Idk, it's just funny in a way how you took one friend in the beginning and ended up taking 20 friends in winter Too awesome to be true.

Great thread
1. How often do you think you play your A game?
2. How often do you quit a session early because your not playing well?

1) These days i think its like 79% A Game, 20% B Game, 1% F Game
2) Very rarely, i'll always try to win my money back (the 20% B game) where if i start a session losing 2-3 buyins in the first few hands I may tilt a little, play looser/more aggressive and try win the money back quickly.. But if i get off to a good start, i think i'll play to the best of my ability throughout the session (not to sound big headed - i just always end the session thinking i've played as good as i can - obv i could have made alot of wrong decisions that i am not aware of, but at the time I am happy with the way i've played)

The 1% comprises when I play drunk

Re: My journey to becoming a millionaire

I recall you taking all those people to Vegas. As nice of you it was to do it, it would personally make me feel uncomfortable. Try & stay equal with your friends rather than lavishing them with extravagant gifts. You may not find out who your real friends are and who is just staying there for the trips/gifts etc. It may not be like that for you, but it would certainly be in the back of my mind. Not to mention people generally get envious.

I'm generally also one of those people who is happy to just do stuff on my own. But sometimes socially it would feel different/awkward. Are you able to just turn up and fit right in after having spent the whole day by yourself not speaking to people?

Do your friends think you have more money than you really do & has any of them ever hinted at you lending them some money?

In my 9-6 job which I currently work, everyone is pretty nice and that. Don't have anything against them personally, but at the end of it i'm there to take the salary. They wanted to run a team bonding exercise on weekend and I opted out of that. Because **** that, I see them Monday - Friday; I don't need to see them on my weekend. So I do get what you mean in that regard. I could be friends with them outside of work, but see no necessity.

Try & stay equal with your friends rather than lavishing them with extravagant gifts. I am just a very reckless person when it comes to money. As you know from my previous threads, i've admitted to betting 5 figures on roulette and stupid sports bets, and then I also have spent a lot on things in life which i like 2-3 months down the line think that was stupid to do. So the way i see it, if was prepared to do that kind of stuff, i can just do a trip for my birthday with my friends of the same value in money (or less) , but actually get a memory for a lifetime out of it instead of just a tilt from a roulette spin gone wrong or something. It's worth noting here i've only done one roulette spin in the last 3months and that was on a online site which i banned myself from now) - I also am going to a therapist to talk about why i used to play big sports bets and roulette spins, when I get back from Thailand... [edit] . But I am just one of those people who live in the moment, imo i never know what could be round the corner in my life, so i just try to enjoy it as much as possible and do things that I will remember for the rest of my life - i don't want to get to 50 and think, f**k i've not done anything in the past 50 years. I live for memories , and having great times with people... I've always been like that, even when i was had little money I always tried to go as big as I could doing something... So i am definitely on the extreme end of that particular spectrum of life, just who I am. The thing is, I made friends with about 10-15 people at uni, who are the people I know i will be friends with for the rest of my life. I got on with them from day one, and never spent any money on them whilst at university. So they were friends with me for 4 years before i started to be able to take them away to Vegas for my birthday. It's the same group of people, give or take a few, that I've taken to Vegas too. So most have been 3-4 times now, only a few have gone once, who I've become good friends with after i've gone to Vegas alot of times - if they are only friends with me for money, then so be it, but all i know is I have a good time with them and no-one has ever asked me to come, it's always been who i've wanted to take... But anyway, this is the last trip in January so it won't matter after that

You may not find out who your real friends are and who is just staying there for the trips/gifts etc. It may not be like that for you, but it would certainly be in the back of my mind. Not to mention people generally get envious.

I don't think people have got envious, but if they have, and i've not taken them, it doesn't bother me, i've only taken people there who mean something to me. E.g. for this trip i've included taking 2 of my cousins and offered my brother the chance to come now that he's 21 but he has exams

I'm generally also one of those people who is happy to just do stuff on my own. But sometimes socially it would feel different/awkward. Are you able to just turn up and fit right in after having spent the whole day by yourself not speaking to people?

Hmm, this is a hard one to answer. The people I meet up with now in life are those people I know well and you know, people I don't care what i do infront of, or say stupidly or something... However, when i bump into someone in the street that i've not seen for along time or something like that, sometimes i can feel a bit like i've lost my social skills to interact with someone I don't know well. Maybe it's just because I've not seen them for so long and don't know what to say to them, but idk. Another thing, is when i see some of my family like aunties and uncles, my parents have told them all now why i've not got a 9-5 job and about poker, and i think there is a bit of awkwardness when i speak to them... But yeah, whenever i spend time with the people who I know well like my good friends etc there is never any akwardness even if i have spent 90hours or something at the computer that week.

Do your friends think you have more money than you really do & has any of them ever hinted at you lending them some money?

