So poker is not going well at all this month. After my crazy +5k in 7 hours session i have just been plummeting between -500 to -2k per session
(at 2/5, 5/5, and 5/T). I have been taking down almost every hand (win or lose) and going over them with my coach. While there are some hands I did not play well, it was agreed that I just ran bad overall. Basically i would get like 2 big hands per session and get cracked/coolered in them and be card dead for the rest of the session. I would be playing on these incredible 2/5 & 5/T tables that are playing like a 1/2, and just cant get into a pot with the spewers. It's been tough and I have picked up after just 2 hours 3 sessions in a row.
One big improvement that I'm happy with, in kind of a silver-lining way, is that Ive gotten much better at losing! It has been one of my goals to have a better table presence (since you want the rec players to have a good experience gambooling n such). For example, today when I got my aces cracked by kings aipf and bricked my wheel redraw (6 outs ott), we joked about it and even got a fist bump from one of the fish!
Moving forward, i am planning on playing through this downswing because 1) im still comfortably rolled (after this downswing approaching 5 digits), 2) we think Im still playing well overall so Im going to let the game select the stake for me, and 3) i'm blessed with the ability to reset myself mentally after a rough session and restart fresh. I dont know how long this will continue but I firmly believe in my edge in the games Im playing in so i'm going to keep at it.
In other news, even though poker hasnt been going well, I've been killing it at work
. We got a client who came to us with this major deal instead of a large national firm, and I got put on the file based on my performance so far. Pretty much told "dont **** this up", no pressure haha. Basically it'll be a chance for me to really shine at work as well as getting some nice experience. I'm very excited about it but at the same time apprehensive about the time it will take away from poker (im not getting paid more for it at work so im basically losing money from poker ev), but it'll be future career ev i guess.
