About 4 days ago I put about $50 on Pokerstars after I lost a very small deposit on FullTilt. I decided to switch from my usual SnGs to FL6max cash games. I have started off at the .10/.20 stakes and have been playing those since. I've been playing at least an hour a day, usually closer to 2 or 3 and I do two table sessions at a 4 dollar buy-in each. I don't really have a specific goal other than to move up in stakes at a decent pace.

I am putting up a spreadsheet of my progress. I only have two bad sessions on the sheet. One was a three table session that I have decided not to do anymore until I can learn multitasking better. The other was a two table session where I was in a chasing mood or I would get outdrawn when I had top pair or top two pair (the times I chased, I had nut straight draws, flush draws or flush draws AND straight draws at the same time and I never seemed to hit). I have been playing what I consider a LAG style of play, but I'm not playing like an idiot while doing it.

I guess my main question is, when should I move up in stakes? I've read in various places that if you are making 2BB/hour on 4 tables for an 8BB/hour rate you are doing well and should move up once you have the bankroll. I know I don't have the bankroll but I'm definitely above the BB/hour rate, and I'm up almost 25 dollars in my 4 days played. What bankroll should I have to move up to the next stakes?

By the way, that only NLHE session I had was with a friend, and I do know that it is way out of my bankroll.

Every increment of 4 for each buy-in is a different table. I play one-table sessions while at work, and two-table sessions at home

If you have any other comments or advice, please let me know. I'm all ears.

Hi there best of luck on your journey

Hourly rates are only accurate over large samples of hands so the first thing I would do if I was you is make sure you have about 30,000 hands under your belt before you start evaluating your winrates. The higher your hand sample the more accurate the winrate will be. I would advise you wait until you have at least 30k hands before you start moving up on the grounds of winrate.

If I was you I would post your bankroll question in the limit forum as the limit guys will know more about limit brm.

If you do move up set yourself a number of buyins that you are prepared to lose at the higher stake before you move back down to your previous stake. This will allow you to rebuild if things do not go as planned at the higher stake. The most important thing in your poker playing career is your bankroll so everything you do should be geared towards protecting it.

Good work on your current progress - GL with your continued success!

What's the easiest way to keep track of the amount of hands played with out having HEM or something like that?

HEM is the way forward, it's a really cool product, I highly suggest you invest in it as soon as convenient for you.

There's a free poker tracker in the software section it's open source, haven't tried it myself : -

So in the meantime you could try that if you want