I don't know what they think i have... And no one has ever asked me for money to loan. If they do, will say no 100% and just say i'm running bad at poker or something and have no money to loan

Yeah alot of my friends say this too. If you do actually get along with someone at work, you won't just say 'hey , how was your weekend, ahhh cool story bro' you would say ' hey , lets go out this weekend...'

Re: My journey to becoming a millionaire

I wonder why someone can make the right decisions at poker but make wrong decisions with roulette.
Normally i would say a good poker player as you are i think is not likely to do. Maybe it comes from you see that you can beat poker and you think you can beat roulette too or something.

Okay i write this maybe can give advice. Roulette is a game where many came and talked about a system but there isnt. Its a pure luck game and even less because the house has an edge. So if you can make two or three spins for fun and move on maybe thats okay but if you get stuck on this game it can become very risky and why you would do that. Everybody wants to win but you cant force this in such luck or lottery games i think. This is different than poker.

When it comes to betting then i dont think this can be compared to roulette. Betting can be for value and i even think people can make money with betting. I mean stocks betting and poker are all about making the right decisions. But there is betting like which player will shoot the next goal or will there be a goal in next ten minutes and these kind of betting is not for value much. In sports betting there is always some risk of manipulation too as past years have shown but the risk is low i would say especially at premier leagues.

I dont play poker midstakes or highstakes because i just would do if i think i am a better player than the most and would know what do in most situations.
So i make a decision. Hope i could give some advice because your thread is interesting and helpful maybe i can become a better poker player here too.

You must know that there are still people who think there is a sytem for roulette and there are even people who try to sell roulette systems on the internet but there is no system. If there would be a system why should such a person try to sell this product? He could go to a casino and make millions with the system.
And even some people know that its a luck game even number zero is taken away what is the house edge even then they play it and they get stuck on it and lose everything. So knowledge is not enough if you dont make it clear to yourself.
But as this is coopahs thread and for poker too dont want to drift too much from the subject.

I mean, obv I know I cannot win , but it's the whole 'you can win X amount of money in one second' kinda thing. Plus i just love action and stuff that gets adrenaline going through my body!

Okay i write this maybe can give advice. Roulette is a game where many came and talked about a system but there isnt. I know this, but you are right to bring this up, it's amazing how many fools there actually are out there, i once spoke to a guy who was about my age in London and he started to travel from Reading every Friday (45min train or something) just to play the roulette at the casino, he recorded every result he did in a notebook and his method was.........

Hope you're having a good hol.

The best month of my life was in Thailand in Chaing Mai, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. omg I wish I was there now, drinking chaing beer on the beach getting a massage.

In a earlier thread you said you grinded 50nl for a while, at what point did you feel things 'click' like going from breakeven to winning? Did you develop into a tag to lag player?

Re: My journey to becoming a millionaire

In to wish you all the best in future, i know what you are talking about when you were answering those questions about why you take your friends to vegas, as i am the same. I live in a poor country and my friends dont have that much money so i take them on trips outside of the country just to have a lot of fun, dont care about the money as we are making some life time experiences traveling and enjoying, thats what counts, money comes and goes. As long as those are your really best friends and not some ppl that take advantage of you and your money, i know how to recognize this and hope you do to

p.s. also ppl you are boring with roulette, he said he isnt playing it anymore, dont choke this thread also with it

Re: My journey to becoming a millionaire

Coopah hope good times in Thailand. When have time to look in some questions for you when its boring or something.

You said you dont use a hud just checking after session and in session too. But how you know what the vpip of a new player is or the 3bet percentage from BB for example. How you know he has polarized range or not.
I would say you have a good memory and know all players at the table well when playing even when multitabling so is it like you can memorize things better than others? I remember i have read something like that in other thread but i am not sure. I think because of that you can adapt to different players well and faster too.

And this would you say you make money from fish and weak TAGs mostly and your toughest opponents are players who play a bit more loose agressive and who balance and adapt whole day? Because i would think that. Thanks and nice times.

Re: My journey to becoming a millionaire

Hey people

I've been staying in hotels which only allow pokerstars and sometimes ongame clients to work, and skype. Rarely has the internet page itself worked , idk why it's been like that - but that is reason why i've not been on the forum.

I will reply to the above msg's later today, maybe in 5-6 hours. Just got to our final hotel before I fly home. Internet works here , maybe because it's alot better hotel, i'm not sure.

Anyway, brief update on the poker. Played maybe 400-1.2k hands / day average whilst out in Thai, just when I have spare time in the morning or something. I've not lost a session in about 20-21 sessions. Was table selecting alot as can only fit a few tables on laptop screen at the start, made around $55k at the tables.

Looking forward to getting back home next Wednesday now though and putting in 5k hand days until Christmas.

Will reply to the msgs later today, just about to go to the pool
