spend the whole next day on the couch with netflix.

Saturday was a rest day again, watched netflix the whole day, also ate a pizza on the couch because i really craved it! Classic with mushrooms and Tatarska sauce auuuuuu. And then for dinner i went to Azur I think i had spagheti with seafood or something like that. It wasnt the best, the pizza was much better.
That was kind of it for my 'cheat' meals for this week, the other days i cooked good food at home, every day something diffrent, but mostly chicken and steaks, rice, alot of vegetables, and now because its getting warmer, i make juice with orange and lemons every morrning so i stay fresh the whole day :P

On sunday me and Anja went for a looooong walk here around the city and on the castle, and then went down for a coffe at my new favorite coffe spot in LJ :P, and then back home to get ready for 'clicking'. This sunday i decided to play in the afternoon/night, mainly because of the sunday millions, and also a couple of other great tourneys, like always on sundays.
Results wise nothing special, had a big run on GG, but finished a bit too soon for a big result. I think i was in around 500€ profit on Sunday, thats about it, nothing special, im happy it was a green sunday hehe. Sunday milly is gonna have to wait for Bojlee to take it one day :P

Sports wise i am not happy this week, i didnt do as much as i wanted to, at the end of the week i got lazy. I wont be to hard on myself because of this, there was other things on my schedule, but this week i want to do exactly as much sports as i will write here. Unless something comes along that i cant do anything about.
I want to do 3 gym workouts this week+ play tennis once+ run 8km one day. Everything more then that is ok, but i want to do atleast that this week.

I want to play poker 5times this week, today (tuesday) i will study, go through the marked spots and watch a couple videos from last week.

Thats about it for this week. I had fun, a little more party and free time then the weeks before, but thats also good. Thats why i live and work, so that its fun!
But the upcooming week i want to work a bit more and be more productive in general. I like to be hard-working. And this week i feel that i want to put maxmax into poker and studying and the workouts, thats whats gonna make me the happiest this week.

I want to thank Miro again, for enabling me to sleep in Perla. I had fun, the event was great, the cards were nice :P, and i had good nights sleep and the breakfast was amazing! Because of that it was easier to do everything i had to on Friday and i didnt have to drive home at night. Thank you again <3

I also love to see how to poker community is growing in Slovenia, i know im still new to this world of poker, but since i started, i can see that things are moving in a very positive direction and i respect everyone that put alot of their time, energy and money into making this community grow! AMAZING!

I wish everyone a great day, wherever you are and whatever you are doing, i wish you alot of success and joy!

Goals this week:

Poker/study:
-5x poker
-1x day for studying
-Every day go over a couple of important spots (focus on database analasis), 30-45min a day.

Other goals:
-3x fitness
-1x 8km (walk+run, zone 2-3 cardio)
-1x Tennis

Optionally if i have time:
-Sauna

Quee passsooo

Well, here, for the first time this year, I'm writing more than 1 week late. I will try not to make this a habit, I really like to write down my thoughts, successes/failures on Mondays (or the same day every week), because it really helps me
that I am completely "on track" with the things that are happening in my fast, dynamic and full schedule.
Every day I also write a diary (https://urbestself.co/), so that I make sure that I am "on top of things", that I don't live too much in the past or the future, but as much as possible in this moment.

I don't have much to say about 2 weeks ago. The week went like most of the others before it, I played almost every day, I learned a lot, mostly I worked on my mistakes from the database I got
from their mentors.
In addition to poker and studying, I enjoyed the dynamic weather At one point, Anja and I played tennis outside for the first time this year, on a day when it was 25 degrees. It was a really awesome day, and we played great tennis.

After that, the cold and snow came, in those days I enjoyed being behind the screen basically the whole day After the session and study, I did stretching at home, I even skipped two days of training (the weather was an excuse this time,
because I didnt wanna go outside at all), but after the session and food, I went back to the computer to do things for poker, and after that I played warzone until it was time to go to bed

On Thursday 18.4. (i.e. 1 week ago), Anja and I left for the Czech Republic by car in the afternoon around 2 p.m., and before that I was working on things on the computer since morning. From studying, to managing finances, plans for the future, etc... Most
time it was studying, that I came to Rozvadov fresh, with a warmed up brain and ready for 4 days of poker from morning to evening.

The road to the Czech Republic was ok, but it wasn't exactly smooth because I was in charge for navigation and few times I got too fired up about music, so we went a bit wrong way, so the path was around 30 minutes longer cuz of me

When we got to the hotel, Gregor from the PokerPro team was waiting for us at the reception, he gave us information on how to get to the room with the best wifi and showed me the whole area. Thank you Gregor, for all the help in the Czech Republic and also
on home soil! Maybe some people think it's weird that I thank for "every little thing", but personally, such things help a lot, I've never been scammed for any of these "travel tricks", I always get important information, and since I have a fast and busy schedule, and since I am easily forgetful myself, such information saves me a lot of time --- money, which I really appreciate.
After that, Anja and I basically just ate and went to sleepsky.

