Could you elaborate on #2?
#3: Do you feel social skills decline? Friends meeting up after work for drinks etc. and you're sort of out of the loop as they're talking about work. If they ask you about work it'd be weird to talk about the sums of money or being 2 outered for a $10k pot . Or generally you're pretty active socially and it doesn't get in the way.
Have fun.
I'm annoyed because i wrote out a long reply to this yesterday and now i've realised it didn't post!!
So i'll reply again but will be shorter this time..
Regarding #2:
I think just for example 3 1/2 years ago when I first went to Vegas i only took 1 friend, then a year later I took 8 friends by doing a rake challenge set by a site (60k in 4months), then as i moved up from medium stakes to 5/10+ I could start taking 12 people, then last year was 15, and in January for my 25th i think there are 20 of us going. This will be the last trip as i've decided when i'm 25 life gets a bit more serious and it's time to grow up etc
And i guess they just have noticed 4 years ago i couldn't buy things like my car which i only bought last year, and other things i've wasted money on more recently...
Regarding poker social skills and #3:
If you only play cash games online (as opposed to a poker player who plays many live tournaments / year and travels with friends etc and go to the player parties and so on) it may be said that the social side to the job isn't the best. As far as my social life goes with my poker all i have is a skype group with 20 or so people I play with, and we have some banter in that and is fun to paste some funny hands etc.
I am one of those people who enjoys my own company a lot, I can easily chill and just listen to music all day if i wanted to, so me putting in long hours grinding alone in a room is no problem with me. I am also in an email thread with all my friends who have a job in the city so that helps the social side to it also I guess.
Regarding the conversations about their work, if they ever spoke about it, it would be for a very short time only. When i see my friends for drinks , say once every 3-4 weeks, we'd all get drunk and meet up to watch the football, talk about women etc, so their work never really pops up considering I see them on a Saturday 95% of the time. Never really mention the sums of money i play for in each pots, although if they (rarely) ask how my day/week has gone, i'll just say the truth. They've seen me do some 25k spins on roulette and place high 5 figure bets on football before so me playing 1-5knl poker games won't really be high for them I think.
I think what it comes down to for me is : I enjoy playing poker online, even if i break even (possibly even lose) i still enjoy the game and competing with other players, add that to the fact that i'd hate to wake up and go to a 9-5 job, the 'worse' social life isn't a problem. Also, i think quite a lot of relationships in 9-5 jobs are slightly fake, made with people you wouldn't be friends with outside work, and only speak to to get the day done quicker, progress upwards in the company or so on. But thats just my opinion!

Thanks. Hmm, i see what your saying... Maybe if i bet $200 into a pot of $1.2k (and get called everytime 100%) on the river to get called instead of an overbet of $1.4k or something then i'd make $200 extra. But if i get called 1 out of 7 times I make that over bet (in this example) i'd make as much money as i would if i bet $200 and got called everytime. I have to then balance this in with my bluffs, i wouldn't be able to successfully bluff enough if i bet $200, and as overbets rarely get called, it lets me bluff successfully higher % of the time. That's just a random example, but I try to overbet those players who i think fold more to big bets on diff streets with bluffs, and overbet those who i think call more, and so my betting sizes change accordingly to my read on the villain. Ultimately though, i play each hand in the way i think my green line will go up the most, whether it's by achieving a high red or blue line, it doesn't matter. If i play a hand a certain way, i may use this to play future hands the same/differently and lead to higher green line in the future...

not sure if you have answered this question but how many hands to you think you've played lifetime?
I don't know, and often wonder. I'd say somewhere in the region of 1.8-2.5m hands.
