well i learned by playing and only playing. but i guess you personally know what's the best way for you, whether it be reading forums, watching videos, talking with poker friends, playing, all of these, some of these, railing games..

In this hand cant he have quite a lot of J's, any pair with a J, and all the draws that have a J in them?

yes, sure he can. but if he does, he bets them... and if i check, and he goes all in? Do i fold? No, never. He can be turning AQ into a bluff, also possibly be very thinly value betting KQ (if i checked). if i check, it makes KQ a possible value shove by him as i could have AK/AQ/AA/Q9/QT. but once i shove, it turns his hand KQ into a bluff catcher , essentially.

that hand is a very interesting one, and many questions such as the ones above can be asked, and potential answers given, but who knows if there is a correct answer here, i really doubt it!

but to answer the 2 qs above...

the worst hand he calls with : - i really don't know, if he can call here, without ' the nuts' . even a hand like a9/AJ still really beats nothing. I mean, if i had A9 i would probably just call. if i had AJ i'm not sure if id still only call , as he could have QT or AA/JJ/99 and even if i put him on AK, and i had AJ, i wouldn't raise as i think he couldn't call a shove over his river bet with AK + i would also like to see what he's betting with as don't have much reads on the opponent (which ofc makes it even more weird/crazy/stupid to take this line with 5 high) . To answer the question though --> I think he would still call me with a9, knowing he is beat, but to see what the hell I have.. not because he puts me on 5 high.

Best hand he folds: maybe A9 again, he could think I am valueshoving AJ (and so would call with AJ).. but I think in this spot the villain either has AA/JJ or he's just randomly spewing. He bet the river very quick, which can mean 2 things, 1) he's bluffing and trying to act strong, 2) he's very confident in his hand, wanting it to look like a bluff by betting quick, and potentially 3) he knew he was always 3 barreling the bluff. he could have a few combo's that all missed (but i am probably going too far now) and trying to justify my moment of madness haha!

The thing is, it was 3 handed, and 3 handed hand rankings go up alot compared to 6 handed. so I guess he could have any Ace and be betting me off a split pot) - say he had A5, and didn't put me on A9 or AJ then by the river he'd split the pot vs all hands apart from AQ AK(not in range as i'd 4b them)... but once i ship, he could think "omfg i guess i don't split here, and this guy has aj/a9/qt/a8/89 etc...

edit: i remembered only in the last paragraph that it was 3 handed, for some reason i thought it was 6 handed , but I dont think it changes much of what i said above... (ofc hand rankings go down 3handed and upalot 6handed)

If you think he can turn AQ into a bluff and bet KQ for thin value isnt it better to check/call to keep as many bluffs in his range as possible?

i don't think so, as i think AQ would fold to a shove but all the 2pr hands wouldn't, and I think as he's an opponent who also grinds lower stakes (so takes 2k shots) he'd just play it safe and check behind kq more times than he would value bet it..

sure, he may have bluffs in his range... but I think there are a lot more hands that have showdown value and beat my now repped Jx range but would still check behind. He essentially only loses to QJ/J9/KJ...and a rare AJ. But he also still beats all my now bluffs like AQ/9T/KT/AK/KK/AA/xx hands.

also, by me betting, he is only folding all hands that he would otherwise check behind if i checked, and then would be left wondering what i had, could lead to more value spots & by checking he can gain information that i don't shove for value without Jx in my hand

srsly tho sick call. how on earth are ppl puttin 10k$+ online then spewing like this? can wait to play higher limits hahaha

i m not ry sure about the 82hand. it just looks like a bad board to try and make him fold made hands and you have very solid SDV vs HIS draws. no? just looks like a spot where calling with Ax cant be that bad against you in particular

very interesting hands tho man keep it up!

                haha i don't know ! whales gonna be whales i guess !

yeah i agree with you - bad board, was just hoping the sizing would put him off , so i'm not sure if he makes the call with just 1pr there, esp just a jack , but even if he does, i could use it as an advantage in later pots..

                thanks man!

edit: i love how you say you're not sure about the 82cc hand (although rightly so) but you don't say you're not sure about the 45o hand hahah!

hahaha i m just in the middle of a big sunday grind so cant reply to every hand but lol that hand is just a rly sick levelling spot tbh. basically ure only rly repping a boat which is kinda meh given u pnly have some lolrandombackdoor boats inur range. u dont have jj. u dont have JJ. so all in all range vs range im rly not even sure u d end up shipping those boats for value in that spot? cuz lol whats gonna call you? then agai a villain that realizes this will call u lighter so its a rly weird rly fkd up spot cant do this for every hand whil masstabling so will wrap my head around all those after i m done bro. gl to u 2day

What do you do with these hands on the river ?

i either turn them into a bluff and rep the J (villain dependent) but probably check fold 80%+ of the time as i think he will call not only with J but also with the 2pr hands