On Friday, I started the day with breakfast, and then I started Day 1 of the main event as early as 11:00. Played until about 7:30pm when I busted , then quickly registered another Day1 turbo flight and played that until about midnight, untill i busted unfortunately and that was it from poker on Friday. I wandered around casino a bit talked to poker friends, went for a dinner I don't remember exactly when, because I was in the casino from morning to night and I'm totally losing track of time. Then it was time to sleep, at around 02:30.

On Saturday, I started playing a little later, missed 1 level of the tourney and registered Day1 normal flight at 11:45 ish. That day I played this flight until the end, which I think was around 02:00, made day2 with 35 blinds ( Started with 50k chips, made 345k stack of chips which was avg for day2 ). After that flight, I took a shower, had something to eat, and then joined the cash game table and played there until 5:15. This was definitely my favorite day of poker ever, a full day of tournament and then finishing the day with a few hours of cg. In addition, I met a Slovenian cg player at the cashgame table, who was truly a legend, he says he plays cg fairly regularly, and he's a maestro at it! Besides Blaž and Luka at the table, I opened a couple of interesting topics with him, and besides playing we had a good time and talking about interesting things. This day/evening was one of my favorites! A REALLY AWESOME EXPERIENCE, and I still can't believe that this is part of my job and how much I enjoy it!
However I always experience these moments really well and remember them, I'm a little sorry that I didn't capture these "friendly" moments in the lens of my phone, so that I could then publish them here.
I'll try, and I PROMISE MYSELF, that in the future I will take more pictures of such moments so that I can post them, and after reading/watching them back, I relive a little these moments that spike my dopamine to high levels

After a long sleep from Saturday to Sunday, I started Sunday around 15:00, with breakfast and a short (7 minute lol ) walk, went to breakfast/lunch, and started day2 at 17:00 (alpa 18:00, not sure if). I was eliminated after about 70 minutes of play by making a mistake. I learned a lot from this situation, and next time I will be more prepared and not make these mistakes. The main reason for the error was that that I simply did not take enough time for my decision and consequently made the wrong move.
After I got out of the main event, I went out for a few minutes to get some fresh air, and then I registered for a side event with a registration of €550. I played great in this tournament, even better than before in the main event. At the table I also met one Macedonian player who was really a legend, I had fun with him, played a couple of interesting spots with him and about 3 hours later, I was eliminated. Nothing special, with a good hand I stumbled into an even better one, and it was time for nina nana
Or rather, before nina nana, I went with Anja for a beer (she for 3 tequilas...), and then went to bed.

On Monday I also woke up very late, rolled around in bed, then went to breakfast/lunch. After lunch, I went back to bed to rest, and then at 17:00 I started the last side event
€150 turbo. I put two bullets into this tournament, and ended up with no success. Busted just after late registration and that was it from poker for me. I was still interested a bit in the cashgame that day, but since it was Monday, and most of the players went home, I skipped cg and enjoyed some free time with Anja, we walked around the casino, had two or three drinks with the other Slovenian companions, talked for a bit and that was it.
We went to bed a little earlier that day, so the next day I woke up quite rested at around 10.45.

Gregor and I went to breakfast together on Tuesday and after breakfast we did an interview for the PokerPro website. This interview will be up once this week, and I will share a link below where you can read it.
https://en.pokerpro.cc/

The main takeaways from this trip for me are:

1. I really enjoy live poker, so I will try to go to live events every 3 months (of course, as long as the bankroll allows).
2. It's really important to me that when I change my environment, I don't change my habits, but just adapt them. (I need to get used to the change in schedule and environment a little more, to still do sports and keep up other habits)
3. I am endlessly grateful for all the help I get from friends/colleagues in the poker world.
4. Don't listen to the good music when you're navigating, because you're not capable of handling two things at once in the car (ROFL)

As I already thanked Gergor and the PokerPro team above, I would also like to thank the SPT team and the organizators. To each one separately, first of all, for everything that you have done for the whole even, I think that every Slovenian who was there was
very oriented because of you, everyone got all the information and it really showed how good things are going when "SLOVENIANS STEP TOGETHER". It's really awesome to see how the Slovenian poker community is growing
like all of you individuals from the SPT team, you are one of the main parts of making things go the way they do. I believe most people don't see it, but I know it myself
and I understand how much time and effort you put into it and THANK YOU FOR THAT! I'm grateful to be a part of it!

