Hi Giev ! awesome thread !
took me couple of months to read it but I finally did it
anyway I have just a few questions and would appreciate it very much if you could answer before you are out.. ?
1) place in order what do you consider to be the most important in poker: skill, luck and discipline/patience ? lot of people say it's mostly skill but imo all are equally important..
2) have you ever played vs Nanonoko ? if yes, how would you describe his play and what do you think of him ?
3) at what time do you usually wake up everyday ?
Thanks a lot for the answers and good luck at the tables

1. Ofc you need skill to beat the games but you are not going to make much money without discipline/patience if you just go monkeytilt every now and then and bust significant part of your BR at higher stakes. Luck.. Well it helps to be lucky at certain spots (ie. when taking a shot to new stake) but luck won't stop anyone moving up from the micros in the long run that's for sure.
2. I've played with nanonoko many times. Don't wanna tell what I think of him but it sure is interesting to have him at the tables.
made an account just to post and say how amazing and inspiring this thread has been for myself and many other micro/low stakes grinders. awesome stuff. please dont stop updating it!
Hey Giev, just wanted to join the chorus of thank-you's as this thread has been a daily read for me like it is for many others. Huge inspiration. Also, the fact you get up at 2-4pm makes me feel like I'm not massively lazy for doing the same :P
I might play next week if I get bored but what ever it won't change results that much anyway.
December around +50k.
So..
2012
2011 was so epic that I'm a little bit disappointed. Actually at the 750k peak I was pretty much at the same phase as 2011 but then instead of having couple of very very good months I got the worst downswing I've had so far.
Spoiler:
Obviously average 50k/month isn't bad in reality but I did wayyy too much autopiloting this year and I probably played too many tables too (which is why I was autopiloting in the first place I guess).
Winrate for 2012 was 3.15bb/100 so I hope I can get better wr for 2013.
It's pretty sad but the games got also significantly worse from what they were at 2011.
I really hope that all the sites won't follow this trend. I mean I can live with it if they make 25/50 the biggest game but that party stuff removing HSNL completely is just ridiculous.
Even though the games got worse I do have high hopes for 2013. Depending on how it goes and how the games change it might be my last year as a pro. But I'm not going to plan that far ahead and I have no idea what would I do. (Tbh this is still the 7 weeks downswing talking here so might be playing many years. )
Spoiler:
Saw this hand at my db couple of days ago and remembered that someone asked it so might as well post it now.

Anyway I might still post ITT sometimes to brag if I run really good or to whine if I run bad but from now on I won't be updating this thread very often.
It's been a really interesting journey for the last couple of years with you guys. Sadly I can't post a graph from that time since my db is still broken (I have only this years hands) but I guess it would show almost +2million. I wanna thank everyone who has been reading this and especially the people who posted ITT, without you this wouldn't have been nearly as fun.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and GL at the tables!

Amazin stuff!
I rekon I said that before,
but u have to admit that Chuck Bass is
some kind of a writer!
You are a better player though, I think.
PS: Haven't read a lot of your thread lately, sorry.
But I don't have to, because I already know you are da one ofakind.
Best regards Allan
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year man, i hope 2013 is a lot better for you! (Even though lol u still made $600k wtf) I've enjoyed following this thread from the start. GL
Even given the fact that AIEV is only one quotient of luck, albeit the most measurable one, it's still a crazy thought that had Giev run 150k below EV instead of above he would have finished the year with 300k instead of 600. Still nice but gives a hint as to what a big part luck can play in your final annual salary as a HSNLer.
Always been a lurker, just registered and about to make my first post here after reading the whole thread in 3days. Max Respect, u monster SOOOO INSPIRING!!!
