Not rly, now it's only poker & enjoying life while grinding. Everything else comes after I'm done with poker.

It is a tight one. I hope the US can hold on. Finland is scrapping, though. Is the country at a halt due to the hockey match?

Hey giev,
three Qs:

1) Are the Finns going to be in the finals against Slovaks?

2) Do you think small stakes holdem by ed miller you said you recommend will be relevant in todays games if i read and apply it? Cuz i looked it up and saw that it was published in 2004 so was wondering if you could help.

3) What is your approach to playing river both IP and OOP? I find myslef doing too many thin calldowns in a lot of spots especially in medium sized pots, where villain takes a pot control line and were OOP w 2nd pair and he goes b/ch/b.. I would like to here your take (doesnt have to be just calling rivers) on how you approach it if its not some sort of secret?

Thanks and keep crushing as always, hopefully ill donate you some stacks (not too many tho) in the future when ill be a 5k+ NL reg myself

That was some horrendously bad defending by the US on the winning goal. Good tenacity by Finland, though. Good luck to them!

What did you specifically change about your game when you turned your red-line around just like that? You created a thread about your red line a long time ago in BBV. It basically sky-rocketed after you implemented the changes.. What were those changes?

It's ok if you don't want to answer considering these things are hostile WWII secrets

1) I would guess..... No.
2) Well it was over 3 years ago when I read it but I guess it still could be ok.
3) Super ez spot. C/rai river and see how villain folds TPWK.

Hostile WWII secret.. I pretty much understood that it is ok to turn your weak hand in to a bluff and villain needs to fold 50% at river if I ship a pot sized bet.

Basically, you took advantage of all those spots where raising/betting weak hands would be more +EV and in some cases less -EV than folding?

Probably splitting hairs but do you mean c/shove? I assume your normally just c/r-ing? C/shoving in a typical b/c/b single raised pot sounds a bit extreme.

I am sure this is villain dependant but would you not be leading all your strong hands otr when they check back turn? Or are you just taking this line vs weaktight non handreaders? Im sure it depends on texture aswell?

Assuming 100bb stacks if we c/rai we are gonna need 72%~ FE (assuming 3/4 flop and river bet sizings)

Big fan

Yeah c/r, check/shove at singleraised pots would be crazy . But I tend to make it very big if I'm sure that villain has some 1pair hand so that he just can't call. Works very well against nits/bumhunters so 90% of the regs.

What comes to mind first are takechip and visjewater.. take chip is very solid and gives action to everyone all day every day so he definitely must be one of the best NL players. visjewater comes to mind because I've seen him doing some not so standard bluffs so he must think 1level more than some standard regs.

Yeah depends on villain, board and everything. Not saying I take that line every time.. Not even close. Most of the time I just bet river some standard bet or overbet, again depending on villain and board.