This lady painted this beautiful picture during the series and then gifted it to the winner. Just amazing <3

Also, thanks to Anja for coming with me. In Ljubljana, we are both busy most of the time, and we don't have enough time to be together, so I said "hey, you can go to the Czech Republic with me, I'll be playing cards most of the time, but we'll maybe find some time for us as well". she said "Let's do it, I'll work in the room, but if you'll find some time we'll have some fun for sure". Well, in addition to working the whole day, she found time to bring tangerines to my table and even ****ing peeled them and cut into pieces so that i would eat easily and like a god, delivered coffee and water, that I was hydrated and drugged the whole time Thank you for that, my performance is even better because of your help, and for that I am INFINITELY GRATEFUL!

I would like to tell myself that next time I will take better care of my daily routines, and go outside for fresh air more often during breaks, exercise a little more, and definitely go out of the casino every day, at least for a walk, to see daylight, because these 17 hours of playing cards indoor, without knowing whether it's daylight or not (Saturday to Sunday), it's ok if it happens once or twice, but when I'll be going to live events for several weeks/months, I definitely don't wanna repeat this patern and it will be even more important that I do some mandatory things for the body and "soul" every day

Overall experience 8.9/10.
Why isn't it 10/10? My routine mentioned above could easily be better, plus stuff in the hotel, and the hotel itself was not the best experience. The first thing that confused me the most was that the stuff in the hotel was not the friendliest in the world. considering that you are sleeping and gambling there, would be good to have a bit cheaper or some free meals.

It's not bad, it costs 10€ each entrance to the restaurant, so 30e per day (breakfast/lunch/dinner), again it's not bad, of course. Also it's self-service, let's say there's quite a lot of choice(ish, could be better imo), but especially from what I have heard from people in other locations around Europe, given that Rozvadov is really one of the most popular poker rooms in the EU, I would expect that they would offer a bit better service tho.
I think that if this wasn't my first trip to the live series and I wouldnt be hyped as hell, I would rate them worse than I did

Plans ahead, nothing special. Grind online as much as possibru, In May, the scoop is goin on, so I will probably change my schedule to night for at least a week or two, maybe for a whole month. Otherwise, nothing special, play at least 5 times a week, every week 3x mandatory training, the rest optional, as much as possible. As much tennis as possible, especially now that its getting warm outside, the goal is twice a week, and I really have several candidates to play with, I don't see why it wouldn't be doable.
I will prioritize sleep a little more, 30 minutes more every day, so that I sleep at least 7 hours 30 minutes every day, that's kind of optimal for me i think.

I want to have a bit better freetime, and I want to be more chill, to really TURN OFF, it seems to me that sometimes I overthink things going back and forth, so I wanna focus a bit more on present moment when I'm away from tables. I just want to have fun, relax, rest and be with people I love, and in my head I put as much peace as possible and not too many demanding thoughts.

That's it, next time I'll be in touch on Monday, despite the fact that today is already Thursday
I'm glad to be back and in my routine and cant waiting to play online tomorrow against the morning bastards!

Next week's goals:

Poker/Learning:
- 3x playing
- 1x study day
- Every day spot or two (focus on database analysis), 30-45 minutes a day.

Other goals:
- 2x fitness
- Sauna

Optional if I find time:
- Visit friends that you didn't see for some time.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Tim during my trip to the Czech Republic. It comes across his posts in the blog, but meeting him in RL was definitely different. Tim really is one of the warmest, honest and most humble people I've ever come across at the poker tables. He was really open in talking about his struggles and the way he decided to fight them. There was no hidden agenda or secret motives, just heartwarming friendliness and sincerity. He's offered help in terms of advice to a complete stranger (we've only met that night at the table). I was struggling with a downswing prior to the trip, so I wanted a bit of a change of scenery and this day was definitely the best one in terms of experience. You have made me reconsider my approach to poker and I wish to thank you for it!

I didn't expect that 2+2 comments will left me in tears, but you succeeded my friend

I mean, what can I say even...

For me to read something like this means everything. It's defenetly weird in some way that this is standing out so much nowadays, I think this kinda approach with life should be a bit more "common" for everybody. But unfortunatelly it isn't, so I'm grateful even more that you as well find gratefulness and happiness in that way.
I feel blessed for meeting you as well, I think I live and work for moments like that one in Rozvadov.

And thankfully you didnt take much money from me in that night
Boy oh boy didnt I expect to sit down on table with such maestro

It was an honor meeting you as well, I hope we meet soon again brotherman.

"Thank you" would be such an understatement for your kind words, but I honestly AM VERY THANKFUL for your words.

On to many more sir!

