I dunno, according to her there is a big difference between sushi bought at a Wal-Mart-type-store, and sushi bought at Whole Foods.

Okay so i decided to go sushi overload at home:

Spoiler:

Tried making tuna tataki for the first time with some albacore tuna steak. And some random sashimi on the side. The conclusion was that i needed a better knife for slicing, so they all came out pretty thick. Ive heard that sushi knives are pretty expensive and now i know why. it did taste great though.

That's a pretty nice appetizer imo.

A good, sharp 8-inch chef's knife wouldn't do the trick?

Edit: so I see that sashimi knives are narrower, and therefore more elegant. You don't need the weight to cut fish that you would need to chop carrots. Of course I think a chef's knife would do fine, it just wouldn't feel quite as effortless.

Love the thread, very similar to my situation currently as well. Hoping I can do the same as you and maintain a decent work/poker balance while hanging onto my social life. I just feel under pressure to do as much now as possible, perhaps even to the detriment of my social life.

Don't really need a sushi-specific knife. I have a 10" flexible butcher knife with almost no angle to it, was like $100 some years ago. Thing is, a good knife will literally last until you're dead.

Here's a wusthof, bit much of an angle for a "sushi knife."

and this one's good enough for home use

Semi-monthly update

At the beginning of this month I realized that my hours will be **** this month due to a bunch of stuff I had to/wanted to go to. So far they have been a bit lower than last month but still on pace with my original goal. I played about 42 hours this month so far with most of the hours caught up with this week.

Result-wise it has been pretty swingy. Basically been card dead/bricking all flops at all my longer higher stake weekend sessions and ran hot for lower stake sessions during the week. Still up a good hourly for the month though.

Eg. down 2k over 14 hours of 5/T, then up 5k in 7 hours of 5/5, and then down 2.5k in 15 hours of 5/T.

It hasn't affected me mentally much at all as I'm just treating it as clocking hours. The way I see it, when profit has never been an explicit goal of mine for this PG&C, even when I have a losing session I'm still working towards my goal of getting the experience and hours. It takes away a lot of the pressure and stress by only having what you can control count.

Another thing I can't wait for is to finally have one of those god-moding sun-running sessions at 5/T. I remember being extremely frustrated for a long time at 2/5 because I felt like I was jinxed to never win more than 200bbs in a session, but now 200bb wins had became fairly common and aaaalmost expected . I havent had that many hours of 5T overall so I will be paying my dues first!

easy answer is just to play 5/5. 5k in 7 hours is just over $700 an hour.

that should be sustainable, so just play one night a week like that and by the end of the year you'll have a quarter of a mil in straight cash homie.

Or play two nights a week and use the second night's winnings to buy one of the world's top sushi chefs to follow you around and cook for you on demand

I think that's indeed what an in-depth analysis of my data would conclude. Although when it comes to purchasing males I prefer to have them for purposes other than making sushi.
