August
What a month! I not only clocked 128 hours but also made a pretty good profit even when i thought i might be having a losing or only slightly winning month.
I was up 4k in the first week, went on a 6k downswing the second week including a disgusting -5k day at 5/T, took half of the third week off, went back to it for the rest of the month and shot up about 10k to end the month up about 7.5k. At my last session of the month last night, I was having an extremely frustrating 13 hour 5/T session being stuck a bit and card dead, then had an almost 5k up swing in the last few hours. Pretty sick game.
I played a mixture of 2/5, 5/5, & 5/T with about 20/25/55% of each. That is a real step up from about 75/25/0% last month huh!
I find that I have to travel to get to good 5/T games but it's worth it even after the expenses (at least when I'm running good
)
I learned a lot this month. I have been recording each significant non-standard hand right after each happen, and then going over them with my coach. I have definitely gotten more approvals and less critiques on my hand histories than when i first started last month. Yay
We are also coming up with some new learning techniques which are helping me make new strides
Some of the leaks that I aim on improving next month are: being too tight preflop, and stationing too much on the river. When my opponent bet the river, and there's nothing I can beat then i have to fold no matter lolpotodds. It's not even a technical question but literally the calling station in me taking over. Bleh.
I also want to find time to do some volunteering next month. I'm looking at either animal shelters or soup kitchens, as they are both stuff I have done before and I enjoy giving back/help others through those activities. Think 1-2 hours/week is pretty doable.
I made progress at the gym this month too as the results were visible. One thing that annoys me is that I havent had much time to cook because it's a trade off between saving time eating out or saving money and eating healthier. Still need to improve my system i guess. I wish there are more than 24 hours in a day.
As for next month, I want to put in around 100 hours again. I think I'm going to put in more 5/T hours on weekends (which will be easy to do in 1.5 days with the rest of the weekend for social activities), which might leave me more time during the week.
And same as always: playing as well as I can in each spot. If not, figure out why and what I can do differently not just for this particular spot but similar spots with different hands. I'm really thankful for my extremely patient coach who puts up with my not-too-infrequent dumbness
Get ready.. set & go!