Good morrning

This week im going to be very short. Im writing just because its Monday, so i stay 'on track' and do my ritual.
Considering the last post was on thursday i dont have much to say.

I completed all my goals, played baisically every day, and did sports every day. I didnt go to the sauna though, because i wasnt feeling
very well and i decided to skip it.

Results wise this week was a bit worse, i was down around 1k-ish. I played well (7.6/10), kind of average, i am not very pleased with that,
but most of the time i played alright, but at the end of my sessions i got sloppy and made mistakes, wich also got me in kind of a bad mood,
and i will fix this approach in the upcoming sessions. It is really important to be on your very best from the first to the last hand, and
that is currently an issue for me, so this is where im putting alot of effort to be consistent.

Im really exctied for the month of May, thats why i will prep myself this week and take more time, because in May i am expecting alot of poker

Plans for the upcoming week are a bit different.
May is coming, wich is full of poker, SCOOP is on PokerStars, and another big series on GGPoker, and i will probably switch my schedule so i will
play in the evenings/nights, atleast for 2 weeks if not the whole month. So this week i will have more free time, i will probably only play 2 times,
and the other days i will use to visit friends that i havent seen in a long time, and one day i will go help my father on his farm I will try to take
1 or 2 days for studying, atleast a couple hours (2h-4h a day).
Also this week i will find time to go to the sauna and a massage.

Sports wise i wont push it this week, i will go play tennis atleast once, and atleast one gym session and a walk, otherwise taking it easy.
Mainly because in the month of May i want to do a more serious 'challange' and i will set a few sport and nutrition goals, nothing crazy, but just so its
a bit different then usual.

I will write next on Monday, untill then, HAVE FUN and i wish you all luck

Goals this week:

Poker/studying:
-2x poker
-1x day for studying
-1x HRC with Miha

Other goals:
-1x fitness
-1x tennis
-1x Sauna

Optionally if i find time:
-Massage

Gooood morrning

Another week behind me, this time almost without poker and many other things.

Like i said last week, i had other things to do this week. Mostly for hanging out with friends and family, and some studying.
This week i played only 3 times, twice very solid, and once very bad. Overall i was down about 200$, nothing special, but it could be better.

Besides random coffes and hanging with friends in LJ, and a night of partying, my highlight this week was Monday.

On Monday I took my youngest cousin (she will be 10 I belive), on a birthday shopping spree and then around Ljubljana.
First we went to buy some clothes, dresses, shoes etc,...

I enjoyed the fact that she found things she liked very quickly, and she was full of
joy during the shopping haha. Then we went to the city center with electrical scooters, we went for a walk and ate a pizza. Then we had ice cream
and went to see the view of the whole city of Ljubljana from the tower of the Ljubljana castle.

We walked around a bit more and it was soon time for me to take her home to the village where i was born and baisically grew up in, I visited a couple
of friends and neighbours there, couught up on things and then i went home to sleep.

A very 'basic' day some would say, but I enjoyed these very simple momments, to walk and talk and to see how the kids look at life. You get an idea of how
life looks like from a diffrent point of view wich is really really fun.
Also my cousin is probably one of the smartest kids ever haha, so she always asks interesting questions, and i can talk about interesting things with her,
not like other kids her age that are really just kids. She is a bit of a 'genius' i think, a bit ahead of others, and i really enjoyed this and was very
happy to spend the day with her.

Another really cool thing that happend to me was dinner with two of my really good friends in my favorite resturant in Ljubljana (Čompa),
I havent eaten there in a while, and ofcourse they pampered my taste buds again and it was just amazing.

On Saturday i already felt a bit weird and almost sick, and then on Sunday something got to me and i did get sick. Not really optimal because i really wanted
to be ready for the night schedule grind this month, but i will clearly need to take another day or two off so i can get better and then start when i am ready.
As far as i know my body, i should be okay somewhere around Tuesday or Wednesday, so i plan on playing on Thursday.

I didnt do any sports last week, and im not even mad about it, because i didnt plan much, i should have gone to the tennis match though, but we rescheduled it.
I will make up for it all this month.

I will not force anything this week because im a little sick, so right after this or in next weeks blog post, i will also write down my whole plan for May,
because i will set a couple challanges for myself this month. One is goin to be a food challange, one a sports challange, and ill find something else that will
be good for me. I wont go too hard ofcourse, because i will need more energy for poker, but i would like to achive a couple of new goals.

Thats it, I will say some more next Monday.

This month is one of the biggest and most important months for poker players this year, so i wish everyone enjoyes and gives maximum effort on the tables!
Luck comes on its own!

''Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity''

Goals this week:

Poker/studying
-4x Poker
-1x day for studying

Other goals:
-1x Fitness
-1x Tennis

Optionally if i find time
-Visit my Father
