Hello all. Ive been lurking for a few weeks, and this place is great. My name is travis, and i've just recently picked up poker. Im a math major, and thats one reason why poker interests me so much. I'm taking off school this fall before I transfer colleges in January. Let me tell you all how i started and where id like to be: I taught myself poker last month and since then have read Brunsons System and Harrington on poker I. Since then i've been playing just small 1NL SNG games, (are these stakes tough to beat bc of the rake?) and have been about break even, but haven't played enough hands for proper stats.

My goal is to get good enough by december that i'm averaging a profit of 30$ a day. Is this unrealistic? I'll be replacing my school time in the days with studying and playing poker. Also from what i've read, PockerTracker is a must? Any major thing i'm missing please shed some light. There wont be a better time in life for me to do this than now and i'm going to take advantage of it. Thank you all.
